Marriner. He isn't awful, but the top refs should really be on the top games.Edit: Kompany really got up on that header. He wasn't that far out, but he had to time that jump perfectly.

Love his intensity and work rate out there. Great as a more defensive-minded winger.Of course I have to imagine he'll be coming off soon, because what he does doesn't help United much right now.

I don't like Macca either. Darke is very solid, although I think eventually Arlo White is going to surpass him (for American centric games anyway).I can't stand McManaman.Darke is class but McManaman doesn't add much IMO.

Good point made on ESPN Gamecast.
With Maradona, Ballotelli and Tevez all in the stadium at the same time we could see the whole stadium spontaneously combust.

Outside of the far touch line there are white long hash marks about 40 yards from goal, on both sides of midfield. What are they?

I think the coaches are on the near touch line. I am referring to the far side touch line where the TV cameras face 95% of the time.

yup, whole team did not look good.
Jones worst game to date. He's had some bad one's, but this one :XHe's so young, I just don't think he's ready on the largest stage just yet, in particular without a firm grasp of his position.
City was just plain better, no doubt about it. I have no complaints about the lineup SAF fielded, he's often done the same with huge games, but I think leaving Valencia off the starting lineup may have been a mistake. Nani has not been at top form of late, and Valencia has really had outstanding stretches of play. The City defense is the best there is, and you are not going to easily break it down, it's going to take something special. United had nothing special to offer today. The 45'+ goal is a real killer, when you are playing okay and a draw will not hurt you. The deeper you go into the game scoreless, the more desperate City becomes, and thus more susceptible to the counter. Once they get the lead though, it's good night Irene.0 shots on goal :(

It happened right after the Welbeck foul so I imagine Ferguson initiated it.There were a handful of injuries, but none were very long. The added total could have been 5 minutes, but given the general paramaters of added time it seemed pretty generous.

Congrats to City on the win. 8 GD will be hard to overcome, hope Newcastle bounces back from their Wigan loss and City's away form comes up short.Otherwise in the next two United need to score goals like its a Bahrainian world cup qualifier.....

That foul looked a lot worse to me the first time I saw it. On the replay, it was more sloppy than vicious from DeJong. But I'm guessing Ferguson saw it more like I did the first time and thus the anger.

I think their lineup pretty clearly showed their intentions. With their experience, United came out quicker and less tentative, actually having the better first ten minutes or so. They could have easily got a goal there. When City finally gained their footing United fell back and defended well. They were playing away against a better squad so I think it was actually a pretty sound strategy. Nick one early with experience or defend the draw and hope for maybe a counter.I don't understand why Valencia wasn't in instead of Parks. Nani was clearly their for the offense abd can play either side, but Valencia is good on offense, defense, and a workhorse to boot. That makes no sense to me.

He's a butcher. Damn dirty player. But, that particular foul wasn't that bad. Outside of the Kompany yellow card Marriner actually had a good game.

I agree. In years past SAF trusted certain players in bigger games and Park was one of them. But this last year his play has tailed off and he has lost time so it was not the best move, esp if you leave your MVP (Valencia) on the bench. I think you could see the experience being played with Giggs, Scholes, Park and Nani out there. Not surprised Rafael and Evans werent on after Everton but I think Evans should have played over Jones, hindsight and all...
I only watched the last 30 on the breakroom tv, but had the espn gamecast on for the 1st half. Rooney seemed nonexistant and Welbeck looked lost. Bottom line City came to win, United came to draw...

United looked devoid of ideas, pace and verve - really, we looked like a mid-table side with one eye on the pina coladas and deckchairs. We did indeed deserve to lose.
Park is a demented Energizer bunny with minimal skill. Fergie loves a player with a good motor and Park has a great one. Unfortunately, when he gets the ball he displays all the control of the aforementioned bunny.
