Chamakh was a non-factor.
Shocking. ;)
Chamakh's resume with Bordeaux was solid and he was productive early last season when v.Persie was hurt. Granted, some of his early goals were cheapies but he didn't appear completely lost like he was later in the season. I think he was used a lot as a sub or on the wing after RVP's return which wasn't ideal for him. But in yesterday's game though, he started and lead the line so those excuses don't apply. From what I've seen, one of his best attribute is is heading skill. That depends greatly on the quality of service he gets, which yesterday wasn't very good. With the ball at his feet, he seems indecisive to me which may either be a confidence thing or a result of the increased speed of the game in the Premiership. Wenger seems content with keeping him in the squad and dumping Bendtner. Given RVP's injury record, Chamakh is likely to end up with playing time. If he can't somehow return to his old form, that's yet another problem for the Arsenal.

Watched the City/Swansea game earlier today.I get the feeling Swansea is going to have a really, really, really, really, really, really, really hard time in the Premiership. Not even a solid goalie can save you when you're getting barraged to death by shots from superior squads.
They have 37 more games to get to 40 points. Not all Premiership teams are as strong as MCFC; they only have to beat three teams, not nineteen. Home form will be critical for the Swans. They got 50 of their 80 points at home last year, leading the Championship in that category. If they can hold their own at The Liberty, they can beat the drop. The bottom of the table will be more competitive than the top again this season.
Good point, but before the game, I saw the graphic where Swan's starting 11 is valued at a measly $12.1 mil. I know they have some talented (and downright loyal) players on their team, but is it going to be enough to not just tread water with the power teams, but even the Boltons, Fultons and Villas of the league?
I think they will be a fun watch at home. The speed on the flanks is a strength especially with Sinclair. The story of the one guy who has been on the team all the way on the climb up four levels is great.
I mentioned it the other day, but Swansea just got beaten down by a far, far superior team... away. They actually dominated the first 20+ minutes and showed good tactical shape and an appealing desire to play the ball around- even from the back. But they lacked the class to go 90 away with a team that has SO many players that can kill you. But as Eephus so astutely pointed out- at home they should be pretty tough, especially against the mid-lower table teams. Hopefully the inevitable injuries don't hit too hard.

Eddie Johnson Apparently Backs Out Of MLS Deal, Wants More Money

Aug 17 11:08a by Jeremiah Oshan

A few hours after MLS announced via conference call that USMNT forward Eddie Johnson had agreed to contract terms, the league's website had removed the article. On Wednesday, it become clear why: The 27-year-old forward has apparently had second thoughts and now wants more money to play in MLS.

According to the Steven Goff of the Washington Post, the deal is now "unlikely" to happen after Johnson balked at a three-year deal that would have started off with a pro-rated year of $175,000 and gone up to $275,000 by 2013. Also according to Goff, only one MLS team had expressed a willingness to pay even that salary.

Johnson, who is currently out of contract, can continue to look for a new deal in Europe and could theoretically have second-thoughts and return to MLS by the Sept. 15 roster-freeze deadline. Perhaps fueling his thinking are reports that one of his former clubs, Greece's Aris, is interested in bringing him back.

I wish him luck. Can't really blame a guy for trying to get a better contract for a full year in Europe instead of getting in on the tail-end of the MLS season.

So do you guys stream foxsoccer.tv matches to your tv or watch them on your pc? If on tv, how is the video quality?
bump... :hey:
Not ignoring you, just have never used it. I can find almost any game online for free so never wanted to pay for fox soccer.tv
No prob, thx :)Watching the Barca Real match - are the home/away goals weighted like they are in the Champions league? I thought away goals were worth 2 and home worth 1 in the home/home series, but I saw a global score line that set it at 3-3 currently.

Away goals are the tiebreaker if it's tied after the 2nd game, similar to CL.

They dont' strictly "count" for 2. However, if the total goals are equal (say 3-3 as it is now), they go with away goals as the determining factor. Thus, the goal-away advantage "counts" like 2 goals in determining the winner.BTW, CRonaldo looks like he wants this one.

Boca signed 3 year deal with Rangers

Keane's visa came through and may play Saturday night.

Bedoya's move to Rangers was moved from this January to being immediate.

I know he is not everyone's cup of tea but I hope that NBC gives a look at Hudson when selecting their broadcast teams, assuming he does nit have a heart attack and die during this game.

And if this game ends up 2-2? Sorry for the noob questions!
