Bundesliga update for the final week of the season:
Bayern have clinched the title, and along with Dortmund and Leverkusen have clinched Champions League group stage.

Spot #4, Champions League playoff round, looks like Gladbach.  Considering the first tie-breaker is goal differential, they would have to lose and Mainz win and have am 11 goal swing. (that's the closest example.)

Spots 5-7 are all Europa League at various stages.   We know who, just not the order.

4 Gladbach 16-4-13 52 65-50 +15 host #10 Ingolstadt
5 Mainz 14-7-12 49 46-42 + 4 host #6 Berlin
6 Berlin 14-7-12 49 42-42 0 at #5 Mainz
7 Schalke 14-7-12 49 47-48 - 1 at #14 Hoffenheim

The next closest team is Wolfsburg with 42 points and out of contention.

Relegation:
Hannover is dropped and secured last place.  #17 is a straight drop and #16 is a Relegation Playoff spot.

Shaping up to be another interesting summer. Great quote here from Z:

Zlatan Ibrahimović ‏@Ibra_official  5h5 hours ago
My last game tomorrow at Parc des Princes. I came like a king, left like a legend
Several Twitter sources saying he is "90%" to go to the Galaxy this summer.  I'm not sure I understand how that's possible with three DPs already there.  Maybe they have TAM to buy down Gio or something.  Still seems unlikely.

Every twitter source points to a single rumor from an Italian journalist who said 90% Galaxy, 10% Man United.  He also said Zlat would state his intentions within "hours".

The Galaxy would have to trade someone (or have the rules changed to allowing a full 4th dp, LA has been behind every major rule change to date in MLS so this is not an outrageous thought).

Gio can not be realistically be bought down.  He makes $5.75M.  And LA already blew their entire original TAM budget on Omar last year.  Keane makes $4.5 so he would be "easier" to buy down but even then..........

I guess they could try and buy out Gerrard and get him to retire (assuming there is a rule for such a thing).

I don't put much stock in the original rumor, it just seemed like a way for the guy to get noticed.

Maybe the rumor got mixed up and instead of the Galaxy, he would sign for LAFC and then play on loan some where.

My understanding is the rumor came from Pirlo's biographer.  So not just some no-name looking to get noticed.  Obviously, grain of salt, but I will never stop devoutly wishing for some Zlatan.  Even if it would make it even harder to watch DC United trot out Saborio.

So if it's coming from Pirlo's biographer, that means he's friendly with Pirlo which means he's headed to play with Pirlo at NYCFC once Lamps retires to a tv role.  :confetti:

Feel free to post on Twitter.

Here are the actual two tweets from the Sky Sports reporter in Italy which kicked off the rumor mill.  If you notice in the tweets, he never says the Galaxy, he just says LA.  I don't know if he cleared this up later.

LA Galaxy also has the butcher De Jong whose contract will convert to a DP status next season if he meets certain goals this year.

Lots of speculation out there.

the latest I saw was the Robbie Keane is considering retirement to move into coaching (he has been prepping his coaching license for a few years now).

If Keane does retire after this season, LA could sign Zlat and then loan Zlat until winter some where.  Obviously they would prefer to loan Gerrard but no one is goung to likely want him.

It is announced in the press conference that John Terry has been offered a one-year contract extension. John is considering the offer.  #CFC

FWIW, Carlyle and McIntyre are reporting that multiple sources confirm that Zlatan is in discussions with MLS.  Obviously, there are still things that could torpedo it, but the kernel of the rumor seems to be legit.

"What Gyasi Zardes can do with a football, I can do with a grape."

"Beyond the Pitch" was talking about it and said there was a report from a legit person a year ago that Zlatan would be headed to LA this summer.  He has business in LA and wants to be in the movie business so LA appeals to him tremendously.  They felt it would be a great fit for Zlatan to the Galaxy and they may be eyeing the end of Keane as well.

I may actually go to a Galaxy game with Zlatan in the side. 30 mins is not to far to go see Zlatan.  Way to far to go see a LD led team  :boxing:

The thing is, I like John Terry.  I think the Ferdinand incident was at least somewhat understandable.  And he has been a great player.  But he's so much fun to make fun of.  Normally I forgo the racism stuff and jump right on the Captain and Leader fetishism.  Because it's hilarious to me that this guy keeps a collection of all his captain's armbands.  That's the most John Terry thing ever.

didnt he use them to tie up Bridge's wife?

I actually did about 20 minutes of legal research on superinjunctions for my then firm when the Ryan Giggs scandal came out.  It was kind of funny because the London partner was like "this is all very hush-hush, I can't even tell you who it is."  And I said, "Uh, it's Giggsy.  It's all over Twitter."

Is it wrong that I read that as "super-erections"?

This sounds like a 2026 joint WC with Mexico is a fait accompli:

John Motta, a board member of the United States Soccer Federation, said: "We have spoken to our Mexican counterparts and are very open to the idea of a joint bid.

"It could be a positive move for the game in both countries and it's also a very exciting proposition for FIFA. We will now go away and formulate a timetable for further discussions.

"But whatever happens, we will bid for the 2026 World Cup -- either jointly or we will go it alone."

Most Europe-based sources I'm talking to think Ibrahimovic will go to Man United (but only if Van Gaal, whom he doesn't like, leaves)

What happened to Stuttgart?  They were playing so well when they changed coaches mid season(?), surprised to see that they've dropped all the way back to 17th.  So if Werder Bremen beat Frankfurt by 1 goal, pts & GD will be same, & they'd have this head-to-head victory... Who won 1st match?                   Forza Bremen!

More Questions:

-FA Cup: So any professional team in UK can enter this and they get randomly seeded?  It would be like baseball holding an open tournament for any team that wanted to enter from MLB, MiLB, Atlantic League, Northern League, Cape Cod League, and Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars?  And then determine matchups out of a hat to set up the bracket?

-Are there 15 leagues that are part of the champions league: http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/leaguesandcups/

-I'm sure there would be lively debate, but this list approximately the top players in the world: http://thebiglead.com/2015/08/27/top-10-soccer-players-in-the-world-start-of-the-2015-16-season-edition/

-How did Manchester City get the money to sign a couple of those guys and ascend in the standings?  I had always thought that they were kind of down and out.  Like the Mets to the Yankees, but worse.

-I see that la Liga is super top-heavy in the standings, with Barcelona and Real Madrid (unsurprisingly), plus Athletico Madrid.  It seems like the EPL, for instance, is going through some changes in competitive balance (? I don't know, just my random snapshot and extremely limited historical knowledge).  Are the other leagues more top-heavy still (assuming that has been the norm in soccer historically) and/or some being more competitive lately?

-Also interested in what Tony Khan and his people might be able to do with Fulham and analytics or if the view is that it is nonsense.
