Anyone have any info on Bale possibly leaving Spurs for a bigger club? While I don't think he's the best player in the world, as some pundits might, I think he's gotta be in the world's best XI at the moment. Makes me wonder how long he'll be at Spurs for....I can't imagine that United/Chelsea haven't yet inquired.

i'm a newbie to watching soccer, but tottenham is by far the most entertaining team to watch imo. i would really root for them if it weren't for the whole "hotspurs" nickname thing....

It was lame. When Rodriguez scored it was loud but other than a few tepid U-S-A chants it sucked. Teenager in front of us said "if this was in Italy we'd be at Soldier Field".eta it was cold but really not that bad out.

i've been watching pretty solid for a couple of years now, and started watching the world cup several years back. i've seen just about all of the major teams play (at least the ones that are shown here in the u.s.). i like watching inter (fan of sneider) and barcelona (messi of course). i've had a hard time finding one particular team to really get on board with. i feel like i'm jumping on the yankees bandwagon or something if i cheer for man u or barcelona.

3) There were 5000 at the game in Italy in Padova just a couple of weeks ago representing almost the identical situation the teenager mentioned
4) The US women traditionally have the best attendance home games of any women's teams in the world.

That point seems valid to a point by itself. Backing that point up with the faulty information that this game would have drawn better in Italy is wrong is so many ways though that the point was lost.For many combined reasons women's soccer in the US is at its lowest popularity in a long long time. As many know on here, the WPS is on life support and may very well go under in the next year or so. Benzema is a significant downgrade over Higuain IMO.

Definitely. Di Maria, CRonaldo, and Sir Higuain have been exceptional lately. Losing the point of that attacking trident is a blow to their chances. Benzema is on the verge of being sold off for parts.

This game is on par with a quarterfinal CL game IMO. More than that on an emotional level, less than that on a "silverware" level. For the fans of either team, getting one over on their hated rivals is golden.

A lot of commentators have mentioned Higuain struggling this season. While I think that's been a bit overblown, he isn't in the same form as last season and Benzema looked good in CL play last week. I think Higuain is one of the more replaceable players on the team. Ronaldo, Ozil, DiMaria, Xabi Alonso, Carvalho, Casillas, and arguably Marcelo are more essential this year, IMO.
