Well it was predictable but HHH looked terrible (work standpoint) out there....

And he wasn't out there what 5 minutes?

I don't want to be a jerk---but they had the opportunity to throw the title on Ambrose and the crowd would have gone off the hook, They could have had it change hands tomorrow, but the ending was terrible and boxes them in as far as future storylines

Yeah, everyone just kinda got thrown out of the ring to end it. Not a lot of great wrestling. I'm a little tired of this "he didn't get thrown off the top rope so he's not eliminated crap". They just did that with Rusev last year. So predictable.

 
So RR gets the strap back tomorrow night due to interference from Lesnar setting up a WM match?

Im not super up on this stuff, so might be talking out of my ###

yeah, that would've been pretty great

 
1) Don't have Lesnar get eliminated by the already kicked out Wyatt Family. They could have run that the same way with Lesnar kicking the #### out of them....Brey coming down to rally them and then him knocking a couple of them out. Once you get Stroheim out anyone else could have knocked out Harper and Rowan.

2) Reigns coming back to lose does nothing for him and the match in general. They would have gotten more sympathy for Reigns if the League had thrown the unconcious Regins back in the ring to be eliminated. They could have even waited for awhile...have HHH lead them down....and then have the countdown occur, HHH's music pop and him come into the ring.

3) The Miz and Jack Swagger are just a waste of spots. I know they have to have some semblenace of randomness......but they add nothing to the end game. R-Truth was nice enough comic relief and Henry was a nice throw away. They don't need either in the last 5.

HHH vs. Reigns for belt at Mania

Looking like for Mania: (Upper part of card)

HHH vs. Reigns

Lesnar vs. Wyatt

Ambrose vs. Jericho

Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles (maybe a 3rd guy?)

As far as the Rumble, I'm surprised at the lack of # of surprises.....

So this sets up the following for WM:

Sasha/Charlotte (maybe three way with Becky)

Reigns/HHH for the title (I'm going to assume HHH/Sheamus vs. Reigns/Ambrose at Fastlane)

Brock vs. Wyatt Family

KO vs. Zayn perhaps.

If Taker vs. Cena was the plan all along, and that's out, I team Taker with Brock against the Wyatt Family.

 
Going to rewatch later, but I think Reigns completely whiffed on that Superman punch to HHH. Out of sync (as KL mentioned above) is a great description how he (HHH) looked.

They booked Reigns in the Rumble like a heel. He was already getting booed at the entrance, what did they expect when he returned after 20 (?) mins in Rumble? It's just terrible booking.

Rumble was great. If you are complaining about Styles getting eliminated: that's Owens getting heat. If you don't like how Brock Lesnar went out: that's the Wyatt family getting HEAT.

HHH vs Reigns

Lol no its not. The writers are getting heat for being stupid. That could've been any three jabronis coming back in to eliminate Brock. That did nothing for the Wyatts.

The match was building to all of the Wyatts being in there to handle Brock...but Bray didn't get called down in time. So the fans thought Brock was going to overcome it. Instead, the wyatts decided to go into business for themselves and eliminate him four on one anyway.

That's heat. Now you want to see Brock beat those guys up, but four on one is too much. He'll need some help from someone else with a history against the family.

The way I see it is the fans think Brock destroyed the Wyatts, then the writers insulted their intelligence by having 3 guys who were eliminated come back in the ring to eliminate Brock. The fans collective intelligence being insulted is what stood out there.

Agreed. I was not happy with it happening, but it neatly sets up Taker joining Lesnar at Mania should it need to be done.

LOL. There are so many things they could have done with the belt, but putting it on Triple H is just lazy and selfish booking by Vince and Hunter.

Edit to add: Those who said Trips looked off the mark, they were right. Instead of spending 6 hours a day lifting, he should have stepped in an NXT ring offline for some practice to knock off rust. Now he has to get ready for a likely 30 plus minute match with a guy 15 or so years younger than him.

I thought it was a terrific show, especially given how decimated the roster is with injuries.

While everyone and their brother predicted the ending, the RR match itself was full of stories. It's long ago been established that the RR has very loose rules. Remember when Vince McMahon won from the #2 spot after sitting behind the broadcast table almost the whole time? Or guys laying under the ring for half an hour to appear at the end? So guys previously eliminated going back in to throw Brock out shouldn't be too controversial.

Everyone did their thing, I thought. Brock destroy everyone. The LON destroyed Brock. I do think it was a bit illogical that they didn't throw him back in to be eliminated. The Wyatt's got over on Brock, which will set things up down the road. They were pushed heavily going into the match, so it makes sense they played a big role in the match. AJ Styles was introduced and had a deep run. Ambrose got a nice rub by being the 2nd to last one out with the crowd strongly behind him. That will help him get to that true main event status.

The A-holeness of Kevin Owens really came through. He got into slugging matches with Ambrose, Styles, and Zayn. Zayn got to final exact some payback on Owens by eliminating him. They really established him as someone everyone hates.

The result doesn't bother me, as Reigns vs HHH at WrestleMania will mean more with the belt at stake. I assume Reigns will need to put his career on the line to get HHH to agree to give him the match.

 
I also really enjoyed the undercard. Ambrose vs Owens in the last man standing was terrific. The tag match was good, with the correct ending. The US Title match wasn't great, but I enjoyed the ending with Kalisto getting the belt back. Charlotte beating Becky by cheating along with the return of Sasha Banks continued the really good storytelling that's been happening at the top of the women's division (hopefully these ladies never get sucked into that Total Divas crap they're doing with Paige and others). It was nice to see them get the time needed to tell a good story in the ring.

The great thing about the RR is that you don't have any throw away matches like Big Show vs Ryback. Those guys just get thrown into the Rumble.

Really looking forward to Raw and the road to WM.

I've never been the most observant guy on the planet, but I don't know how I completely missed the fans turning on Reigns again. Wasn't it just a month ago he was over with the fans after his beatdown of HHH and title win the night after? Now he's back in the doghouse again? Has he really been that bad since? :oldunsure:

 
Best moment of the rumble was the whole sequence from when Sami's music hit until he tossed Owens. Owens reaction was priceless, he is so damn good at everything. Then they just start throwing haymakers. I love that feud.

I think if you change two little things about the Rumble match, you would find it much more positive:

1. Forget the Superman comeback by Reigns. Start the LON beatdown much later in the match, then as soon as HHH comes out, he commands the LON to throw him back in the ring, and HHH tosses the lifeless Reigns over the top. You get the same result, but better booked. Reigns is now the broken ex-champ with 10 weeks to climb back up the ladder until WM.

2. The Wyatt Family eliminates Brock before they are eliminated, not after. You want Brock to get his eliminations, but you feed him someone else (Jericho, Miz, ADR). And then you let Ambrose and HHH both eliminate one Wyatt each, maybe even team up for the third. Gives Wyatts heat, sets up Wyatts vs. Brock/Taker at WM.

I have no problems with HHH as Champ. It's a bit lazy, but with all of the injuries, it gives you the heel champ that you need going into WM.

 
Rock and Ronda Rousey in Reigns corner for WM. Keeps the LON at bay while Roman takes on HHH.

Rock and Ronda don't actually wrestle, but get the huge pop.

 
Usos also booed pretty bad. Said a year ago Reigns and The Usos should be a heel group. So easy to book. They're all talented so they deserve key roles but if the humanoids hate them you need to adapt to it.

 
I was excited at the final four, I thought, my god have they ACTUALLY booked something we didn't see coming with Corporate Ambrose screwing over Roman. Even though they aren't marquee names on the national level, that is a hot angle that could take you through two months to mania and be worthy of being on top.

And then, they didn't.

Oh well.

I hope they presold those mania tickets. When I heard this announced, I was looking forward to flying down to Dallas to check it out. Zero chance of that now. I know the injuries have thinned about the roster but there is no sizzle to this mania. I'll watch it but its an afterthought..

Around this time a year ago, the rallying cry was, if you don't like it, don't watch it. You NEVER tell a customer that when you are not in a super strong position because guess what, a lot of people listened. And there is nothing to bring them back with what they're putting out right now.

That's a pretty big departure from the 80s and 90s, which must make booking these days really difficult. Nobody complained about Super Austin, Super Rock, Super Hogan, or Super Ultimate Warrior. While they were faces, you almost never saw them job cleanly. Now we seem to want our superheroes more vulnerable. We want them strong, but not TOO strong. I think Cena has lost cleanly as the top babyface more often than the 4 I mentioned combined, and yet he's seen as too invincible by many fans.

A year to the day, not even Rocky could overcome the boos of Reigns, #CancelWWENetwork was trending worldwide, and most everyone in this thread was done with the product. Then we get a great ladder match for the IC title, Rock and Ronda, Taker over Bray showing that the Deadman could still work, and Rollins cashing in for his WM moment.

Things look bleak, but I trust they will pull something out of their ### in time for Dallas.
