Floppo is right. One day I hope that I can have a team to support in MLS.

what are the sports teams have played in NJ that took the NY name?

Jets, Giants, Cosmos, Red Bulls. Any others?

The old Metrostars initially used some wierd NY/NJ type name I think. Then they dropped the city's names entirely if memory serves.

Hey Floppo, want to feel old? At the end of this season, the Red Bulls will have played 10 seasons, which is the exact same as the Metrostars.

Hoping for another good one today - the Slapdash/Mjolnirs family feud.
High hopes, low expectations.

Ribery - out

Robben - out

Alaba - out

Badstuber - out

Rode - out

Lewandowski - out, or maybe playing with a mask

Also, I won't get to watch it until around 9 or 10pm.

I love the Neuer can use his off foot, slip badly, and his outlet still finds its target. I wonder how long it would take him to train to become a pro as a field player.........

OMG... he is just a joy to watch. Luckily every touch will be recorded and rewatched forever, but when he retires it will be a sad day.

to be fair to the Cosmos- they started off within the City and were forced to move to the Meadowlands.

at least the nets and devils kept the right name (which makes particular sense for the devils).

10 seasons already? are you sure? woof.

I guess Messi played well today. Joey Barton was creaming his jeans on twitter. Went so far as to say:

I'm closer in ability to Neymar than Neymar is to Messi. #fact

Gotta love Joey

Thanks Pep for playing beautiful proper football to entertain the neutrals. That was fun.
There was a point, about 70 or so minutes in when I was thinking that maybe Pep was crazy like a fox. That Barca's attacking trio had come out so hot when they realized they were being man marked that they had all lost their legs half way through the second half. But then Bayern seemed to wilt themselves and I thought Pep might be an idiot again. I'm fickle that way.

If Lewandovski gets on that Mueller cross at about 20 min, maybe Pep is a genius tonight.

If Barca buries their 2 1v1's and countless other chances, the game ends 8-1

Seriously though, as hot as Barca's attack is, they REALLY screw the pooch over and over on countless chances that they really should be burying.

I know. sounds silly... they're scoring and scoring but if you watch today and especially v City, they could easily have put in 8+ goals without hesitation, but their finishing was putrid.

If they come up to a team that really clogs the mid and plays really solid DEF, those blown chances will really come back to haunt them. Otherwise, they just look unstoppable

That game was amazing. Best I've seen in ages. Had everything: tactical chess match, fast paced, individual and team brilliance, a little bit of chippiness and bite, incredible saves and an unbelievable goal.

Could've ended at 0-0 and I would've been completely content. There was a period there where BM looked like they had something figured out and were controlling things. Then it got just the slightest scrappy and *bam* messi. And then, hfs... Poor boating. Never really seen Krakitic? before.... Had a great game. Not quite Xavi level, but more hustle and bite on D and some fantastic ball generalship and passing.

For those that know what this is/care.. Pretty interesting stuff and gonna cause some chaos in a year or so.

Updated UEFA ranking for 2014/15 season (5/5/2015):

1- Italy 18.5

2- Spain 18.357

3- Germany 15.571

4- England 13.571

5- France 10.916

Yep. That was the easiest chance all day and he flubbed it. As it stands, Bayern didn't put one on target.

Ivan Rakitic. Former Sevilla captain and has 70 caps for Croatia.

He's been an amazing buy. Has slid in to the midfield with ease. Would have been great to have kept Cesc to pair with him as an Iniesta/Xavi fade out. Inuits has been fantastic too, so there is time to fill that role. Hopefully.

Great thing about him is the versatility in the midfield; he has played a variety of roles for Sevilla and Croatia. Combine that with his workrate and you just see him popping up all over.

Still my favorite signing off the offseason because of how much better Danny plays with a bigger, more defensive guy at RCM. He lacks Xavi's ability to control a game, but he is a damn fine passer.

And it has been baffling that he has had so much time on the bench the last month. I was afraid he got in the dog house.

Great fun for 77 minutes. Neuer pulled Bayern out of the fire several times, but he couldn't do it every time. Boateng's fall was awful, just awful.

The one on one back line for the first 15 minutes was just crazy. As often as Bayern's back line gets burned against top notch teams, to get out of that unscathed was simply amazing.

Looks like Pep will have to pull out the 4-0 strategy for the home leg. Not making any excuses, but I would love to have seen that match with both sides 100% :excited:
