I think this is the 4th match day where the team above Arsenal lost and they had an opportunity to take first and went ahead and #### the bed. Classic Arsenal.

 
Gratifying as that last match was, Arsenal looked pretty disinterested right from the opening whistle. Would anyone at all be surprised if Saints go up to West Ham in a couple of days and lose by four goals?

 
I'm watching the replaying of Bournemouth/Crystal Palace...is there a big rivalry with these two? This game seems to be at a different energy level than the other games. The crowd at Bournemouth seems awesome.

Memphis' pure awfulness has really been astounding to me. I get that he's young and the Dutch League's horrendous defenses were a big part of why he put up big stats, but he always looked really solid playing for the Dutch team. Kid looks absolutely lost out there.

One thing I think Man U underestimated in their team building this year was the need for a poacher. Every offensive player they added was of the shiny, skilled variety but they are lacking a good old fashioned "I don't care how I look" goal scorer.

This is of course magnified by the fact that Hernandez simply won't stop scoring in Germany where he has a fantastic 19 goals in 22 appearances this year.

Yeah, can't help but notice this every time a golden chance falls to the foot of Fellaini or Jesse Lingaard (who I still can't figure out what he actually does that makes him a Man U player)

A poacher would be nice addition. I love Chicharito but I think he is where he needs to be to excel. He gets space and time and is using it in Germany. Dont think he gets that much in the EPL. However, with the balls that constantly fall to Fellaini's feet and he misses, Chich could be leading the EPL in goals. I don't understand the fascination with the big tree in the lineup. Get him and Rooney out of there....

I would much prefer Lingaard to Fellaini.

Lots of interesting storylines for what will likely be a boring game at OT today. We'll see. I expect LvG to get a lifeline today with a narrow win. None of Chelsea's three center forwards is in the team today - Costa suspended, Remy and Falcao both injured.

 
Spurs match was brutal to watch. A bit of thuggery.

Even so - Lloris with a big save - literally an inch from a goal, just one minute before Son's game-winner.

 
ref looking to lose control of United Chelsea and will end up giving a cheap red to someone with his inconsistent bookings and calls.

United looks better in movement and has had a couple chances (Hit crossbar and post). No goals yet.

 
Ozil is a wizard, should have had at least a couple more assists today if not for Walcott flubbing his chances and Gabriel hitting the inside of the bar. He played fantastic.

9 chances created by Ozil today is the most in the premier league this year.

I couldn't watch the Arsenal game. How did Chambers look with a full game in midfield? I'm still not sure what Arsene's plan is for him.

He played well, nothing glaring one way or the other. Couple of nice runs. The only thing that comes right into my head is one cross he made that went about 100mph over Giroud and Walcott's head.

Gabriel played very well. Besides the goal his defense was top notch.

Ox did Ox things. Spectacular dribbling, then a dumb pass. Great run forward, then got lost getting back.

Gibbs was solid as well.

Should be interesting. Spurs, United and Liverpool have Europa games - but I think United will not focus on those. Spurs drew Leicester in FA Cup - the loser may have the advantage in the league race (and in an odd scheduling quirk, Spurs host Leicester on the 10th in the FA Cup, and on the 13th for a league match).

I like Spurs position now, and they have the goal-difference advantage for a change. Need to stay healthy though.

 
Man I know we're all waiting for Leicester to come back to reality, but they look good right now against City. How long til the big boys poach Mahrez and Vardy?

Leicester has a multi-billionaire owner with big aspirations. I think its much more likely they'll be buying next month. The main difficulty is that they will have to pay their stars if there are big offers on the table. Mahrez for example has only been in Leicester one year. There should be no expectation of loyalty in either direction. If a club is offering €20m for him, that comes with a certain wage expectation that LC will have to meet, and that type of wage hike for one player can throw things off-kilter if they're not careful.

 
Really good article on Pochettino

This may only be for Spurs fans, but as a general football fan, it provides a really good look at how Pochettino has transformed Spurs' mentality in the 18-months he has been there. He is not the right manager for every team, but Spurs caught the perfect storm, as he was the perfect choice for them, at this point in time.

 
Over the back half of the season Liverpool's only away matches to teams currently in the top-11 are Leicester, Palace and WHU.

Arsenal, City, United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Watford, Stoke, Everton are all at Anfield.

Tied with United, ten clear of Chelsea and still nine off the pace. Not sure I'd have believed that was possible in August.

MIAMI (Reuters) - Banned UEFA president Michel Platini could face further investigation from FIFA's Ethics Committee after attending an awards ceremony and conference in Dubai despite being barred from "all football activity".

Platini, the head of European soccer body UEFA, was handed an eight year ban from the game by FIFA's Ethics Committee on December 21, along with banned FIFA president Sepp Blatter. He is appealing the decision and insists he has done no wrong.

The ban relates to a payment of two million Swiss francs made by Blatter's FIFA to Platini in 2011, nine years after he finished working as a consultant to Blatter.

On December 27, Platini attended the Globe Soccer Awards organised by the Dubai Sports Council in Dubai, along with soccer stars such as Argentine Lionel Messi and Italian Andrea Pirlo.

Frenchman Platini was photographed at the event and also made comments regarding his ban to the Italian media while in Dubai.

A spokesman for FIFA's Ethics Committee declined to comment on the specific case but said: "In general terms: The Investigatory Chamber of the Ethics Committee of FIFA investigates any alleged breach of the Ethics Code of FIFA."

 
I was playing fifa with my 9 year old nephew and his buddy the other day. We decided to try playing on the same team. We took Barcelona. They said we should play against the worst team in the game so we make sure we win. They went right to MLS and picked the Fire :lmao: Swear to god.
