You realize there was more to wrestling in the 80s than the cartoon-era WWF?HOF should be built around the '80s WWF glory days and that means Demolition is a lock.Demolition should be in before The Freebirds![]()
To be fair, the camera was kept around the corner and there weren't any close shots. He may have bladed, but I'm guessing it wasaccidental.Wow first match and Sheamus goes to the blade. Wonder if we are seeing a little blurring of the PG-13 lines beginning.
Of course but it should be built around the WWF for obvious reasons. Agree. I guess they're coming up with a new way to get the title shot at WM?I hate that they're messing with the format of the Royal Rumble---making it for the championship instead of a shot at the championship, just destroys some of the tradition of the event
Then they never induct NWA guys like Flair. It may be a work, but Vince is smart enough to know he has to honor those from other promotions because there's enough smarts who would demand it.Of course but it should be built around the WWF for obvious reasons. Took that long, huh?Maria Kannelis is taking questions on twitter. It was about 10 minutes before some idiot asked her to sleep with him.![]()
No win situation for WWE since the last two winners were booed out if the building. Time to change the formula to freshen it up.Agree. I guess they're coming up with a new way to get the title shot at WM? Agreed she's insufferable I have to hit the mute button every time she makes an appearance.Smack Tripper said:Can't believe people think Steph is a good performer. She has the latitude to answer back on the mic where literally no one else does.

I rarely watch much of RAW anymore, but caught the first 5-10 minutes tonight.Smack Tripper said:Can't believe people think Steph is a good performer. She has the latitude to answer back on the mic where literally no one else does.

But the Royal Rumble was for the championship (I know, once, but still) before it was ever a shot for the championship at Wrestlemania. I actually wish they'd remove that stipulation just so we'd have some drama as to who would win. The last several years, it's been pretty obvious going in who was going to win and there's no fun in that.Courtjester said:I hate that they're messing with the format of the Royal Rumble---making it for the championship instead of a shot at the championship, just destroys some of the tradition of the event
They're certainly both deserving. I'm never quite sure how much it's a WWE HOF and how much it's a pro wrestling HOF. Obviously they've taken the NWA/WCW as their own with Sting and the 4 Horsemen getting in. If all of wrestling history is eligible, the Freebirds are long overdue. If the Von Erichs are in, I don't see why the Freebirds wouldn't be.Bogart said:RBM said:Demolition should be in before The Freebirds![]()
The roster is thin right now with all the injuries, but there are some things that are working. Love the Becky/Flair feud. I'm falling in love with Becky.Kalisto beats Del Rio. Flairs are elevating the women's division. I love these booking decisions.
(Don't tell my wife).I'm probably in the minority, but I like Steph. She hasn't been quite as good lately. Jericho has lost something off his fastball as far as promos go, too.Agreed she's insufferable I have to hit the mute button every time she makes an appearance.Smack Tripper said:Can't believe people think Steph is a good performer. It has to mean something more than just a win (nobody cares about King of the Ring), but you make a good point. As JB Breakfast Club mentioned, it seems like the winner is usually rejected by the fans. Everyone has a favorite, so whoever the winner is will be disappointing to the majority of the audience. Better to have a heel win, since they're going to get boo'd anyway. But at WrestleMania you generally want the top babyface as challenger for the title. Or maybe they'll have Reigns retain and defend against Lesnar? But the Royal Rumble was for the championship (I know, once, but still) before it was ever a shot for the championship at Wrestlemania. I was even more shocked that she actually answered the jagoff.Brady Marino said:Took that long, huh?Tom Servo said:Maria Kannelis is taking questions on twitter. It was about 10 minutes before some idiot asked her to sleep with him.![]()

She had more heat when she was the 20 something billionaire princess daddy's girl. Now... she's that middle aged chick thats been around for ten years. Kalisto beating Del Rio was great, but I really, really wish the announcers (esp JBL) wouldn't give away with the results with their constant talk about how Del Rio was inevitably going to win and prove the last win was a fluke. Subtracted a little from an exciting moment. Jim Ross didn't like to know what was going to happen ahead of time. I wish they would still do that.

So good.Love the Metroid reference. Still a fan of Punk. Even if he winds up losing all of his MMA fights.Tom Servo said:

They didn't say where they were from other than "the entertainment capital of Pennsylvania"
The crowd in like the first six rows were bathed in klieg lights for TV, but rest of the arena was pitch dark. Christy Hemme was doing interview segments from in the crowd. (How she didn't get groped is beyond me.)
TV for me.I caught some of TNA on POP TV last night. They didn't say where they were from other than "the entertainment capital of Pennsylvania"

What wrestling I saw wasn't that bad. EY-Roode went off well, especially the screwjob ending. Dollhouse - Beautiful People was meh.I caught some of TNA on POP TV last night. They didn't say where they were from other than "the entertainment capital of Pennsylvania"

I stumbled upon their live PPV this past Friday from that venue (yes they still actually have them). Not sure last night's show was taped on same day or not. Probably the most depressing wrestling show I've ever watched from a audience perspective. It looked like they just threw up a couple of rafters.
Read a POPTV esec is already providing the excuses for lack of increased viewers (from Dest America).....viewership was actually down. He actually thought they'd regain the audience they lost from Spike![]()
I'm worried about the rumble. Not enough potential surprises? I'm fearing it's basically Reigns or Brock winning it an outside chance HHH is in it.Is it too early to be worried about the WrestleMania card? Just feels like with all of the injuries and MIAs, that this is going to end up like WM 27 where somehow The Miz gets the Main Event slot, which just shouldn't have happened.
And last night just looked...forced.Yeah Beer Money (Bobby Roode and James Storm) just reunited. Back when they were together at their peak, there's little doubt IMO they would have been the top tag team in WWE. Great characters and great workers as well. Their matches with Motor City Machine Guns (MCMG) Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley were among the best series of tag matches I've ever seen. While TNA finally got the clue to let them headline shows they missed the boat big time with capitalizing on their tag division overall. Fairly certain at one time they had the following teams under their roof at the same time: Beer Money, MCMG, Young Bucks, Hardys, Dudleys, Christopher Daniels & Kazarian.
WWE has more bullets in the chamber if they want to use them. Since Cena is out and the belt is on the line, let's see if we can come up with 10 potential winners.I'm worried about the rumble. With a bunch of fodder like Konnor and Victor.
I do hope Cody Rhodes enters and then StarDust plays dumb the next night.
Was hoping for 40 people so they could have a bunch of surprises. Roster isn't deep enough for that.
Fan of Beer Money. Storm and Roode can work when they're motivated. Unfortunately that isn't much anymore. There's a group that calls themselves Beer Money?![]()
He didn't want to perform in Bingo Halls, so he went back to the big venues of TNA.Wait, Storm was just in NXT. Guess that didn't last long.
Outside of Big Show, I could buy any of these guys as champ, short-term or otherwise. It is a lot more believeable for someone to win the title in the Rumble than by defeating a champ by pin or submission. How epic would a short-term Big E. reign be? Or finally, the ascension of Bray Wyatt? Or a victory lap for Jericho or Taker? Many of the not-so-obvious outcomes would be much more invigorating than Reigns (who is growing on me) or Brock (who is always must-watch).WWE has more bullets in the chamber if they want to use them. Roman Reigns - the champion and favorite
Brock Lesnar - favorite 1A
HHH - biggest potential "surprise"/heel winner
Bray Wyatt - over enough if WWE wants to pull the trigger
Kevin Owens - some slight hints that Vince likes him - full sellout to win the belt?
Sheamus - been a very loyal soldier for WWE and looked like a legit champion just last month
the Undertaker - if he works Mania, he's going to be near the top of the card. One last ride?
Dean Ambrose - might be the most over face in the company
Big E - New Day can push to the top of the card as a dominant stable
Alberto Del Rio - been booked very strong since his return
Next tier:
Rusev - needs to carry a secondary title first
Jericho - hotshot and have him drop it at Fast Lane
Big Show - character is beaten down, but it's easy to rebuild him for a short run
Dolph Ziggler - short-term pop by booking a surprise face
There's arguments both ways. I want the Rumble to feel unpredictable and would sacrifice a short reign for something invigorating. Of course, if it's someone like Show, Axel, or someone like that, it's just too boring or too screwy. My thought if you're crowning the champ at RR, wouldn't you want to see them carry it at least to WM? Why go thru a whole RR to win it, only to drop it 3 weeks later? I imagine you'd want a little bit of shine to a brief run, otherwise it has the look of Tommy Rich's NWA title tenure.
I guess it depends on how they play it. If you want to give somebody a shot in the arm with a brief title reign with a foretaste of a longer reign later, I think it would be great. Kevin Owens in that role would be great. If you're going to lift Bray Wyatt out of what travdogg just called him being "empty threat", then that would give him some gravitas and open up the world title picture to another person. You could also do it for Jericho or UT as a last hurrah - with UT you'd have to be careful how he drops it because he'd almost have to do it at Fast Lane because you want him to win at WM.There's arguments both ways. I'm not saying Bo Dallas should win,
I for one think this would be great.
We need another 1-2-3 KId beating Razor Ramon moment. And why not? There's simply no one outside of Reigns/HHH/Lesnar that are built up enough to come out with the belt. I simply refuse to believe they'll throw the belt on Owens and try a Lesnar program at Mania. Just not realistic looking having a sub 6 foot fat guy (dont believe the billed height) vs. Lesnar. They still do that show? Not a surprise to any wrestling podcast listeners, but it's amazing as to how bad Peter Rosenberg is as a wrestling podcast host. He's actually gotten infinitely worse in the last year. Not only does he show up to his own show to get informed by his cohosts as to current wrestling news during the show, but he still genuinely believes he's such an informed insider.
David Shoemaker is great, but it's embarrassing to see him hitch his wagon to Rosenberg every week. Sad.
