If anyone is interested in going to half of the following Union games let me know. I would like to split the partial season plan with someone who wanted 3 of San Jose, New England, KC and Chivas. I would get LA and Columbus and one of the other games and we'd each get 1 ticket to Seattle.

PLAN A

Sunday, June 27, 5:00 p.m. - Seattle Sounders FC

Saturday, July 10, 5:30 p.m. - San Jose Earthquakes

Saturday, July 31, 3:30 p.m. - New England Revolution

Thursday, August 5, 8:00 p.m. - Columbus Crew

Saturday, September 4, 3:30 p.m. - Kansas City Wizards

Saturday, September 25, 4:00 p.m. - Chivas USA

Thursday, October 7, 8:00 p.m. - LA Galaxy

PM me here if you are interested.

ESPN3 is showing the Championship playoff between Blackpool and Cardiff. About to go to half, 3-2 Blackpool. Ridiculously entertaining game so far
That was one of the most fun halves of soccer I've seen this year.
Cardiff REALLY needs to win this from a financial perspective apparently, but I just love the idea of a club with a 12,000 seat stadium in the Premier League next year. Go Blackpool!

:bye: Love the idea of a club the size of Blackpool making the PL.

Plan on watching the championship game today while my boys take a nap...

Who are the premier players on Bayern and Inter??

Mjolnirs and one of our Inter fans should be able to tell you if any of these players are hurt/suspended, cause I'm honestly not sure.Bayern - Arjen Robben (Netherlands) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany). I also like watching Phillip Lahm (Germany) play, and Ivica Olic (Croatia) has been playing well of late? Ribery is probably their most exciting player, but he's suspended.Inter - Sneijder (Netherlands) and Maicon (Brazil). I commented awhile back that Sneijder would probably be in my world XI at the moment, very fun to watch. Maicon is one of the best in the world at his almost-hybrid position.

Inter also has one of the world's best goalkeepers in Julio Cesar (Brazil), and striker Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon) has played in two Champions League finals for Barca and scored in both of them.

I really do love the promotion/relegation system. Great stories like Blackpool... hell, even Fulham, playing in tiny stadiums not much bigger than the one I played my college ball in. I always imagine US sports using the system... :bye: Cleveland.

Eto'o has been hit and miss for me. Sometimes I watch him and I'm wowed at what he can do, and sometimes he bores me. Still a good player though.

but have to... wife made freaking plans for us today. DVR will be my friend, this thread- the enemy.
What?!? :lmao: I tried to explain this to the gf. It's the ####### super bowl today. #### off. I'll see you tonight. And my team isn't even in it. Dude, you seriously need to adjust your priorities :bye:

Big game player. He scores today
I think it's Milito today. But I think Robben scores for Bayern and some German dude heads home some slop to win it 2-1.

I'm still completely blown away by the fact that this game is being shown on a broadcast network. Throw in this FSC pre-game show, and this is almost Super Bowl-esque.

We've come such a long way in this country. It's fantastic.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but the stakes for this match are even higher than just between the two clubs, because if Bayern wins, Germany gets a 4th Champions League place in 2011-12, and Italy drops down to three places. Lot on the line today between these two countries.

Wow. That's huge. I was unaware the the actual # of spots changed like that. How does the process work overall?

Taskles,You taping the lax game or just switching back and forth
Switching back and forth, but obviously this game is a lot more important for me. I don't have a lot of free time to watch taped games this weekend. I'm DVRing it, but I might just watch the goals later as I'll already know the outcome.

Here's the wikipedia link explaining the UEFA coefficients Link. It's a pretty complicated calculation. But basically, the top three ranked UEFA assocations each get four entries into the CL. England and Spain are 1-2, and right now, Germany is actually ahead of Italy for 3rd. But if Inter wins today, they jump back ahead of Germany. And this all kicks in two years out anyway, so Italy gets four clubs in the CL next season regardless.

Here's a blog post discussing this further:Link

El Floppo = :XShocker there (plus a shot of Mourinho - take 2 drinks) - dare I say that I have Bayern as the better team so far?Dimichelis got owned.

Bayern are being patient with their build up, but a little too patient for me. As the game goes longer with Inter up, their defense will start getting more compact. Robben and Olic are going to have to run at Inter.

The biggest knock against Bayern this year has been the number of goals they give up. Demichelis and Van Buyten have to stay focused in the back.

You don't know how many times I DVR'd a game in NYC and had someone ruin the outcome for me. It's tough on the walk home. Keep your headphones on blast and never casually look at any tvs while passing by bars and restaurants. Great game. Really happy for Cambiasso and Zanetti. :banned:

My wifes 95 year old gramps who usually doesnt even watch futbol blew it for me tonight when I called him to say gnite. As soon as I got on the phone with him I said "DO NOT TELL ME THE SCORE OF THE SOCCER GAME IF YOU SAW IT AS I TAPED IT AND I AM GONNA WATCH IT TONIGHT". He said ok and then says "I can't believe It Lee got two goals from that same guy to win". "It was 2-0." "What a great game" I wanted/want to strangle him as I avoided EVERYTHING today so I wouldn't hear about it. His parents were born in Italy btw.

ah, he's 95. what do you expect?like others on the previous page said, i was in shock the other day when i heard this game was on FOX. not fox espanol, not fox soccer channel - FOX. as in, the same network that shows world series and super bowls. wow. this isn't the world cup, this isn't the world cup final or a us friendly. this is inter milan vs. bayern munich - italy vs. germany - on american network TV. i honestly never thought this day would come. as for the game i really wanted to see bm win and i thought they had the better of the play for good chunks, but that was partially due to inter's desire to sit back and play italian football. robben >> sneijder. i was surprised at how little schweinstager and lahm did. the bayern defense was its typical sieve. i figured it had to be better to get to the final, because this was always a concern. kind of unfair that they had to play the match without ribery.
