Oh, well in that case you can go back to wondering who ManU is not going to buy!

Tottenham won the game.  And tomorrow Bale is playing golf in London w/ Levy (not kidding).
According to all reports they are linked with and not buying everyone.

Does anyone play women's FIFA?  Because the '21 rankings are out, and guess who is the top-rated player in the world?
She didn't deserve top player honors at the WWC and she has barely played since.  How is she the top player?  Oh marketing since she has become more well know for her outspoken attitude.

Meh.

Give me Sam Kerr
:goodposting:

SMH.  EA.  That's almost as bad as giving Kaepernick an 81 in the new Madden.
:goodposting:

Rapino had zero goals and zero assists in 6 appearances for her club in 2019, hasn't played in 2020.

Kerr joined Chelsea mid-season and won the FA Super League, Women's League Cup and Community Shield.

Ada had 14 goals for OL and won the league, also had a hat trick in the Champions League final.

Tough call.
Yes, but which one of them swore at the press conferences following the Women's World Cup?  That's edgy.  Clearly that woman is gonna drive sales.

:confused:  She hasn't played a game since January

I agree she's more than likely the best player, but she blew out her knee.

Ms. Lavelle can also belong on the short list, imho.  And she can call me anytime

These are the new FIFA 21 video game rantings, based on last season.  I don't pretend to follow it though, have never seen a single women's club game, so just spouting off based on their wikipedia pages.  I thought Lavelle was one of the best on the US team in France WC.

Andy mentioned this when it first came up...

Fifa has adjusted rules governing football players switching international associations after approving amendments to the Regulations Governing the Application of the Statutes at the organisation's 70th Congress on Friday.

Earlier this year, Fifa brought up proposals to amend some of its existing statues in light of the coronavirus pandemic, and switching nationalities was among the key topics raised.

Prior to the adjusted rules, a player could only switch nationalities so long they had only played in friendlies and not a single minute of any competitive fixture, which includes qualifiers and international tournaments.

Those rules have now been relaxed, allowing a player to change nationality as long as they have only featured in three international fixtures of which qualifiers are among them, but not tournaments like the World Cup, must have been less than 21 years of age at the time of playing, and can only switch after three years of no international activity.

Article continues below

The new rules are now applicable if the player:

was fielded in a match in official competition at “A” international level in any kind of football for his current association;
at the time of being fielded for his first match in an official competition (at any level) in any kind of football for his current association, he held the nationality of the association which he wishes to represent;
at the time of being fielded for his last match in an official competition in any kind of football for his current association, he had not turned 21 years old;
was fielded in no more than three matches at “A” international level in any kind of football for his current association, whether in an official competition or non-official competition;
at least three years have passed since being fielded for his last match at “A” international level in any kind of football for his current association, whether in an official competition or non-official competition; and
has never participated in any kind of football at “A” international level in the final tournament of the FIFA World Cup or a final tournament of a confederation competition.
Sevilla forward Munir El Haddadi was one of the prominent figures who were frustrated by the previous rule.

He was born in Spain to a Moroccan father and had represented La Roja once in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Northern Macedonia (previously FYR Macedonia) on September 8, 2014.

The following year, the former Barcelona player contacted Fifa about his wish to change allegiance to Morocco, however, he was denied that privilege.

Still not satisfied, El Haddadi challenged Fifa’s ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sports in April 2018, but it was also quashed at the apex court.

El Haddadi will now be eligible under these new requirements as he was 19 at the time when he represented Spain and has not played in any other game for the 2010 World Champions since then

Spurs getting cheeky.

Changed profile on Twitter (i.e. not even a tweet):

Bale is the new #9 for Spurs.

All of a sudden LFC land Thiago and Jota? Nice bit of understated work there- quality players, although the need for Jota seems more about depth or coverage in case Mane wants out.

And Tsimikas is also important. With matches every 3 days fresh legs are a top priority.

Edwards is the signing of a decade though. I still shudder watching Ian Ayre on his motor cycle.

ETA: Need to focus on some outgoing, and some loans next.

Spurs are scheduled to play Leyton Orient tomorrow in the League Cup - but Leyton Orient confirmed today:

"We have received formal confirmation that a number of our first-team squad have tested positive for COVID-19."

Game is now in doubt, but the bigger concern is potential spread within teams.  I am sure the bigger teams have taken more precautions than the smaller teams - but just a reminder how quickly it can spread if anyone lets their guard down.

(Interesting side note about Leyton Orient - Harry Kane played there on loan, and he is now one of their Shirt sponsors for this season.)

So did you guys subscribe to Peacock to watch EPL games?  Are there other options?

Our current TV situation is still a little in flux.  I recently cancelled DirecTV and I'm currently on YouTubeTV.  I'm likely staying there but open to other options.

At this point, virtually all the TV we watch is on Netflix/Prime.  The only thing I need/want live TV for is sports and even that is limited.  Fox Sports Midwest to watch Cards baseball/Blues Hockey and then the ability to watch soccer with primary focus of EPL and Champions League.  I always had NBC Sports and FS1 for that.

What is the best option at this point for that?

I'm still getting it for free.  :shrug:

I just signed up via the Google App to get 1 month free of the premium.  So I'll give it a shot (I just hadn't looked into it yet with lots of other stuff going on).

How has it been?  Is it showing all the games?  Most of them?  And what's the deal with UCL this year?

Peacock tv is working fine for me so far.  I think I'm still on the free trial, but will pay the $5/mo when that runs out.  I stream it via Amazon fire stick at home, and through a browser at my office.  Have also watched some through the app on my ipad.

Same here.

Although after that display by United on Saturday I may cancel and not watch again.   :censored:

I will probably pay for it once the trial runs out.  It streamed very well on my smart tv on Saturday.  For $5/month it's worth it to watch the EPL.

I'm curious, how many matches/week is it showing?  Do you get to choose between different matches that are on at the same time?

Right now most seem to be on it.  Plus it looked like you could watch replays of the games too.

Doesn't look like you can pause live games though.

This year - through the end of September at least, the PL is staggering the games so its essentially just one on at a time.  That is being done by the league to compensate for no fans - more tv in england

You can't pause live games, but if you set it to record a game, you can essentially do the same (pause, re-wind, jump ahead to live, etc.) from the recording.

Just for a totally hypothetical example, with no basis in reality -- if you're late to watch a game due to Sunday morning commitments, but notice there was a red card in the 45th minute, you potentially could skip ahead, watch the red card, see that the score is now 0-2 and decide to watch the Packer game instead.
