*** Official Saints at Bears NFC Championship Game Thread *** (1 Viewer)

As much of a momentum changing play that Reggie Bush made on that TD reception, his undoing was turning around and taunting Brian Urlacher and the others chasing him - and then doing his somersault.

Urlacher said after the game THAT MOMENT turned the game around for the defense. They played angrier, got the safety, and the rest as they say..... was history.

Fair enough. I thought that was unneccesary as well.

Hey, I love that I have some Saint brothers that can be nice in the face of this. Kudos to them, they are better fans than I am.But this just sucks. Worst loss I've ever felt as a fan. Everything was there for the Saints to win. They were the more talented team and they just gave the game away.
The Siants didn't give the game away; the Bears took it away. That's football. Stop whining.
That's right, talented teams don't give games away.

Saints have a ways to go. They'll get there though.

The Saints were the 2nd best team in the NFC this year, and brother, that aint half bad.

Congratulations on a great season, Saints.

I disagree. After that play the Bears offense was quickly pushed off the field and our offense marched back down the field. The turning point, IMO, was our decision at that point to kick a field goal that we had no shot at making. That gave the Bears decent field position, which directly resulted in the the Saints giving up the safety.

Bears fans just can't fathom what a crushing loss this was today. This was 84 Cubs crushing. Just the worst pit of your stomach loss. Unimaginable to a fans of a team that is consistantly in the thick of things like the Bears are.
You need Zoloft. Jesus.
Whatever will take the pain away.
A little more than a year ago we were hearing "the Saints will never play in NO". Then we heard "the Dolphins screwed the Saints over and took the better QB, leaving them with a noodle armed Brees." "No free agents will go to NO". Then it was "Bush will never sign with a pathetic organization like the Saints". In the preseason we were called "one of the worst teams to ever take the field in NO." We were unanimous picks to finish dead last in our division. After the first two games it was "you haven't beaten anybody". We beat Atlanta "solely on emotion, just wait until you meet in the Georgia Dome". Then it was "just wait until you face Philly/Dallas/NYG/Philly (again). Now we took the NFC Champion to a 14-18 score in the fourth quarter when EVERYTHING was there way--they had their field, their weather, the media poked a stick at them all week, they got to an early lead which took the pressure off of Grossman and we left too many balls on the field. We are arguably in the best position of any team in the NFC going into next year.
I am a Bears fan and I completely agree with you. The Saints are not going away any time soon. Rough loss today, but you guys will be back for years to come with that offense.

I was not happy at the end of the first half and for a while in the second half...but after that safety I started feeling much better about things. Needless to say, I am pumped! GO BEARS! :goodposting: :lmao:

Consistently in the thick of things? Maybe the past few years, but obviously you weren't around in the 90's when Favre was kicking the h*** out of a terrible Chicago team twice per year. Newsflash: Chicago hasn't been to the Super Bowl since 1986.Get over yourself.

Hey Statorama, team and all of you other Saints fans - all smack talk and other assorted musings, etc....

Congratulations on a great season, and hopefully we'll see you guys up in Chicago for next year's NFC Championship game.

I, for one, would love a rematch in Chicago next year. Congrats again and good luck in the SB.

Can we all agree that Lovie Smith should get paid now? Damn he's underpaid.
Lovie Smith was 2 years into a four year deal when he was named NFL Coach of the Year.Prior to Lovie's arrival in Chicago, Jerry Angelo gave a contract extension to **** Jauron after he won the same award, when Jauron had a year left on an existing deal. He just didn't want to make the same mistake twice.Lovie Smith will get paid.I wonder what the salaries for the 'Head Coaches' in the NFL are. ...excluding those with player personnel authority.I guess the Bears made the right choice with Lovie Smith over Nick Saban.

Couldn't believe Bush did that.

Post of the day. Look forward to our teams meeting again next year.Go Super Bears!

As a quasi-bears fan, I have to ask, doesn't it seem like two different situations? The Jaoraun Bears caught every break in the book during that crazy 13-3 season. This Bears team is just solid.

Gotta drop in and say congrats to all the Bears fans in this thread on a great win. Today, the better team prevailed. Good luck in representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Agreed. This a better Bears team. Look at it this way--last year, the Bears were exactly where you are now...trying to shake off a crushing playoff loss after a great season. So they came back the next year, fixed a few problems, and now they're in the big game. No reason you can't do the same. So buck up little camper. Your mission--should you choose to accept it--is to prove to the world that you were not a one year fluke. Like many people thought the Bears were.

Really? Could it possibly be worse than 03 Cubs? I was honestly depressed for about 3 weeks after that. I still can't watch replays of Bartman without getting pissed off.

Do me a favor, don't think because the Bears are from Chicago.... then Bears fans are Cub fans. I loathe the Cubs and their fans. I laughed so hard I was crying during that '03 Cubs meltdown. Don't be pissed at Bartman either.... be ticked off at your shortstop and Prior - THEY are the ones that let your team down. And then the team let you down in Game 7.

Obviously not all Bears fans are Cubs fans, but I am. If you're not, that's fine, it's not even baseball season. I was just sharing that I felt pain similar to what this guy feels today. And if I AM ticked at Gonzalez and Prior and Wood for the last 10.5 innings of that season, can't I still be pissed at Bartman (and the other yahoos down the 3rd base line) too?

Agreed. I turned to my wife at the time and said, "Was that Urlacher? That was really, really stupid."

Anyway, enough of the hijack. Sorry. I don't even like baseball right now (it goes in cycles).

Bears are in the Super Bowl!!!! It's been a long time coming. I need to find my Super Bowl Shuffle cassette tape.

Definitely. NFC needs to represent this year. Time to win one for the real NFL.

From a Bears fan, very :bye: .The Saints not only went waaaaaaay farther than anyone expected them to, they turned around their franchise completely, and gave their fans something to look forward to for years. My hats off to you Saints and Saint fans.

Thanks and good luck in the Bowl. We will look forward to seeing Da Bears in the NFC Championship game next season. But, it will be in the Dome then

The ultra-gay little D Sanders dance probably didn't hurt either. Dance to that little Reggie. LOLPS congrats grid and Bear fans

Reggie Bush should have known better...terrible move on his part...

Just want to get my prediction in now, so I can be mocked properly if I'm way off. Actually, I wouldn't mind being way off...but this is how I see it:Bears 27, Saints 0.Bears D is due for a big game, the Saints are due for a letdown away from home, and a 10-0 close game can be broken open pretty easily. I would say Chicago would win anyway in nice weather, but they'll dominate in the snow. :banned: :banned: :banned:
Just want to give a big ;) to the Chicago defense for ruining my bold prediction. If they could have played better at the end of the half, and covered Bush better on one play, I woulda been so smart.

;) Well said Grid.I will add that I think the Saints have a bright future, and they should be back in the playoffs next year too. Ever since the Saints picked up Brees, I knew they were going to get better, and it was good to see Brees have a great season after the Chargers cast him aside.

Congrats to Bear fans, the defense really played like they have in the early part of the year, and I really think you guys have a better chance at beating the Colts than we did. Hope to see you guys in the Dome next year.

My head hurts. St. Bernardus churns out a mean quad.

Wish the game had been as entertaining as the Colts/Pats matchup.

Wore my Saints coat proudly into work today, and congratulated all the Bears fans in the office (a ton, considering this is Wisconsin).

I can't wait to see the Bears and Saints duke it out in the Superdome in next year's championship game.

Poetry...pure poetry

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

Make every play clear the way to victory!

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation,

With your T formation.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

And let them know why you're wearing the crown.

You're the pride and joy,

of all Illinois.

Chicago Bears, Bear Down!
I never knew how wonderful this song was until going to Soldier Field this weekend and hearing for myself. What a beautiful and awesome song. I'm posting this over in the FFA thread for "songs that make your spine tingle." WOW!

Does any other NFL team have a fight song that a significant portion of fans know well enough to sing along after each score? I doubt there are many NFL stadiums that match the atmosphere of Soldier Field on a Sunday afternoon.

game over. Congratulations all of America outside Chicago. Only a matter of time until Saints score again and Rex starts throwing ints.... Saints have this one wrapped up. NO are going to the Superbowl!!!
No way! Congrats to the Bears. They've got this wrapped up. It's been over since the second quarter!
Momentum shift is too great. Bears have NO chance of holding onto this lead........
haha....don't talk too soon

Saints can not win this game unless they change the FP and they better do it soon. Chi O will be able to score if they keep getting the ball near the 50.
Have you been watching Grossman play?
He may not be slinging the ball up and down the field, but he has avoided mistakes.... sacks and TOs.
One big mistake was to overthrow Clark (?) wide open in the end zone. 4 points on Rex there
As long as he doens't turn the ball over. I can't see NO winning this game. The Bears D looks like the team of the 1st half of the season all of a sudden.
This man knows. :lmao: Reliving the game through this thread guys. :lmao:
