It's been over a month, so I thought I'd bump these:

So who do you guys think is getting sent down at the end of the year?IMO,West HamBirminghamWigan
I'll go with:West HamAston VillaWest Brom
My bet as of right now would beWBAHamWolves (with Wigan just eeking them out)I don't care how bad Villa is playing, until it actually happens, I don't think they relegate (btw, they also have a game in hand on most).
Currently there are 8 points separating the bottom 11 teams:

Blackpool is not doing itself any favors with today's implosion. Nice red, DJ.

2pm Eastern on Gol TV for anyone interested.Since Robben and Ribery have both been healthy and on the field together Bayern are 3-0 scoring 8 against 1. Hopefully the trend continues.
Anyone watch this? It was a pretty good back and forth game with Dortmund winning 3-1. Dortmund's defense simply wouldn't let Bayern's playmakers have any space. This also had to be one of the worst games I've seen Schweinsteiger play. :bag:

He's beyond both of those defenders.
his head isn't past the dark green section of the line and the top defender is a yard across it...and the ball has already been played....if we're getting that technical. :bag:
Yes it is
wrong.
I can see it clear as day.
are you really not seeing the defender in red on the far side of the field lunging to try to pull the trap? Follow the dark strip of grass across the field towards Messi and it's clear as day you're wrong.

Like Z said... I've got FSC and ESPN Deportes- it's EPL, Serie A and the occasional La liga game for me.

Messi's head is beyond that back foot.Don't just look at the pic. In the video it shows that defender wasn't lunging to try to pull the offside trap. He was moving backwards.

following that strip of dark grass across- Messi's left pinky maybe was beyond the guy's foot- if that counts to you as off-side, ok then.and what other medium than a still-photo best shows offsides? I don't need to see what happened before or after the moment the pass was made (you're right, the guy I mentioned is tracking back) to see if it was or wasn't. it wasn't.

funny too- this is EXACTLY the kind of thing you and I both feel the need to argue ad nauseum. As much as I want to- I. Just. Cant. Help. Myself...

It has been so long since the team has been together, I am unsure what the lineup will be against Argentina. Here is my best guess as of today assuming everyone is availableHowardCherundolo Gooch Ream BocaHolden Edu Bradley LanDonDempsey JozyWhat do you guys think?
Lancashire Jones instead of Edu... but otherwise, why not?
How is Jones playing?Edu has been playing really well for Rangers.

I watched Gooch's last game. He did not do badly at left back. But he had almost no ability to attack. Bradley likes his wing full backs top push up, I am not sure Gooch has that ability on the left side. Note that Gooch's lineage is as a wing back though. He was a fun attacking right wing back on the golden U17 team with Landon, DMB and Convey.

Ashley Cole shoots Chelsea fan

Ashley Cole shoots Chelsea fan - report

February 26, 2011

By ESPNsoccernet staff

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has allegedly shot and wounded a work experience boy at the club after "larking" around with an air rifle, according to the News of the World.

The incident happened last Sunday at the Chelsea's Cobham training ground when Cole took the .22 gun from a box, not realising it was loaded, and accidentially fired at Tom Cowan, 21, from just five feet away.

A source told the News of the World: "It's truly inconceivable that a Premier League footballer could bring a gun to the training ground.

"But Ashley pulled the rifle from a box and started larking about with it in the changing room, not realising it was loaded. It ended up pointed at Tom just five feet away.

"The gun went off with a loud pop and Tom screamed as this lead pellet hit him in the side. It went through his clothing and into his flesh."

Cowan received treatment from the Chelsea medical staff and was given two days to rest after the ordeal, which was witnessed by a dozen staff members of the club.

Police were not called and the source went on to say that Chelsea officials were concerned that "it would be a PR disaster if this became public knowledge, so the club has closed ranks over it".

At present there has been no word from Chelsea about the alleged incident.

I made the mistake of staying up and watching Newcastle v Bolton last night.

I must've just been tired/cranky because teh way Bolton played against 10 men actually made me angry. I even had angry dreams. I'd swear I've seen Bolton play some decent flowing stuff- Coyle-style. Watching last night, you wouldn't know they were capable of putting 3 passes together. They simply had no idea what to do with the extra man: keep pumping it long to Davies in the middle, even though it hasn't worked and even though THEY HAVE AN EXTRA MAN. They made the quick pass when they needed to draw a defender to them, and then dribbled when they were surrounded by defenders. Nobody stepped up into the space behind the forwards to put pressure on the opposing D, so the Magpies had space and time to deal with every attack and then space and time to organize their own. Kudos to Newcastle for actually dominating that last 40 min on sheer willpower, hustle and tactical awareness. But to a man, Bolton was useless. Even Coyle waited too long to get a new player in there to try to change things up. I'm not even a Bolton fan, so there's no reason for my panties to be bunched the way they are.

It still amazes me that Walcott wasn't brought to WC2010. I'm not sad though as I really enjoy seeing England fail. Shame that it came at the hands of ze Germans.
He wasn't in very good form and was constantly injured. I was more surprised that Adam Johnson didn't make it.At this time last year, Theo Walcott was a blazingly fast winger who couldn't cross the ball because he never lifted his head.Today he's much more accomplished at cutting inside as the "inside forward" in Arsenal's withdrawn 4-3-3 (more of a 4-2-1-2-1, actually) and in actually looking up and picking out his man.
Totally agree here.

And now there are only 6 points separating the bottom 11. The relegation battle (unlike the championship battle) is going to be really good.

I know it's the League Cup and no one really cares, but ####, are you guys even TRYING to win the game today? No silverware since 2005...
They better care. It's one of three domestic trophies and the winner secures a spot in Europe.
The pro-Arsenal chants at the end of yesterday's game at Villa Park were pretty funny.
I wasn't paying attention. But you have to love cross-town rivalries.

Got up early just to watch that garbage. I can't even find an excuse because West Ham just dominated them. They weren't going to go undefeated the rest of the way, but damn...that was an ugly loss. Carragher is done. He's so slow that he doesn't want to close anyone down and on all three goals he's standing in front of the supplier or the scorer yards off. That Scott Parker goal was sweet, though.

What a joke that World Cup bidding process was. So corrupt.

I hope Qatar fails miserably and the whole thing is a worse debacle than the Commonwealth Games that just happened in India.
