Guud Hiddink is available.
So is Bora
No ####, I almost posted this. Turns out he's stuck with the Iraqi Olympic squad.Steve Sampson, however, IS available.
Bora has been replaced by Radi Shneishil (I couldn't make up a name like that). Bora is available and is roughly the same age as Redknapp and Capello. How about Maradona? He has experience on the international level.
Wikipedia was WRONG about something?!

No way Mou takes the ENG job. He's got a chip on his shoulder right now in the Barcelona stuff and wants to bury them in la liga and possible CL as well.
Which very well may happen, but is there anything to the rumors that Mourinho's already gone from RM due to internal strife? And if he goes, would Mourinho-to-Spurs be less likely given that Spurs have some financial constraints that Citeh and Chelsea don't?I always imagine that national team managers sit at a desk and twiddle their thumbs most of the day, occasionally getting a coffee or popping in a tape of an old game as they wait around.
There is significantly less day to day stuff, which is why the pay at the top levels is generally so much less I would wager.
Capello made 6M GBP per year
He was making by far and away the most out of any national team manager. On average, they make a lot less than a comparable big name club manager.
True, but we're talking about England. The FA will have to pay top dollar for any high visibility manager because they set the bar so high with Don Fabio.
I think the next manager will be the highest paid as well, but I don't think they will ramp it up to what Capello was making.

You think the Hand of God would be given the reigns to the English team? Or did I miss the sarcasm?

It was as serious as Steve Sampson

Steve Sampson is always serious.

Awesome slate of EPL games tomorrow. I've got four set to record: ManU-Liverpool, Landycakes-Chelsea, Arsenal-Sunderland, and Spurs-Newcastle.

What, no Bolton-Wigan? :P
I love relation battles. I find them infinitely more entertaining than the poor teams stuck in the middle. Throw in the fact that there is a chance to see Ream get demolished by EPL level strikers could make for a lot of fun :)

I've said it before, and I think I'm alone here- but ok with that- ... I don't think Alex Morgan is all that. Pretty plain, IMO. Not ugly or anything, but nothing special.
Let's not offdee the soccer thread.Besides, it's hard to compete with that sexy photo of Owen Coyle posted a few pages ago.

Bolton is my favorite team. As much as anything I was poking some fun at myself as I will watch them over more anticipated matches.

my bad, long week....

You're not alone.
She's boosted by the fact that, with the exception of Solo, there's no real "lookers" on the US Soccer Team.I think she does have a very pretty face and solid body, but I wonder why SI had to resort to the airbrushing.

That's interesting. What made you become a fan of Bolton?
Always watched the EPL but never had a 'team'. Started watching them more when Holden joined and I really like Owen Coyle's style. Being a sucker for the underdog doesn't hurt either.

Stupid DVR didn't record the game since it was on ESPN2. Missed the first 35 minutes. Anything interesting happen?

I'm juiced about Spurs / Newcastle. If the Toon can get a point there, it'll help in the battle vs. Arsenal and Chelsea for 4th.

Suarez is such a little #####
this.I love the way he plays, which makes it suck to see the (albeit typical for a S American) diving/whining/play-acting/histrionics antics. But how he's handled this racism thing, from what I understand of it, has been immature and antagonistic. Ok- you've said something that somebody else finds offensive... you can either say "oh- sorry, I didn't mean to offend you and I apogize if it did- won't do it again", or act like an 18yo boy who's just hurt his gf's feelings and then blames the girl for feeling how she does "Hey- I didn't mean anything by it, so you have no right to be hurt". If he had just done the former- which from what I understand he hasn't- this would have been as diffused as possible, but he didn't. The yanking his hand away nonsense before the game- idiotic. For that matter, the Liverpool fans booing Evra still makes no sense to me and comes across as poor class- you're upset that that guy has made serious claims against your player who then gets suspended by the FA after an investigation? Then boo the FA, not the player. Even worse was Chelsea fans booing Rio Ferdinand for his brother's accusations. Ugh. The whole thing.but re: the game... Valencia and Welbeck have looked very good, Gerard too. Interesting game to watch for all the MF and positional battle, even if there haven't been many chances.

I really think Valencia is elite. The guy has no weaknesses that I can see. Great pace, strength, hits good crosses, makes good runs, decent in the air. Hell, he even defends.

Every Man U game I watch, the opposing LB is the most tired and miserable man on the pitch (other than De Gea)

He's an exceptional winger that can play further into the middle of the pitch than most. I guess the only thing I could say about his game is his finishing.

Big fan. Guy can't use his left foot to save his life though.

I think it's one case where Sir Alex at times has been too cute. Valencia is everything you want in a pure winger except for the tricks. Which means that maybe he's a small step down from Nani when Nani is in form and everything is working. But how often is that? The Chicharito goal last week was started from an insane, lung busting run from Valencia.

Does anyone know if this is Landon's last EPL game? I think it might be although he may be available for the FA Cup match next week

He can be very good. But for me, "elite" is somebody who can play the way he did today every game. Valencia tends to disappear too much so far to fall into that elite category, IMO.

It will be interesting to see how Liverpool handle this. Suarez is doing the Liverpool brand no favors and, to be honest, Dalgish isn't helping either. They just keep dragging this thing out with their pettiness.

He had a crappy game last week, but he's played pretty well every other game he has started. His one weakness is he is really can't cut inside. Not yet anyway. Maybe that will change as he develops.

Bayern with goals from Gomez and Müller beat Kaiserslautern 2-0 and stay within 2 points of Dortmund. Schalke and Gladbach play each other later today.

I think he's had a nice run of games lately, but I don't recall him stepping up into elite range in most ofthe games I've seen him in this year. Again- yeah, he has some amazing moments where he looks able to dominate from the flank with his pace and skills (as he did for much of today), and he also works very hard on both sides of the ball, which is crucial to rise to the next level IMO.And yeah- he could use some work on his left, but there are plenty of one-footed elite players out there. Again- it's his inconsistency that keeps him a peg down.

Was it against CHelsea? He actually did cut the ball inside, beat a few guys and then hit that instep righty shot that hit the far post or come very near... stunning play.

Great assist from Donovan. Really wish he could finish the season in the EPL (wish he would have spent the last 4yrs there, for that matter, but anywho...). Great save by Howard on the other end too. Maing me long for a meaningful USMNT game.
