He's dead to me on the club level.So United shot down a Chels approach for Cheech.I'm still saying Dempsey would look good and play well in Blue. Not the pacey guy they maybe are looking for to play next to Torres, but I still think would be a good fit up high.

Cazorla, Gervinho, and Walcott all in the lineup this morning along with Podolski. Wonder if one of those 3 will be lined up as a striker alongside Podolski. Diaby and Arteta in the center midfield. Ramsey and Giroud on the bench.

I think the plan is to have Giroud up top with Podolski wide eventually. absolutely agree. He makes a deft first touch, can shift around the first defender, but more often than not doesn't put the ball in a place where his teammate can score, or shoots it into a defender. I wouldn't be that panicked as an Arsenal fan after this game, they started a lot of new players, and let's face it, Sunderland had no interest in scoring in this one unless it was handed to them on a silver platter. Everyone behind the ball is always going to make it tough.Cazorla looked great. Sunderland was able to shift tactics a bit and have cattermole shadow him and not allow him any free space and that really worked a lot.It's a work in progress, but I think they will get better - they'll stop running over each other, will figure out ways to get guys free. One thing I do wonder about though is they have a lot of guys from different countries (Spain, France, Germany, England, Belgium, Russia, Poland, Ivory Coast) - maybe it takes a little while for communication to be more cohesive? I mean, obviously these guys are all world class, but this has to be the most international starting 11 in the epl, no? Anyway, it was a good game by Sunderland, gotta steal points on the road when you can.Liverpool? w.t.f. Dodgy second pk call kinda sucked, but still. So many poor passes, crosses, poor, poor effort. So Arsenal... I'm used to Wenger sides passing the ball around ad nauseum with their fans begging them to shoot. Today- with this group of players- you had guys putting their heads down and shooting from all angles instead of finding the final pass.
But Cazorla looks really good. And even though I criticized him, Gervinho looks like he has something to prove and showed great moves and confidence. Even Ramsey looked good.
And I noticed while watching something that keeps bugging me about USMNT players- Arsenal players higher up the pitch would receive the ball and quickly turn to go at goal or the defender. US players routinely take a touch just to control and then head the direction they're facing- backwards.
But Cazorla looks really good. And even though I criticized him, Gervinho looks like he has something to prove and showed great moves and confidence. Even Ramsey looked good.

Top drawer goal by Gera, but after that, Phil Dowd was West Brom's best player. Completely changed the outcome. Liverpool still can't score, and Downing still sucks. Borini didn't play well either.The first penalty was an easy call, the second one was iffy, but certainly not out of the blue. I don't know what Agger was thinking. I hate Atkinson. He has set this game up for someone to get a red card. The guy hands out cards like candy. It just ruins the game.

I was happy to see Gervhono in the 11 today. Like I posted in the fantasy thread, I expect a breakout year from him. I think him and Cazorla are going to link up well. Gervhono is great at getting into the box and putting the ball across. Loved to see him tracking back as well. I hope they keep the same starters with flipping Podolski/Giroud to around to see who shows up. I know he barely played, but I was not impressed with Giroud. He looked like he had cement in in shoes at times. Kind of clunky. Cazorla looked like he trying to will people onto his page out there. He looked great and the team will start gelling soon enough. Diaby is definitely a step down from Song. I know its been said in here already, but Song gone is going to really, really, hurt.

It would be so nice to have a striker. I don't understand Tottenham at times. They have need a permanent striker for years. What's the point of having such a great midfield if you can't put someone up front to score goals? So frustrating.
