I'm not doing either.  I was excited to go see it, the hype sounded awesome.  I wanted to love it.  Just didn't do it for me. :shrug:

It's the Sith Lord's love-of-his-life's home planet. Might have some sentimental value for him to have that and be able to visit it whenever he wants. Would have been a nice "bridge" to show the viewer that the Light Side was still in him... he just needed a spark to light it. Plus, it was also where the Emperor was from.

The only way I want to see jar jar is the first order capturing him and beheading him Isis style.

 
Just went to see it last night.  It was ok.

I get that they wanted to have Vader in it, but he sounded like a 70-year old version and it's impossible to have Vader without David Prowse.  At least TRY to mimic his movements.

I can't believe that anyone wouldn't realize that Tarkin was cgi.  I liked the effort, but they should have kept it minimal and not shown him so much or so closely so as to easily see that it was cgi.

Came home and watched Episode IV and while I appreciate the effort of tying in the ending of Rogue One, it sort of screws up the tracking of spies, etc. to the Princess and the "diplomatic mission" of her ship.

I went home and watched episode 4 as well.  I still don't understand the start of episode 4 where the stormtroopers mow down the guys and then Vader coming in after being a different ship then in Rogue One where Vader goes nuts.

The ship Vader mowed everyone down in was not Leia's ship. Leia sped off in hyperspace and after some time... we don't know how much time... Vader caught up with her. It was at that time the storm troopers entered first and shot up Leia's ship when Vader entered. The end of Rogue One is not at the exact point Episode IV begins. There is some time in between but not much because Leia still has the same garb on and such.

Darth Vader was not originally written as a ninja super-warrior. That aspect of the character was retconned in 1999. And now it's all the fans want from him.

Because in 1977 it made for an epic/better entrance - one of the best if all time.

They just can't get the eyes and mouth right.  Once they lock that down it'll open up a lot of "Tom Cruise leases his likeness for the upcoming Jack Reacher movie in 2052" avenues

Didn't read a thing about the movie and had no idea Tarkin was CGI. 

However I agree with you on Vader though.  I just thought maybe he was supposed to be younger and not so screwed up yet so was able to move a little easier.

Awesome movie, can't wait to see it again.

 
Just saw it an hour ago. I had no idea Tarkin was CGI. I also did not notice Vader moving differently. I was too busy enjoying the experience of the movie for such nonsense.

Umm Vader was pretty badass in ESB and RoTJ (considering they didn't realize lasers would be weightless and choreographed the lightsaber duels to be like broadsword fights) and was written all along as the guy who wiped out the Jedi. It's not like Vader was lame before the prequels established faster, acrobatic lightsaber battles.

(And you'll notice that EP 7 veers much closer to the original trilogy mold of lightsaber duels than the prequels hyper speed flip fests)

 
One little, tiny, minor thing I didn't like is when Vader gave the line "Try not to choke on your own aspirations". I half expected him to take off shades and the Who to start playing. It was no "I find your lack of faith disturbing".

Ben Kenobi: "Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights."

Kenobi only said that Vader "helped" the Empire; he never said that Vader actually wiped out the Jedi. (Also keep in mind that this was the same speech where Ben lied about Vader murdering Anakin Skywalker, so it's certainly possible that Ben was also exaggerating about Vader's involvement with the Jedi extermination.)

Lucas re-wrote Vader as a mass-murderer for the prequels, but he was NOT written that way all along.

He seemed like he knew his way around a light saber when he was fighting Ben in ANH

Vadar was not responsible for the deaths of the initial group of Jedi's.  In 3 it is Palpatine who issues order 66 which tells the preprogrammed Clone Troopers to turn on all Jedi they see.  Simultaneously Anakin takes out the Younglings at the temple.

Between 3 and 4 Vadar helps hunt down, interrogate and execute all remaining jedi.

Just saw it.  LOTS of hype maybe led to a little disappointment.  It was good but wasn't "the best Star Wars film since Empire", as I'm hearing a lot on Facebook and message boards and the like.

Definitely awesome but I'd put it behind both ANH and RotJ.  WAY better than the prequel junk of course.

Lucas originally meant for Vader to be skilled but somewhat hampered by his physical condition. That's why a partially-trained Luke was able to hold his own against Vader in ESB. But for the prequels, Lucas re-wrote the Anakin/Vader character and turned him into a super-ninja. (He did the same thing with Yoda.) Since then, the fans have expected acrobatics from Vader that would have been out-of-character from 1977-1983.

 
Still astonished over the amount of butthurt over people not liking that people don't like Fake Tarkin.  Guys, it's only a movie.

A partially trained Luke was toyed with and tested by Vader. Vader totally underestimated him in spots which is why he took some hits. If Vader was going all out, Luke would have been dead in seconds.

Exactly.  Luke had no chance. Kinda like Kylo Ren vs Finn.  Finn had no chance and Kylo was toying with him.  He tried to toy with Rey and got slapped down like the ##### he is
