Philly Union season ticket holder here. Theyre #1 for me. As far as Europe goes, I'm a Man United fan from way back, but these days I find myself also pulling for teams featuring Nat players (Fulham, Everton, etc)

That was an easy red card. Two-footed lunge, off his feet, into the ankles. AC Milan have to consider themselves luck to still have 11 on the field.
:goodposting: Horrible tackle. And nice to see Gattuso's thug-colors shining through.

I forget how I'm supposed to root these Champions League things. Am I allowed to cheer for Spurs, since they're an English club, or is there some grave injustice of the past that I'm supposed to remember as a Liverpool fan?

Right now, my decision matrix is to cheer for the Premier League club unless they're Chelsea or ManU. Then, root for the other guys.
I never pull for EPL teams, but being a Bundesliga fan I'm pull against all Italian teams for coefficient reasons. Of course that logic goes out the window when Man U or Chelsea are playing..

Guilty.

Yes!!

Charlie Davies has officially been signed on loan by DC United. He will wear his #9. Press conference at 2:00pm today.

Reports out of camp from his coach Ben Olsen indicate that he will be competing for a starting spot. United general manager said "he has simply looked terrific" after admitting they were not sure how he was going to look when he joined them for the check out.

United will also have the option to purchase him out right at the end of the 12 month loan.

Davies first game should be the March 19th home opener. Ironically on March 18 the driver that hit their car is scheduled to be sentenced.

DC was one of the least interesting teams for me last year. Now with Davies and Najar, it should be a fun team to follow.

I don't understand how this relates to the Revs. Unpack please.
it doesn't.As I said it is just depressing to see a team generate more excitement and enthusiasm in a couple of months than the Revs have managed to generate in almost 14 years. The Kraft's and Sunil have basically killed the Revs who now have to sit near the very bottom of the league when it comes to support from fans or business.

Red Bulls choke away a 2-0 1st half lead to Chivas and lose 3-2. I don't care that it's a friendly- always a great thing to see the Cows lose :pickle:

Floppo this is actually good news in a way. The first team looked EXCELLENT against the Goats. Remember that this was not the MLS version of Chivas, this was the MFL team. The first team Red Bulls dominated the game. They lost the plot once they made like 5 subs late in the second half and also had a player tossed (an MLS player tossed in a CONCACAF away game?? Who ever heard of such a thing :) ) and subsequently gave up all 3 goals in the last 20 minutes.Agudelo continues to look good. He had a nice header for a goal

Thanks andy- I was more up in arms over that other "city" 's comments.

I'm a Tottenham fan by default. My wife was a Tottenham fan when she grew up in England and my brother-in-law lives in North London and is a Tottenham fan. I found it really hard to not love the way they play so it was a pretty nice fit anyway.

I am also a proud member of the Ian Holloway fan club so I guess that makes Blackpool a second choice.

On the word stage the pecking order is US, Wales, England, Scotland.

Nasri starting for Arsenal. Barca 11 ValdesAlves, Pique, Abidal, Maxwell Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi Pedro, Messi, Villa
Nasri playing is a big deal. The chinks in the Barcelona armor are set pieces and speed. Having Nasri opposite Walcott will make it difficult to give Maxwell support.

I hate everyone that is able to watch this live. Here's to hoping I'll be able to avoid the score for the rest of the day.

:goodposting: not watching live, but got the espn gamecast on at work... cant watch, but get great commentary like this:"TV replays show Messi taking a football to the nuts in the warm up. Maybe it will hamper his performance...""However, the little Argentine has scored 13 goals in his last 11 Champions League starts, including four in one game against Arsenal."

It shouldn't be tough to avoid in the US. Just don't look on any sports news sites or forums (including in here).

Walcott and Van Persie are working great together.

I really hope the ref doesn't botch this great match-up by getting overzealous with the cards.

Oh #### that was close!

intersting game so far at 30min... not as much possession as Barca is used to- playing a more English style direct game, and still so lethal with it.

Announcer in the Manchester derby made the comment that with so much class on the field for both teams, each one has players capable of changing the game purely on their own.

eta: lol... as I was writing that, Barca has put on a passing demonstration clinic

Their backline isn't good enough to hold Barca to just the one goal. They are going to need three penalties at this rate.Van Persie couldn't hit the broad side of a barn tonight.

Alves wins a freekick by diving... shock horror.

Pique takes out Fabregas off the ball and gets booked. He will miss the second leg.

Fabregas will take the freekick...

...It's absolute garbage. Straight into Valdes' hands.

love the commentary

VAN PERSIE! That's more like it.

Don't feel good about going to Camp Nou with a draw though. Have to pour on the pressure now while they've got the crowd and momentum.

Arshavin looks like he handled the ball in the box. Barca play on and it is a scramble as a series of shots are blocked by Gunners' defenders throwing themselves at the ball.

2-1 isnt a great score for Barca but the away goal helps. Arsenal get the home win. Need at least 1 away goal if they draw or a win puts them through. Should be an exciting return leg.
