**Official** Playoff tiebreak seeding thread (1 Viewer)

Every year at the end of the playoff season this board is littered with, break this tie..., what do I do with this scenario... when it comes to playoffs. People, beginners understandably, don't have the forethought to see possible issues with end of the season ties in the standings.

My first piece of advice is that your rules should have the 1st tiebreaker as total points and you should use decimal scoring. You play head to head all year so might as well reward the more consistent team. It's easy to see in the standings, easy to discern so you really don't have to think about it.

Now those of you who feel like you need break ties in standing by head to head, division record.... whatever. Please post your rules here. Issues come into play when say, 3 or more teams are tied and they haven't played each other the same amount of times. Commishes that haven't had that forethought yet, set the rules now while favoritism won't come into play down the stretch.

Trying to help people out here.

I really don't remember how people break ties in standings that don't use total points as tiebreakers so again, please post yours that work here and this thread can be an easy referral.

FBG powers, this might be a good article for your subscribers at this time of year.

Good luck all.

Nice idea. League format helps as well. 16-team, 4 divisions of 4 people each. Division plays each other twice and all other league members once. (Season is 18 games)

[*]Division (2 clubs):

[*]Head-to-Head

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Division

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Outside Division with Most points scored

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Outside Division with 2nd Most points scored

[*]Most points scored

[*]Division (3 or more clubs):

[*]Same as Division (2 clubs) except #1 changes to total Head to head games amongst the clubs.

[*]Wildcard (2 clubs):

[*]If tied within division, use Division Tiebreaker rules

[*]Head to Head

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Division

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Division with Most Points scored

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Division with 2nd Most Points scored

[*]Best Win-Loss-Tie record in Division with 3rd Most Points scored

[*]Most Points scored

[*]Wildcard (3 or more clubs):

[*]If tied within division, use Division Tiebreaker rules

[*]Same as Wildcard (2 clubs) except #2 changes to total Head to head games amongst the clubs.

Basically we use NFL tie-breaker rules.
