Liverpool's Philippe SenderosThat was my thinking too. He must not have seen Kuyt.He was trying to chip it over for Johnson I believe. Too cute.
Liverpool's backline is worse than Arsenal's
you went, right? what was the atmosphere like? I'm hoping it was at least a little rabid, given the whole "need to win" thing, and not all girls' soccer "yeah for everybody!".Nice win by the US women's team yesterday. Really dominated the second half. Sat back a bit with the goal but showed much more fire than Italy. About 9500 at the game.
how about just calling them "spurs"?yeah- totally agree they're fun to watch. any other teams you've gotten to see that are entertaining to you?i'm a newbie to watching soccer, but tottenham is by far the most entertaining team to watch imo. i would really root for them if it weren't for the whole "hotspurs" nickname thing....
It was lame. When Rodriguez scored it was loud but other than a few tepid U-S-A chants it sucked. Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".eta it was cold but really not that bad out.you went, right? what was the atmosphere like? i've been watching pretty solid for a couple of years now, and started watching the world cup several years back. i've seen just about all of the major teams play (at least the ones that are shown here in the u.s.). i like watching inter (fan of sneider) and barcelona (messi of course). i've had a hard time finding one particular team to really get on board with. i feel like i'm jumping on the yankees bandwagon or something if i cheer for man u or barcelona.how about just calling them "spurs"?yeah- totally agree they're fun to watch. any other teams you've gotten to see that are entertaining to you?i'm a newbie to watching soccer, but tottenham is by far the most entertaining team to watch imo. i would really root for them if it weren't for the whole "hotspurs" nickname thing....
what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".
Meaning that instead of a 17k person stadium we'd be sitting in an american football stadium that was at capacity.what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".
Those hold about 250 in Italy, right?Meaning that instead of a 17k person stadium we'd be sitting in an american football stadium that was at capacity.what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".
There so many things wrong with this statement, I hope you had the sense to smack the youngin upside his head and educate himMeaning that instead of a 17k person stadium we'd be sitting in an american football stadium that was at capacity.what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".
1) Toyota Park holds 20KI took her point to being that it is unfortunate that a game as important as this one wasn't really pumped in the U.S. I was at the US game v China a few years ago at Ford Field in detroit, I think that may have set a record for a crowd(non WC game)? There so many things wrong with this statement, I hope you had the sense to smack the youngin upside his head and educate himMeaning that instead of a 17k person stadium we'd be sitting in an american football stadium that was at capacity.what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".1) Toyota Park holds 20K
2) The US Italy game was played in Padova at Stadio Euganeo which holds 17,500 for soccer. http://www.padovanet.it/immagini/C_1_Immag...94_Immagine.jpg
3) There were 5000 at the game in Italy in Padova just a couple of weeks ago representing almost the identical situation the teenager mentioned
4) The US women traditionally have the best attendance home games of any women's teams in the world.
That point seems valid to a point by itself. Backing that point up with the faulty information that this game would have drawn better in Italy is wrong is so many ways though that the point was lost. For many combined reasons women's soccer in the US is at its lowest popularity in a long long time. As many know on here, the WPS is on life support and may very well go under in the next year or so. If it does go under as expected, their will likely not be another womens professional soccer league for another 7-10 years.I took her point to being that it is unfortunate that a game as important as this one wasn't really pumped in the U.S.There so many things wrong with this statement, I hope you had the sense to smack the youngin upside his head and educate himMeaning that instead of a 17k person stadium we'd be sitting in an american football stadium that was at capacity.what does this mean?Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".1) Toyota Park holds 20K

espn3any good links to watch the game today?3 o'clock start? (EST)
Yes, usually. I'll be recording the game on GolTV en Espanol.Does ESPN3 allow you watch on-demand games later?
Benzema is a significant downgrade over Higuain IMO.Gettin pretty excited about the game today.Benzema to get the start over Higuaín BTW. Looks like "el pipa" is a bit nicked up.
Definitely. Di Maria, CRonaldo, and Sir Higuain have been exceptional lately. Losing the point of that attacking trident is a blow to their chances. Benzema is on the verge of being sold off for parts.Benzema is a significant downgrade over Higuain IMO.Gettin pretty excited about the game today.Benzema to get the start over Higuaín BTW. regular season. The two giants only play each other twice a year so each game is a big eventCan someone tell me what the match is today? Is it just a regular season match or is it in some sort of cup?
League match. Barcelona and Real Madrid rarely meet in Copa del Rey, particuarly since Madrid frequently struggles with 3rd division sides. Can someone tell me what the match is today? Is it just a regular season match or is it in some sort of cup?
)This game is on par with a quarterfinal CL game IMO. More than that on an emotional level, less than that on a "silverware" level. For the fans of either team, getting one over on their hated rivals is golden.regular season. The two giants only play each other twice a year so each game is a big eventCan someone tell me what the match is today? A lot of commentators have mentioned Higuain struggling this season. While I think that's been a bit overblown, he isn't in the same form as last season and Benzema looked good in CL play last week. I think Higuain is one of the more replaceable players on the team. Ronaldo, Ozil, DiMaria, Xabi Alonso, Carvalho, Casillas, and arguably Marcelo are more essential this year, IMO.Definitely.
