I can't guess who the other player is in terms of unlocking opponents. Cletus, Dempsey and Donovan all had/have this skill but I would not have put any of them above Reyna. If it was not Obie, who am I forgetting?
You're not thinking LHucksy enough.
John Doyle?
lol.He and Dom Kinnear were on the older state team than me and somewhat local (they both played college ball at USF for my club coach), so I used to play against them and work with them at camps quite a bit. I had better skills and vision as a 16 yo than Doyle ever had (and less STDs than Kinnear). That said- as good as he was defending the ball on the ground, put a ball in the air and nobody on the planet was going to beat him (as I learned in the 90' WC). One camp we did, in the counselors vs campers game, somebody hit a cross into the box that went over my head and was still rising. As I came back to ground, I looked to track the ball and see if I could win a second ball- up goes Doyle just past me for a bike and hammers it into the upper right V. Marcelo Balboa (used to play against him in State ball and West regional camps) is arguably the best US bike specialist ever- but that one bike Doyle hit was the most amazing one I've ever seen- especially up close, and especially since it was WAY over my head for a header. the guy had hops deluxe.

An English guy I used to chat with once said of Doyle after watching him in a few games 'he has a knack for getting in the way'. Thought that summed it up pretty well. Joking about the vision thing...

Málaga CF (ESP): The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify in the next four seasons (i.e. 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17). In addition, Málaga will be excluded from a subsequent UEFA competition for which it would otherwise qualify (in the next four seasons) if it does not prove, by 31 March 2013, that it has no overdue payables towards football clubs or towards employees and/or social/tax authorities, in accordance with the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.Málaga has also been fined €300,000. The prize money withheld on 11 September 2012 (as a conservatory measure) will be released.

Watching the second half of a PSG/Brest game:

1) I always like stadiums where you can see apartment buildings on one end, for some reason.

2) Zlatan almost scorpion-kicked one in.

3) PSG ##### around WAAAAAAY too much in their own end. Almost just cost them a goal, and then they almost got scored on from the resulting cross. There's something to be said for just hoofing it at some point.

Cool!

FA CUP FINAL ON FOX. The FA Cup is about to make history with its first live appearance on U.S. broadcast television when Fox Sports airs a third-round match between Manchester United and West Ham United on Jan. 5 at 12 p.m. ET. It will also air the final live for the first time on May 11 at 12 p.m. ET. Over the last two seasons, Fox Sports has aired a combination of nine live and delayed matches from the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League, averaging 1.5 million viewers.

Málaga got banned from European continental competition (CL, Europa) for at least one year due their financial malfeasance. That really opens up the door for Atlético, Betis, or Levante to get a CL berth this year.

Atletico's still 12 points clear of the CL play-in spot, and 13 from the Europa spots. I think they're a pretty safe bet to make the CL next year.

ees a long season, hombre.

Messi scored today to finish the year with 91.

91 goals, but no significant trophies. Still has to be a shoe-in for his 4th straight Ballon d'Or, doesn't he?

ETA: 1 gol today. I thought I read 2.

MLS officially trademarked what looks to be the possible team name for NY2. http://s8.postimage.org/suqtykeat/Screen_shot_2012_12_21_at_4_27_28_PM.png
why not just go with "we gave up even trying to think of a name FC"Terrible.
This is what the name will reportedly be if the Man City group wins the expansion bid which seems likely, extending the "City" brand, as if MCFC owns the word "City".Now I'm not a total Cosmos honk, but if this NYCFC thing happens, MLS will have blown a golden opportunity at using one of the few globally recognized iconic American soccer brands, not once but twice. All due to the misguided notion that the Cosmos were the reason NASL failed, when it was really so much more than that (no grassroots structure, non-committed long-term ownership, rented stadiums, overreliance on expansion fees for funding, etc)

And this would be also after they have some evidence now that the older NASL names still remain popular today with the Timbers, Sounders, Earthquakes, and Whitecaps all doing well from a branding perspective. It will be a missed opportunity IMO especially if they do the near impossible and get the soccer stadium built in the city.

Even the Ultras have to be fed up with TSO at this point. I hope he never leaves.
Regarding his selection of Antonio Adan ahead of long-term first-choice goalkeeper Casillas, Mourinho said: "It's a technical decision. The coach analyses the situation, looks at the players at his disposal and chooses his team. At the moment, for me and my coaching staff, Adan is better than Iker."You can invent the stories that you want but it's purely a technical decision."

Lol @ Real. I think that Mourinho wants to get fired.

Pleased that Atleti is 7 points up on them right now. It's a shame that Barça can't drop some points and make this competitive.

It's a shame that Atletico had to drop points to Levante, Valencia, and Real, or it would be more competitive.

I saw the highlights of the Malaga goals. The placement on all three was pretty good, the back four looked like it was more to blame.

Essien also started in defense again, he's awful back there.

Agreed. Nonetheless it's not that enjoyable to watch any team steamroll an entire league like Barça has thus far.

They weren't even favored to win this year. Things are breaking their way. Few injuries, Messi's been unconscious.

BREAK UP LIVERPOOL
Just my opinion, but I think we can look back at December 22, 2012 as the day that the Brendan Rodgers Liverpool revolution started coming together. They were passing it around like Barca, and if people like Skrtel and Downing start scoring......... :scared: Looking forward to them finally landing Sturridge (three seasons after I added him in Football Manager).
