surprised no talk about the three night run in colorado. we splurged for the webcast tonight. the first couple nights looked really good.

Anyone checking out TAB on this mini run? I missed out on the Pitt show earlier in the year but I'm going to be in Charlotte working next week and hanging out that weekend with a buddy down there. The show is a week from this Friday.

So does Trey always start the shows solo or was that something new earlier this year?

no one talking about Trey's four-date symphony run. we just nabbed four great seats in pittsburgh for valentine's day including two in the opera box, front two seats. should we dress like grownups, or should we bring glow sticks?

Should be fun. I have friends going to the LA show. I've got Trey's Live from Princeton show with a quintet - it's good, but I wouldn't call it great.

I think the symphony idea is pretty cool. Something to keep him busy I suppose so he doesnt get into trouble. Reminds me a lot of Clapton in the 90's. He did a sole acoustic tour, oldies tour, blues tour and r and b type tour just because he could.

Oh, good lord, I just found this. Trey really needs a quality control guy.

Funny aside to this...I gave Mike Gordon a ride from NYC up to Providence back in 2000 or so. He was going up to rehearse for a record release show for Scott Murawski from Max Creek and he had lost his wallet and thus was unable to rent a car. I was there getting a car to go to my mom's and told him I'd run him up there. For past services rendered. And the time he guest-listed some friends and I in Santa Fe after giving him a ride to a music store. He had a bunch of live Phish with him that he needed to review for their live release series. I got sick of listening to them pretty quick and after about an hour I put in Aeroplane and asked him what he thought. He wasn't into it. Fast forward 10 years and he's playing it live.

Wow... Whole MSG Run is a real tough ticket right now....

I want to go to at least the Friday show and can't find much...

Where is Neo?, don't you owe me a ticket ;)

I was at that show. It was weird, to say the least. I spent half the song trying to explain to the people around me what the heck it was because they heard me telling my buddy- hard to do with all the Anne Frank background and whatnot, especially considering everyone's state of mind. And the second half trying in vain to call my wife so she could listen (it's her favorite song).

My first phish show last night at the garden. That was some experience. The crowd basically takes over the place. All the aisles are just packed with people dancing. You're in a small minority if your not smoking the greens. Probably impossible not to get a contact high. Its like they gave all the ushers the night off b/c they know there's no way they can control that scene. For all the different jam bands I've seen, phish clearly takes the cake. I don't know how they keep up that pace for 3 hours. The crowd was also pretty amazing. I've never seen a crowd so into a show from the first song to the last. I was exhausted by the end and the crowd was still going strong. Hardly anyone sits down for the entire show. Granted, most of them are under the influence, but so was I and I was shot by the end. Definitely an awesome experience that anyone into jam bands should partake.

 You should see NYE. I've seen a few at MSG.I scored a ticket last night at around 5pm and turned it down since I'm fighting bronchitus. Was ready to hop on the train. Real Tough call but, in the end I figured that was not a place to be with a hacking cough and lung pain. Had pneumonia already 2 years ago - don't need that again.Uggggh :wall:

this is about as frustrating an event as i have ever experienced. i can't believe they haven't worked out these annoying flaws.

 Another Phish fan for life - all it takes is one show.

Hey Reaper! Man, you should have hit me up with a PM, I haven't been in this thread in a while man. I actually went to the 30th and NYE show but didn't have an extra. Hit me up next time, hope you are felling better.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of this run with some folks that normally fluff anything Phish does panning this run...thoughts from those that were there??

Well, I for one abosolutely loved every minute of it and so did the people I was with both nights. I think people are getting way to critical of this band, really overanalyzing it and hoping for them to be back to their '97 - '98 ways. The fact that this band is still together and can still create the energy they do, to me is just amazing. IMO, Page absolutely stole the show both nights I was there, he was fantastic.

I've heard bits and pieces of what they've been doing since the return and they sound more raw than they ever have before, due in large part to Trey's guitar tone and approach. He's lost his edge a bit, that thing where he's leaning into every note, but I'm not sure that it's to the detriment of the band or that it's not deliberate. I'm not saying they sound raw, just raw for them. It's not as tight as it used to be. He's playing looser. Then again, I'm not really with the pack on all things Phish. My favorite era is by far the '92-'95 stretch and the show I saw in '97 (Shoreline), which everybody loves, did not do much for me. I like what they're doing now, but it's nowhere near as relentless as it used to be. It's different, and it's obvious that some of that is owed to Trey's sobriety and he surely has nights where his energy isn't where he wants it and where he used to be able to use drugs to get him there. People need to ratchet down their expectations a little bit.

Sounding like Phish will head back to Bonnaroo this June, with Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers as headliners. Oh, and Umphreys McGee playing late night.

I'm there.

Looks like some summer dates leaked? I'm sure this isn't 100% accurate...but worth a post.

If true then those dates really stink for me. No NC dates, was really hoping for another Asheville show.
