Not a big NXT guy so this match did more to get Zayn over to me than anything thats happened on Raw
Zayn's top quality and impossible not to like. He'll be big for years to come.

In fact, he has everything in him to be as big as Daniel Bryan at his peak. Ultra likable, ultra humble, ultra good.

Root for him.

I have nothing against him, more lamenting the lax to nonexistent Raw booking.

Further proving that there is magic in the waters at Full Sail University: I couldn't have given less of a #### about Bayley this time a year ago. I thought her gimmick was death and stupid.

Now, she's great and I see the genius in her gimmick. She's got the 12-and-under demographic on lockdown for a decade and she's good to boot.

Same thing happened with Sasha Banks. Right when the WWE Network started, Sasha had X-Pac heat with me. Then she became GOAT in the span of a year.

That said, I say Bayley retains. The money is in the chase with Asuka, and I don't see room on the main roster for Bayley right now with the Charlotte/Sasha/Becky drama going on.

Not totally sold on that, but it's a best guess for the moment.

So yeah, not what I (or apparently anyone in the crowd) expected. Guess Bayley is big league bound soon, too.

Not impressed with Aries or Asuka.
Aries didn't have the best dance partner. I'm sorry, but Corbin is still a jolly green giant. Then again, "Mean" Mark Callous wasn't exactly a refined product before he went to the darkside...

Asuka and Bayley didn't really click for me. Come to think of it, Bayley hasn't really had that "defining" match since winning the belt from Sasha. I thought it was an ok match, but nothing jawdropping. Going after Shinsuke/Zayn wasn't the easiest thing to do, though.

Somewhere, Dixie Carter has to be thinking:

"On the hottest show of the year, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, and Samoa Joe played big roles. How could this be?"

Speaking of Dixie, I wouldn't mind to see her brought in as a GM like Vickie was - whenever the WWE decide to pay the $500 that TNA will likely be bought for one day.  I think she makes a good on-screen heel authority figure.  As long as she stays away from booking.

They just said Joe got busted when he and Balor conked heads at the beginning.

Also, a cut by the eye is no joke. This is different from Hart/Austin, where Austin gigged his forehead. That cut swells and Joe's looking at possible eye issues.

If this were the UFC, where the object IS to inflict pain, officials and docs would be doing the same thing.

Not the finish I expected, given the rumors that Balor's on his way up.

Then again, Kevin Owens made his Raw debut while still NXT champ, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Nah they're going to be very careful with how and when they debut Balor. I think he will go right into the main event scene.

0% chance Wrestlemania is anywhere close to as good as that. Hopefully the B-show on Sunday at least tries to keep up. Wouldn't be shocked if we already saw the 3 best matches of the weekend.

5 matches, 4 of which were great, and 1 was a B- or so. I'll probably watch it again tomorrow it was so great.

That cut on Joe was a perfect stroke of luck. I feel like that match was going to be a bit of a letdown after what preceded it, but between the blood, and how Joe(and eventually Balor) took it as a cue to go 100 MPH(when the match wasn't being suspended) made it amazing.

HOW COULD ANYONE WATCH THAT SHOW, AND NOT WANT THAT TO BE WHAT WRESTLING IS LIKE ALL THE TIME?

Announcers are a weak link here...
I'm not sure I could disagree with this more. You honestly think the Raw team does a better job here?

Corey Graves in my opinion is the best color commentator of the last 20 years. Best since Heenan(better than Lawler ever was) I especially like that he's got that Jesse Ventura vibe, of being the "heel announcer" but opening supporting some faces, and hating some heels just because he likes or dislikes them, based on their actions, not just because of there alignment. Its 100 times better than whatever nonsense JBL does.

If we could get a Mauro/Graves announce team, that could be an all time great announce team.

So who else was watching Zayn-Nakamura but really thinking of Ryback-Kalisto the entire time?

Yeah me neither...

Amazing show. The fact that Zayn and Bailey lost clean I n back to back matches shows you that NXT booking is nothing like the crap fed to us on Raw/SD. Great matches and stories, and not a single run in or cheap gimmick ending. Granted, going into tonight I thought Joe was going to go over, but damn that would've been ballsy to have Zayn, Bailey AND Balor lose in the span of an hour.

I may wait til Monday to watch Wrestlemania, not sure it will come anywhere close to what I just watched.

oh, and Balor incorporating the local flavor into his gimmick is awesome . (Jack the Ripper in London, Texas Chainsaw Massacre in Dallas.)

It was a great show with really good wrestling, but I still didn't care who won any of the matches. It felt like an exhibition...a really cool exhibition with awesome stuff happening, but still an exhibition where none of the results meant anything.

I'm going to care about the top three matches at Mania. They all have real stakes that impact the next months or even years of the company.

And this is why  NXT is great right now. It feeds those of us who love the competition...where the match is king. WWE feeds us the competitors.

I love both. I'll watch tomorrow and mark out for the Rock and Stone Cold and Brock and even (shudder) a Cena showing if done right.

10 years from now I'll be watching NXT Takeover Rio with the new kids putting on awesome matches...and marking out 2 days later to Sami, Nakamura, KO and Ambrose in a Fatal Four Way for the WWE title.

Unlike yourself I could care less about the next 3 months of a dying company. Who cares about a bunch of over the hill  old coots trying to be relevant.

Luncha Underground and the indies are where it's at with the young and coming talent . F Vince

Vocally, there is minimal delineation between these guys... and Phillips doesn't have the next gear to carry the rising action.  Nuts and bolts, he's fine.

Graves hasn't shown me what you're saying, but to put him in the same breath as Ventura or Heenan is a joke.  Those guys were supreme wits who ALSO got guys and angles over for some of their biggest box office.

Lawler as a heel announcer I would also put ahead of Graves, but whatever they've done with Lawler absent JR is pointless, he's weak.

Ditto JBL outside of that inital first good six months.  I think there's a good announcer in there but with Vince his ear he loses it.

I appreciate that the NXT style allows a greater focus on the work, but if you subscribe to the theory that the wrestling is the music and the announcers are the lyrics, that Nakamura match was Jimi Hendrix doing a solo while Bieber was on the mic

Even if a few years late, looking forward to Bobby Roode in WWE. Really thought the guy was one of the top heels in wrestling a few years back. I don't think he is what he was, but he's still pretty damn good.
