Don't let anyone try to diminish it.
My thoughts when I read that exactly.
I don't think that Mayweather's accomplishments should be diminished either (other than pointing out that he's an awful human being, but that has little to do with whether he's a great boxer.)

Chelsea scores plenty of goals, but in big games, Jose sets up conservatively. Particularly when they've already banked the points early in the season. That's exactly what he should do, and as with Mayweather fights, I'm genuinely perplexed when some fans act as if they'd expect anything different.

I knew what you meant, and agree that at that level who cares what anyone thinks about the style? The rules are the same for everyone so shut up and beat it.

OTOH maybe 15% of me can get behind the "boring and bad for the sport" arguments too. (Moreso for FM than JM.)

Unlimited funds and as boring as possible? Yes, bad for the sport.

Thanks Captain Obvious

Is anybody in here begrudging Chelsea their deserved title? They were a machine through the year- putting up goals when they had healthy forwards, and of course locking down the opposition through Jose's tactics and a lot of great defenders and defending MFs.

I thought Jose's first sub today exemplified what I don't like- nothing unique here- with Willian going out for Mikel? Or the other giant defending MF. Willian was the best player on the field for the 20 minutes prior to coming out, and was helping Chelsea put pressure on the other goal as well helping keep a nice, high attacking line through that pressure. He comes out, and all of Chelsea's forward momentum slams to a halt. Ok- you're up 1-0 and you want to wrap up the season... but IMO, they were doing a better job keeping Leicester from being dangerous by being dangerous themselves through Willian. kinda typical Jose shennanigans- and it works more often than not, but as a neutral, I'd still rather see Arsenal, City or Livepool throw guys forward wth sometimes disastrous results than that  my 2c.

I think he's been making these defensive subs the last month just to #### with all of us. I really do. The league was sewn up a long time ago.

They had a few injuries, mostly Costa being out quite a bit, and no other club was really pressing Chelsea to take them out of their comfort zone. I don't know why Remy didn't play today, but with Costa, Oscar out and Ramires a late scratch, there weren't a ton of options. Everyone loves Drogba so much its hard speak ill of him in any way, but the fact is he is really far past it. I personally enjoyed watching the Chelsea back line + Matic and Zouma totally frustrate one team after another. The past four weeks have been a lot of fun. Terry played every single minute of every game in the league this season and almost never put a foot wrong. Azpilicueta was near-perfect as well. That's been pretty fun to watch.

Yeah, I'm glad I got to see Terry live one time. His positioning and awareness is second to none. Something you don't fully appreciate on TV. Didn't put a foot wrong in the QPR game.

I think that sub was a giant middle finger to the press and fans who have been second guessing his tactics. He normally doesnt bring on Mikel so early but he was making a statement with the move. That he followed that sub with Zouma and Luis was more of the same.

he seems like a giant putz- but yeah, been amazing this season. Hell- Cahill has been pretty amazing... just one of those guys on a back line would make any team happy. add in the rest of them plus Matic/Ramirez/etc, etc.... just lethal.

we all knew the MF was solid and deep- I just didn't count on the defense to play so well individually. reminds me of Inter's run under Jose- so credit to TSO.

Did the same vs Arsenal while Arsenal was putting in forwards while a loss would have really hurt Arsenal's shot at the 2nd place trophy. Wouldn't have meant #### to Chelsea. I straight up laughed at the subs. He's a comedic genius.

Chelsea were pressing high the first half and had a few good chances but were forced to bring on Drogba for Oscar after the collision and concussion, which eliminates that plan. It seemed to me Arsene was playing for a draw at home, frequently with all 10 parked behind the ball until he finally brought on Wellbeck for Coquellin with about 15 to play. I think the first and only decent look Arsenal had all game came very late, It's easy to understand why the home crowd was frustrated that day. It's been over two years since Arsenal scored a goal against Chelsea in any competition, and that was in a 2-1 loss back in January 2013.

So, Ipswich Town vs. Norwich City. Anyone else stoked for this?

This will be tough. The bonus is it is a local derby and most folks should be able to watch it on TV(haven't looked yet).

And congrats to any Bournemouth fans out there. Great story.

Ipswich in the Prem will change my vacation plans and everything related. Ipswich at Anfield if I can somehow get tickets is the dream.

I'm looking for a favor and hope someone can help me out. The ICC pre-sale tickets go on sale today, does anyone have the pre-sale code for the Chelsea-PSG game in Charlotte? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Slapdash, another reason this board rocks. Tickets purchased, 100 level at the 18. About makes me sick with how much they cost but my Son is going to go out of his mind.

Leo Messi this season:

50 Games - 50 Goals, 26 Assists

I've said it before, but worth repeating: we've been spoiled these last years with getting 2 of the GOATs playing in front of us.

Those of you newer to the sport should relish this. there will always be good/great players out there- guys like Ibra, Hazard, Xavi, etc... but it really could be a lifetime before we see one, let alone two, as good as these guys.

not only are they GOATS, they are in the perfect situation to exploit their talents.

They are playing on teams 3 times better than most other teams in their league

They are playing in a high scoring league

Those two items help lead to the video game like stats they have which only enhances their GOAT status.

Exactly what I tell my boys when they bring up who's better..or talk with friends about who likes who. Enjoy it, you never know when the one will come around, let alone two at the same time

NYC and Orlando have played 17 games combined so far with a combined record (W-T-L) of 3-5-9

At the beginning of the season I thought NY was going to struggle with their roster makeup but did not expect this from Orlando.

Orlando looks fairly good at the back and in the midfield but are completely a mess up front. If they can stabilize a bit and then find a real striker this summer, they could make a late run at the playoffs.

NYC obviously has Lampard coming over fairly soon, but I am unsure that is enough to improve them. After the MetroStars buried themselves locally with a horrendous first couple of years, it would suck for the league if NYC did the same thing.

T minus 13 minutes until my presale code for Barca/ManU at Levi Stadium is accessible
Much like United's last 3 games this was a debacle too. No tickets avail until around 4. Prices from $130 to $490 per ticket (and now there are tickets for $1,490 each!) Spending $150 per ticket to sit at the top corner just doesnt seem worth it (Esp since I would have to fly or drive 6 hours to go).....

Guess I will see what the regular sale brings on Thursday.

Yep, I actually was able to get in to ticketmaster at 2 but there was no way in hell I was paying those prices for unconfirmed rosters. The only way to secure a somewhat cheap ticket was to buy a 2 pack to the Quakes vs. Orlando game and I'd rather not see them play at levi.

Dear god.

Those ticket prices are insane to watch a friendly where neither team cares and you will likely see more reserves than starters.

But if people are willing to pay, I can see why they charge so high.
