Nice! Dempsey usually (or at least, used to) plays the left, so that will be a great partner to have coming out of the back.

I saw that Bullard is getting put on a two week internal suspension at Hull and has majorly underwhelmed there. I think it would be great to get him back with the Cottagers for another year. With a player like him coming out of the MF with Dempsey and those forwards healthy, they could make a strong run for Europe (not CL).

Yep, big disappointment when he left.

Yo Mjolnrs, what is this about? http://www.joe.ie/football/european-football/bayern-ultras-issue-code-of-conduct-for-neuer-0014255-1

This seems a bit off for signing one off the best in the game currently. What's the back story?

I just can't follow Bundesliga that much.
Some of these fan clubs are way out there. Before there was ever talk of Neuer coming to Bayern he said he was a Schalke fan and actually supported one of the more radical clubs of Schalke. Last season when the talks started about him coming to Bayern many fans didn't want him to come to Munich. He was seen as the enemy because of his long stated dedication to Schalke.

But, once he signed most fans where happy to get such a solid keeper and have thrown their support behind him. The club is pretty upset with this group and I'm sure there going to be some ugly headlines out of Munich in the near future.

I personally think the entire team should focus their attentions on all other areas of the stadium and ignore this bunch.

If they land Cesc as well (which it appears they will), I don't see their reign of terror ending anytime soon. Almost makes the Champions League as boring as La Liga.

I had a dream last night where I was talking about having players that can finish in front of the net is critical to a team's success. At first I was talking with my brother, and then Clint Dempsey appears and I'm talking to him as well. I tell him that the US team lacks finishers, and he says, "well they have me." To which I respond with a prolonged silence...

Eh. I don't see how Cesc really improves Barca. They need more help on D by a wide margin. With Sanchez now it means Iniesta really never has to play the wing and therefor adds some depth in the midfield where before he would play where Pedro plays on occasion. I'm also a big Kieta fan. I feel like if they signed Cesc and I saw him in the starting lineup I'd be upset that someone else is on the bench. I think Cesc should read the big picture here and vow his loyalty to Arsenal. Barca can be a coming home run for him in 3 years when Xavi and Iniesta will need more help.

I think the idea is to give Iniesta/Xavi more rest during the cupcake games, and some insurance against the "I" word. Same with Sanchez up front. Nice to have two entirely separate world-class midfields. Keita's good, but he's also 31, and I think Alcantara's at the point where he can't be kept on the B team much longer or he'll want out.Bojan has been shipped to Roma, btw. 12m with a buyback in two years, which Roma can override with another 28m or something.Exhibition game tomorrow vs. Hadjuk Split. Villa and Iniesta are the only two first-teamers set to play.

2011-12 Fantasy Premier League site is up. Who's starting the league?
I'm in for this. Are there any EPL fantasy leagues that are not salary cap games, and more like the fantasy leagues that all of us Yanks know and love?
Simprem.com offers online auction leagues but their fees are ridiculous, especially with the current exchange rate. I guess it's not surprising that salary cap leagues are more popular elsewhere because the idea of a player draft is pretty unique to American sports. It wouldn't be impossible to run a league within a league (either H2H or cumulative points) of the Official EPL site. The biggest problem would be policing add/drops, which would have to be done by some other system. It could be manageable using manual waivers and a limited number of add/drops per season. I'd be in for this but I think we'd need at least 12-14 teams to produce scarcity.

ETA: If you wanted to use premierleague.com to do the dirty work of scoring, the league would have to stay within the GBP100M salary cap for the initial draft and for any add/drops. I don't think that's a deal breaker and it actually might introduce additional strategy to find undervalued players.

http://epldreamteam.sportal.com.au// does private leagues with head to head scoring but doesn't have a draft option. They limit teams to 40 total transfers.

This is the equivalent of a Spurs-Pacers Final from a ratings standpoint.

Crazy that Brasil or Argentina didn't even make the 3rd place game.

Quality goal by the Union's Michael Farfan vs Real Madrid last night

57,305 at the Linc (including our own Steve Tasker I believe) to watch the Union battle valiently but fall 2-1

Speaking of Larissa....

With an incredible win over Brazil in Copa America semifinal, the Paraguay national football team kept the dream of its biggest and hottest fan, Larissa Riquelme, alive.

Larissa, for the second time has promised to bare it all for the team if it lifts the Copa America trophy. Larissa had promised to run naked on the streets of Paraguay if her team won the Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

As that did not happen, the 26-year-old model made another promise saying: "If Paraguay win the Copa America then, I shall pose nude on the pitch.'' She said as she gestured in the direction of the Brigadier General Estanislao Lopez Stadium before the match against Ecuador.
GO PARAGUAY!!!
Looks like we all lost. :kicksrock:

FIRE!
Nice goal for Chicago yesterday. They looked solid vs uniteds youngunsToo bad at the half they realize on comes Rooney rio giggs Nani etc. Great ball by rio and a great finish by Rooney.

Other goals were nice

Overall united didn't look great actually looking like their lackluster away form from last season

Saf says top team will play majority of next two games vs mls all-stars and then barca

Almost time for the epl season!

Uruguay could be the team for 2014 - lots of talent and on it's home continent.
They've had a good year that's for sure.CONMEBOL qualifications can be unpredictable due to some unique home field advantages and the occasional absence of European based stars. You'd expect Uruguay to finish in the top four but an Ecuador win on the last matchday of 2010 qualifiers would have put them into the playoff instead of Uruguay.Paraguay finished second in the Copa without winning a game in regulation or AET.
