Put me down for Swansea and the Union (ugh). Still undecided on League Championship, but Norwich is the frontrunner.
Dude... Leeds.
Leeds is such a trainwreck, how can you not pick them? I think they are my new favorite team!

The latest derailment revolves around them not being allowed to play their top scorer for the rest of the season since he is only one goal away from a contract bonus. The team also sacked the assistant manager without telling the manager why... the sacking letter was also apparently riddled with grammatical errors. some details here: link

I can't look away... I love it.

Is another soccer attendance record ahead for Jacksonville? The Jacksonville Armada is setting its course to smash down another historic mark.

The first-year North American Soccer League club rolled out its Set the Record campaign Tuesday, four days ahead of Saturday’s first-ever regular season match against FC Edmonton at EverBank Field.

The club will hold a pep rally at The Jacksonville Landing, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and will present the Can-Doo music and craft beer festival at Metropolitan Park beginning Saturday at noon.

“We’ve worked hard to get to this day,” Armada owner Mark Frisch said. “It’s just going to be very fulfilling to see it all come together.”

Team president Steve Livingstone said 12,000 tickets have been sold. The team’s target is the NASL’s single-game attendance record of 14,593, set last July in Ottawa.

Jacksonville has previously set regional attendance records for the United States men’s (52,033 against Nigeria in June 2014) and women’s (18,656 against Scotland in February 2013) national teams, and the Armada set an NASL preseason record with 13,934 against Philadelphia Feb. 7.

The match will be the last scheduled at EverBank Field before the Armada enters the remainder of its schedule at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Since the Baseball Grounds has an official soccer capacity of 8,566, Saturday is likely the team’s only chance to surpass the mark in 2015.
Local NASL club looking for attendance record. Although their plans to share the baseball park with the AA Suns has the potential to be terrible for both teams.

Allow me to whine. My four day weekend will be spent on a six hour drive through a time portal, emerging to spend at least two days in 1965, also known as the small West Virginia town where my elderly parents live. I will miss

1. the Championship tripleheader today

2. Everton-Southampton tomorrow (no internet)

3. the inevitable stabbings at Sunderland-Newcastle Sunday

4. all the other European league matches during the weekend

:firstworldproblems:
does not compute...

There have been rumors for the last few months that Red Bull was interested in Leeds. Today it was confirmed by the (suspended) owner that there is, in fact, an offer on the table. Could you imagine a RedBull United?

I live Leeds.

P.S. for anyone unaware of the ownership train wreck, that article summarizes it a bit.

This is fun.

Despite all the pretty goals, MOTM is Coquelin, such a beast in the middle.

I'll take him over Giroud, Cazorla, Alexis, or anyone else as the most important player of this awesome start to 2015.

Hopefully the backline doesn't play too high this half, they got burned a couple of times by Sterling and Markovic, and were lucky not to concede.

I got up at 4:30 for this ####? [/Gator]
Last year away at Liverpool, I think I tweeted that I'd just go back to bed as it wasn't even 5:00 a.m. yet (and Arsenal was already down 3-0). Miserable waking up early to watch that.

I'm just bumfuzzled by the MLS scheduling. The Fire played during the international break. But they don't play next week. :loco:

I give LvG a lot of credit. He has the side playing really well. It could all blow up in the next 7 games but I think they'll hang on for a top-4 spot. They have the toughest run in of the teams battling for CL but they may be playing as well as anybody.

He's made Ashley Young look competent which should earn him manager of the year.

16 year old BL junior in town visiting from Suburbia (West Bloomfield.) The #1 fan of the Sounders has latched onto the uncrowded Newcastle bandwagon. Although there are plenty ManU, MC, Chelsea and 'pool bars around NYC, nothing for the Toon army. Off to Brooklyn where I know several PL brunch spots along Court & Smith Streets.

Kid's got character/a burgeoning masochistic streak.

I was reading up on Magpies history on the train ride over. The apple def didn't fall far from the tree.

Flop or any NYC guys - any suggestions on where to find a NYC FC kit for the kiddo? I suppose the Adidas store would be a place to start. He also wants a Newcastle jersey - Puma? Any suggestions on Manhattan/Brooklyn stores that carry a lot of PL gear?
