Partial stadium collapse for FC Twente (Netherlands)...they were increasing the capacity of one of their stands and the roof fell in, apparently trapping the construction workers. 1 believed dead and others injured.

I saw that too. Terrible. And I'm sure I'm going to hell for finding this comment a little... funny sounding: "Dish ish a dishaschter"

Huge Group A game today. Bolivia needs to beat Costa Rica by more than a goal to be in good standing. If Bolivia does win there could very easily be an agreement made between Bolivia and Columbia for a draw that would put them both at the top of the table with 6pts and make Argentina have to blow out Costa Rica, which even if they did may allow Bolivia and Colombia to advance as the wild cards.

The Reds OFFICIALLY land Adam (8M£ + Darby and Shelvey on loan)

Makes for a crowded midfield, but I like the move. He's got a filthy left foot and should do well setting up Carroll.

Now...who goes to make room? :not#4not#4:

Right now they could look like this

Code:
Carroll Suarez Adam Gerrard Henderson LucasJohnson Skrtel Carragher Kelly

Wow, Costa Rica had a chance to put that away, missed PK and another miss off the rebound. Up 1-0 and a man up. Argentina is nervous right now.

Lol, now its 11-9 after another Bolivia red card. Costa Rica has hit two posts off free kicks.............

And Costa Rica just put it away with another goal, 2-0, Argentina rejoices.

Horrible no offsides call on that goal.
Just made up for it with a horrible offsides call.
Disagree. He was definitely offsides.
Actually rewinding on the DVR for the first goal, you are totally wrong on both calls.Neither were offsides.
Pause it at :19 secs

He's onside.
I'd rather not.
Am I missing something, please let me know.

If Sebowski won't explain, can some expert explain how this is offsides?

Really an exciting match here from Mexico/Germany U-17s on ESPNU. It was 1-1 within 10 minutes and 1-1 at the half. Mexico has been dominating the entire second half, but a brilliant run from the German captain made it 2-1 in the 60th. Mexico just equalized off a corner in the 76th. The goal actually went in directly from the corner kick after a clash of heads on the goalline. The Mexican player (Gomez - the scorer of their first goal) is bleeding like crazy and being patched up on the field. Mexico's used all their subs so they'll have to go down to 10 men if he can't continue.

After about 7 minutes on the sideline, Gomez is back on the field. He looks somewhat dazed, like he barely knows where he is.

Are you ####### kidding me?

Julio Gomez, his head wrapped like a mummy, scores a bicycle kick off a corner to make it 3-2 in the 90th...

Just finished watching the Germany v Mexico match. Wow! What a start and what a finish.

It sucks to see Germany lose, but Mexico flat out took it to them. That kid that scored the winning goal has some heart.

I was glad to see at least one German player shaking hands with the Mexican team because the rest of the team was either throwing tantrums or going after the refs.

Impressive closing by the Mexico U-17 squad - helped by the home country support. It's hard to predict whatU-17 success means for the long-term future, Mexico looks to be entering a good stretch for their national team. They might end up being the country that got screwed the hardest by the Qatar decision, because Mexico might have been among the favorites in a U.S.-based World Cup in 22.

I did not see this game but I watched the video in the link. On the sequence shown here there are multiple snapshots for the Assistant Referee to capture in his mind. The first is when the ball was played to the original attacker both players were on side(they were even with the second to last defender). From there you have to watch where the player without the ball goes. Is he even with the ball or 2TLD. It is hard to tell from the angle of this video but when the shot is taken it looks to me like he was even with the ball. He moves forward and is in a perfect place for the deflection from the keeper. In determining offside it is when it was last played by your own teammate. Looks like a great call by the AR in a dynamic play.

That's what I thought, thanks. When Sebowski said it I really didn't think about it. Since I was watching it on Telemundo, I'm not sure if it was an issue with the commentators. When the first player took the shot, the eventual goal scorer looked right on line with the defender, so I thought he was clearly onside. I wasn't sure if I was missing/forgetting something when Sebowski didn't say the same.

looks like United's bid for Nasri was rejected again. Can't say I blame Arsenal for not letting a key guy go to a top league competitor, but their asking price is a bit ridiculous, imho. What really sucks about that, is now United is almost certainly going to make a strong play for the dutch, diving, hobbit.

Also, all kinds of drama at the Eastlands. Tevez wants out, Adebayor is pissed, as is Bellamy...and while neither is necessarily a first teamer, there is a limit to the number of players you can have signed and if these guys are not going to be loaned, no one wants to pay their salaries, City's gonna handcuff themselves pretty badly here. Only a handful of teams in the world can afford the likes of some of their players and with the salaries city's been handing out, who is gonna wanna pay Tevez 800K/week, etc...

Also, I like Adam a lot, but I'm gonna be real interested to see how he plays out in Liverpool. Guy's a bit of a prima donna, glory hound. Remember him really getting into it on a pk vs spurs I think after he just missed one, adamant about taking the one like 2 minutes later. I understand the tenacity there, but the way he went about it was kind of a #### way to do it, and Liverpool is not his team. I think his act is gonna wear a bit thin there. Liverpool does have too many quality midfielders, I still think Meireles is gonna be gone, I think there is gonna be some discontentment about playing time between all those guys if no one is moved. Not like you can pay 20m for Henderson and not play him at all cause he's the youngest/newest of the bunch. Guys on teams that are winning trophies tend to ##### and moan wayyyyy less than those that are teams not winning. just saying.

Manchester United have announced that defender Chris Smalling has signed a new five-year contract at Old Trafford

I like it. The depth at center back is outstanding now. Rio cant be counted on for a full season so with Smalling, Vidic and Jones there Rio can rest and play in the big games.

What's the price?Nasri was easily the team's best player this past season, IMO.

they rejected 20 mil. I'm not sure what they're asking. I think there is a premium if United, Chelsea or Man City ask. I think the reason he was easily the best Gunner was more to attrition than anything else. Gervinho would be a nice pull for Arsenal too. You can say good bye to perennial underachiever Bendtner.

Jordan Henderson got 16 million. I don't see how 20 million for a guy who was leading candidate for PFA player of the year for much of the season is something Arsenal would be compelled to accept. Nasri is still only 24.
