Scotland MF Ryan Fraiser agrees to join Newcastle subject to a medical tomorrow. It's a free Transfer.

Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and Newcastle, both teams are said to have submitted a bid of around £20m for the player.

Norwich city have accepted a £13.5m bid for Jamal Lewis from Newcastle. Newcastle are in discussion to sign Sassuolo left back Rogerio

So what exactly is the reason Seattle has a turf field? I know there are other MLS turf surfaces, some of which are understandable. But Seattle?

Seattle shares the stadium with the Seahawks.  Due in part to the excessive rain in Seattle, the Seahawks, who are the main tenants, prefer turf.

All things considered not a terrible window by Newcastle standards, especially with the takeover drama. Wilson has agreed, just needs to pass the physical tomorrow, as well.

Wow. Some bone-headedness right there, if you catch my drift.

Youth is wasted on morons.

Wilson up front with ASM, Miggy, Fraser behind has potential. Fraser might take a bit to get fit since he hasn't played since pre-shutdown. I'm a little worried about his attitude since he basically quit on Bournmouth, but NU didn't have to swap Ritchie for Wilson - if Fraser slacks, Ritchie will throw him down an elevator shaft.

Hopefully Joelinton can find himself now that he's not just on an island. Interesting to see what formation they go with.

Yeah, not the time do be doing this in a bubble.  Sounds like one of them has a girlfriend and a kid so this can't be good news to get out.

Yeah, pretty clear that Foden is no brain surgeon.    I honestly have no idea why every big time pro athlete doesn't make a sperm bank deposit and get a vasectomy as soon as they realize they're likely to make it.  Save it for when you WANT to have a kid and go nuts shooting blanks until you're ready to settle down.

cashing in on this makes sense.  Sounds like it came in under what Miggy was sold for but more than what Davies was sold for.

Atlanta United today announced the transfer of midfielder Gonzalo “Pity” Martínez to Al-Nassr FC of the Saudi Pro League for an undisclosed transfer fee. The transaction opens both a Designated Player spot and an international spot on the club’s 2020 roster.  Atlanta United now has the two highest initial outgoing transfer fees in MLS history.

Fraser I think used poor word choice. He admitted to not playing hard do to transfer rumors first 4 months of this year. I think what he meant to say and should've was there was distractions that didn't allow me to be myself with the club or something similar. He was hurt IMHO about being transfer listed by a club he's given his all for. Don't think he'll be an issue.

Joelinton is a natural Winger or he can slide into the Attacking MF role now. Hopefully Bruce doesn't bungle the squad formation.

Funny thing about Fraser is I started a Newcastle Career mode in FIFA a month ago and he was one of my first signings as he was fairly cheap. Until I played with them in Career mode I didn't realize the lack of strikers and goalscoring we really had.

Essentially this and the turf field they have was made and invented by a diehard Seahawks fan who is a season Ticket holder. My cousin works for an office company in Seattle that has a satellite campus in San Fran (Was living there for a bit) ended up with Seahawks tickets (Still an Eagles fan) and the fan who made this turf is in his section. Sea got a good deal on it given the guy they got it from is a huge fan. Or from the stories that have been told is one of the reasons for it. Rain is the other but given its also a shared Stadium this helps make sure the field isn't a disaster given that the field is used almost every month of the year for sports besides February and maybe early March. So the wear and tear also isn't there.

Zaniolo left the pitch holding his left knee. He just returned to action a couple months ago after tearing his ACL in his right knee. It buckled before contact with the Netherlands player. He walked off under his own power. Italia Physio says seems like a sprain but won't know till tomorrows scans

Last I read Holding might stay at Arsenal. I know they kept him a while back when Newcastle were supposed to sign him but Arsenal got hit with injuries.

Wonder how much FFP they've went against in doing so. Seems UEFA/FIFA only go after certain clubs for FFA rules.
I think people tend to forget they sold Hazard and Morata - so they had built up quite a bit of cash just waiting to be spent.

Plus, even when FPP is working correctly, its a 3-year deal, so not making any transactions last year help balance the books in terms of "losses" per year.
UEFA suspended the break-even calc for 2020 due to COVID. The 2020/21 reporting period will only cover 17/18 and 18/19.  The 21/22 analysis period will cover 4 years (years ending 18, 19, 20 and 21).  So its not completely ignored, but there is some leeway in terms of spreading losses.  Also, I think some people forget that player acquisition costs are amortized over the length of a player contract, whereas revenues (profit) are booked when received.  FFP is really not a concern for CFC for 20/21, especially if they sell a few more players as expected.

Would love to see Chelsea vs. ManU with both wearing their third kits.

"Why is Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace the game of the week on NBC?"
Newcastle traditionally has opened up the EPL season but against bigger clubs like the top 6. I'm not gonna complain though.

Mike Ashley announces that he will never find a bidder willing to pay him as much as Saudi Arabia would, and he is mad:

Newcastle United can confirm that the Premier League has rejected a takeover bid made by PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) based on its Owners and Directors test.

This conclusion has been reached despite the club providing the Premier League with overwhelming evidence and legal opinions that PIF is independent and autonomous of the Saudi Arabian government.

The club and its owners do not accept that Premier League chief executive Richard Masters and the Premier League have acted appropriately in relation to this matter and will be considering all relevant options available to them.

Mike Ashley understands fans’ frustrations and would like to reassure them that he has been fully committed to ensuring this takeover process reached completion as he felt it was in the best interests of the club. Mike continues to be fully supportive to Steve Bruce, the players and all the staff and wishes them well for the upcoming season.

Bonaventura is currently having his Fiorentina medical where he'll sign as a free transfer until 2022 on a €1.8. salary

Zaniolo has confirmed that he suffered his second ACL tear in 8 months, first in his right knee, now in his left.

United really starting to aggravate me.  They are still living in a dream world that Dortmund are going to lower their valuation on Sancho so they can buy him.  They're not, so if you're not going to meet them near their level move on.  IMO getting Sancho is nice, but not really filling some of their most desperate needs.  They have enough in the attack and have they been watching the European Cup of Nations games ffs.

They should be getting Reguilon straight away.  They are bickering evidently over a buy back clause with Madrid, but this guy was great last year at Sevilla and would fit a very pressing need in that Brandon Williams would never see first team minutes again.  They also need to finish selling Smalling, and get another CB.  They are fine on the attack without Sancho and maybe, just maybe Daniel James will turn the corner and be a vialble attacking alternative off the bench.  Who am I kidding, he sucks, but Greenwood, Rash, Martial ahead of the likes of Fernandes and Pogba is good.  Plus plenty of talent in the pipeline.  Don't overpay for Sancho.  Oh, and if Real Madrid want to #### around, why not offer them DeGea at a good price.  Ugh.

I agree with the bolded but have issues with the rest.  United need to get these deals done, back the manager and make a run at multiple trophies.

The end of the season and Europa showed there is no game changer on the bench.  A 4th attacking option gives you the ability to rest someone, cover an injury or sub if a starter is having a bad game.  Sancho (or another top class young winger) is needed without a doubt.

James can grow and his decline was tied to Pogba going out and not having anyone to play him in to his strengths.  He is a squad player for sure and can give some spark when needed.  Give the kid some time.  He wasn't supposed to be thrown in and he has done well for Wales.

Reguilon would be a great addition.  Would push Shaw for time and make them both stronger. Would also compliment Rashford on that left side nicely.  Get the deal done.
Then you can move Williams over to support AWB on the right where he is a more natural fit.  Williams showed he can play and has the fire to be on the field.  I don't get your hatred of BW.

The defense was the 3rd best in the EPL and was a couple De Gea howlers from being 2nd or first best.  I would like to get a pacey left footed CB in to partner with McGuire but its not dire.  Hopefully Bailly or Tuanzebee can get and stay healthy as well.  This one can wait for the right person/price.

Sell Smalling, Jones, Pereira, Lingard, Rojo.  They are not needed and at this point bringing through more academy players for the limited time they might see is a better option.

Bringing in VDB to rotate with Bruno and Pogba was a necessary first step.  Need a RW, Holding MF (Fred has improved, Matic is older and limited), CB, LB.

But to your main point, yes, get the  :censored:  deals done already.

That's a lot of business for one window, and a lot of time to bed in, with the season starting in 2 days (9 for United I guess).

Holy hell that is a lot to ask for in such a tiny market and one that is coming off an ugly scandal.

Remember when they could not give MLS teams away for free in the mid 2000's?

===========================

Early-stage talks around the sale of Utah Soccer Holdings are beginning around $500 million, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Utah Soccer includes Real Salt Lake (MLS), Real Monarchs (USL), Utah Royals FC (NWSL) and Rio Tinto Stadium, among other soccer-related entities.

Both finance and soccer sources have pegged the benchmark sale price attached specifically to RSL around $325 million, the expansion fee that billionaire David Tepper paid for Charlotte FC last year. The league’s most recent control transaction was in September 2019, when Joe Mansueto acquired 51% of Chicago Fire FC at a $400 million valuation (including his initial 49% acquisition the prior year, Mansueto paid a total $322 million for the team).

Which adds to the frustration of Sancho taking too long to get done.  If reports are to be believed, Ole wants Sancho & Sancho wants to move to United.  Deal should have been done the day after United qualified for CL.

With United not starting until next weekend, the deals need to get done this week so they can get in and get going.
