whats everyone thinking for the lineup tonight?

Howard

Spector, Gooch, Marshall, Bocanegra

Bradley, Landon, Dempsey, Feilhaber (or does he go back to Clarke)

Jozy, Davies (seems to be ok)

Did Spector do enough to keep his spot for tonight? (i think so) Does he keep Benny on or go for a more defensive MF? (i'm not sure what kind of attack T&T is capable of mounting).

Hope Holden gets a shot in the 2nd half again. The kid just makes things happen.

 
I posted in the gambling thread, but England is just on effing fire right now.

Their lineup is sick, and that is without Rio Ferdinand.

Up 2-0 right now, about to guarantee a spot in wc2010, I think they deserve serious consideration to winning it all this time.

I agree but they may have peaked too early. A lot can happen to a team between now and next summer but they are playing as well as anyone in the world.Anyone know if the Mexico - Honduras game is on tonight on Univision/Galavision/Telemundo/ or Telefutura?
 
Germany up on Azerbaijan 4-0 with 10 minutes to go. (Ballack, Podolski, Klose (2))

Russia up on Wales 2-1 with about 10 left too.

Group 4 table

Germany 19 points

Russia 18 points

each with two matches after today, including playing each other 10/10 in Moscow

I sure would like to see Wales get an equalizer here.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Carlos Edwards abuses Jon Bornstein all game.

Edwards at RB and Bornstein at LB, right? So they're on the same side?

 
Davies' field vision does him in again....Donovan makes a streaking run into the box wide open....and Davies puts his head down and shoots from 25 yards...

 
What a bull#### ending to the half. GK fakes an injury and the US runs out of time.

I don't complain about the officials much, but :mellow: for that bull####.

US playing with no conviction and no urgency in that first half. They had better pick it up...and fast....a draw won't cut it.

:rant: I'd love to get Holden in there, mix it up. Dempsey looks like he can't be bothered. I haven't seen Clark all half, and Bradley hasn't done much. Donovan has done a bit, but I've caught him just walking around out there a few times.Really frustrating....
 
both outside backs are doing alright actually. Both have been pretty good with their on the ball D

Gooch really fell asleep on that throw in. almost a total disaster.

 
Clark has been horrible. No cohesion through the midfield. We are trying to play Bradley higher but it is causing us to go long ball because Clark can't find the spacing at all and has no patience on the ball. He needs to come out pronto. It doesn't help that we have several players that can't see the runs at all and means we can't open up space. Bornstein seems afraid to make a pass into space and only likes to pass to feet.

Dempsey has brought his worst tonight. I can't believe how bad he can be at times. Totally worthless.

Gooch is so much better than any of our other defenders it isn't funny. He has his hands full with Jones though.

Jozy seems to be working harder than I've ever seen him. Where did this come from? I also think he is showing a nice understanding of the game. He also seems to be hooking up with Davies better than I've ever seen early on.

Penalty on both sides IMO. I'm watching in Spanish and the announcers are hilarious. He wouldn't let the hand ball go. The ref is brutal again.

Subs imo. Benny for Clark now. Dempsey has a habit of waking up but I wouldn't mind seeing Holden come on for him rather than either Jozy or Davies. We need goals this game and baaaaaadly. Last sub I'm unsure of right now. I mean, I would have subbed out Bornstein in the first minute but I doubt that is going to happen.

 
i'd really like to see Holden (or Torres for that matter) for Clarke. Need someone who can stay on the ball in the MF allowing Bradley to get closer to goal.

Yeah he did. But it may be the only mistake he made all half. His positioning has been tremendous and after last week, it really stands out. It doesn't look like much but none of those bs punch the ball into the box becomes anything.
 
Anyone else think that John Harkes really doesnt like Dempsey? It sounds almost personal the way he speaks about him...
