*** Official Rams at 49ers TNF Thread *** (1 Viewer)

Rams defense has been looser tonight than you would like and the  offense has eben extremely solid. Get the 3 points because your offense won't be stopped next possession either and it lets your defense tread water

And he looks good. OL still isn't great, but the way he's being used is hurting the YPC. He's producing like it if you just look at the numbers, but he's clearly not Asiata.
Didn't see 1st half, but he didn't look particularly good to me on those cracks at the end zone on that last possession.

To be fair they had Todd Gurley on the previous 3 plays too
The more times you try to pound it in from the 1 yard line, the higher the likelihood that you punch it in for 6, period. Obviously he didn't get it on the downs before that, but that's how it goes sometimes. You have to pound them into submission and just keep doing it.

If you don't get it in from the 1, the run doesn't look good lol. That's how it goes, its not a pretty area of the field to be running from. Its either a TD or its stuffed. He's looked good.

Idk. He's the goal line back, he's catching passes between the 20's and in the RZ, he's got his confidence back and they're building the offense around him...even when the schedule gets tougher he should produce fantasy numbers. Obviously anyone is for sale at the right price, and he's not Bell or healthy DJ.
Gurley looks awful. He's this years Gordon.

That foul call is why I know getting away from football a bit was the right call for me. Even as a pure fan of football, I just hate to watch this and think "what can a guy do anymore?"

Well sure, you have a better chance of scoring a TD if you try for it on 4th down vs. kicking the FG. But that's true regardless of who your RB is tho.

there's that soft, glass-like Hyde again.  Amazing how good he can look and then how bad.  He really is jeckell and Hyde

The McVay hire was very smart. I thought we'd have another year or two before the risk of losing him at such a young age became a real threat. I'm starting to wish we'd prioritized keeping our homegrown (through two different regimes and three promotions) X's and O's genius over sticking with Gruden. McVay also really impressed me in his brief stint on All or Nothing, and the behind the scenes videos I've seen of him doing his thing on the Rams. He's clearly not just an offensive mind...he's also extremely organized, a good delegator, and a leader of men. I'm very bitter that we let him go. Gruden is very likable but so meh, and we put so many years into grooming McVay. ####.
Yeah he's clearly a leader.  The age thing never worries me.  It was always about his leadership skills.

Was he really good last year too? Cause I had him in 2 leagues and he didn't seem good
Last year he was definitely slumping. Bad OL, no other weapons to take the pressure off, historically bad rookie QB, and unimaginative playcalling didn't help.

I'm not saying its just him--McVay, the playcalling, some other weapons on the offense, and Goff improving are helping him a lot. But he looks good this year, compared to last year.
