Oh My...Chelsea banned from transfering anone in until Jan 2011

Link
 Awesome.
ManU up next?
I would imagine Chelsea appeal it down to one window. ManU will probably get nothing for this. The whole transfer program is starting to look shady though. I would imagine some new group in UEFA formed to sort this out. Is the Tevez issue finally sorted out? There were at least 3 clubs involved in that fiasco.
Starting? All of this is so shady its not even funny

I was just looking at the UEFA qualifying groups and, you can see how much attention I've been paying, but why is Italy having to qualify? I thought defending champ always got an auto-entry? Did they change this or am I remembering this wrong and it was never the case?

They changed it starting with this World Cup. Only the host gets an automatic bid now.

It's a real shame that the US/ELS game is a 5:00 PM Pacific. The Cal/Maryland football game starts at 7:00, and it will be tough to see them both in their entirety if I want to be out amongst the crowds in Berkeley.

actually this started in 2006.Brazil won in 2002 but had to qualify for 2006

You're correct, my mistake.

Programming note: The game is on ESPN ClassicI didn't know they showed live sports on ESPN Classic. I'll be at DKR watching the Longhorns kickoff their national title run against University of Louisiana-Monroe with US/ELS on the DVR. I think it's pretty unlikely that anyone at the game is going to spoil the match for me before I have the chance to watch it on DVR early Sunday morning.

For the 2nd straight week, Rooney gets an absolute gift of a PK and his team capitalizes. He didn't dive, but it was a terrible call.

England's back line looking very slow and a bit disorganized. they need Rio back

Supposedly Demerit is out for tonight and with Gooch on suspension, we are going to have an interesting back four.

My hope

Jozy-Davies

LD-MB-Benny-Demps

Spector-Boca-Marshall-Dolo

Howard

I could also see a lineup with Holden in for Jozy and Dempsey playing as a withdrawn striker from the get go. Bringing an extra winger in Rogers opens up this possibility in my mind.

Rumor is that Ching is not starting and Clark is not suited up (is he hurt or being punished for his horrible game in Mexico?).

From SBI

American-born defender Edgar Castillo is a step closer to a potential spot with the U.S. men's national team after completing and submitting his application to switch from the Mexican national team to the United States, sources told SBI.
Looks like we will have a new LB soon.

ESPN CLassic has shown a bunch of soccer games over the years. ESPN uses Classic for spill over games like this. There has been a rumor for a couple of years now that ESPN is looking to rebrand ESPN Classic as ESPN3 and let soccer be the anchor for the new channel. With the additions of EPL and La Liga along with a handful of influential ESPN scribes all of a sudden pumping soccer more than they ever have before, there may be something to this.Big shame for me is that I don't get ESPN Classic in HD. Does anyone here get it in HD?

US lineup, per Grant Wahl's twitter:

Howard, Spector, Marshall, Bocanegra, Bornstein, Dempsey, Feilhaber, Bradley, Donovan, Altidore, Davies

Oof, with Howard and our attack we certainly are heavy favorites, but man, that back 4 is not intimidating at all.BTW, what happened to Demerit?

WTF channel are you guys watching this on?

I spent 25 minutes battling justin.tv before losing the feed for good.

I see we're down 1-0...what happened...

well, 1-1 now...

ESPN Classicdefense is playing horribly, not pressuring the ball near the box...we're attacking well, although Dempsey has missed a few good opportunities.Davies has played awesome.

IMO this is the best front seven Bradley can field, both in terms of selection and positioning.

** Davies and Altidore up front - perfect foils for one another

** Donavon and Dempsey on the wings - two creative wing players who also float into the central midfield (and I think this is LD's best position)

** Benny as the engine of the attack in midfield

** Bradley as DM to clean up the mess

I'm not sure what's worse... the fact that I don't get ESPN Classic, or the fact that I didn't even realize it until now.

Anywhere I can watch this online? That might actually be better as I can go simultaneous with a college football game on TV.

Donovan to Altidore...####### MONEY!!

Great looking play...Another great ball by Donovan...looking like Beckham in his prime with some of these balls!

Landon distributing from all over the field...

Davies playing out of his mind. He is definitely our fastest player and one of our more skilled players with the ball in his possession....Love what he and Jozy bring to the table up front.

:goodposting: With these three we could really make some noise next year...if Dempsey shows up, Look out!

So we played nice for the first chunk, but occasionally ragged and had the run of play.

They we got even more ragged and give up an ugly goal.

Stagger around the next few minutes tenative as well.

And then...well then all the El Salvador guys looked like they were pulling some bad AI move from an old Commodore soccer game and all abandon the box leaving 4 (FOUR!) US players all onside and in front of the goal for a nice put away by Dempsey.

Then the US gets its sea legs a bit with the occasional scary Salvador counter.

Then in the last couple of minutes we get a corner and all of sudden are pwning them all over the field and making them look like the weak sister they are like a light switch went on.

Loved the up-tempo play of the last few minutes - hope we keep it up as clearly are guys are better conditioned.

PS - GOOOOOOOOOOOOO COSTA RICA!!!

Thank friggan god Landon brought his A game. The US needs to get one more and I then I feel ELS may fold. I don't like the space the US is giving them though and both Bradley and Benny are getting caught up field at the same time.

Anyone know why Cherundolo did not start which would have allowed Spector to play on the left and remove Bornstein who struggled in the first half.

Btw, here's your FIFA World Cup Qualifying player of the day:

At Tblisi, Georgia captain Kakha Kaladze—who plays for AC Milan—had own goals on headers in the 57th and 67th minutes, giving Italy a 2-0 victory over Georgia.
Talk about :bag: :bag:

Not sure, but Bornstein sucks.
