Chelsea won today, but man they look awful. Hazard is non-existent.
 I thought it he looked pretty damned awesome for the whole 15 minutes he played in his first game back from injure. He was directly involved in 3 scoring chances that could have easily let to goals with better finishing (2 by Remy and 1 by Willian)
That could explain why he seemed non-existent. I was watching without sound.

The offense looked lethargic even playing against 10-men. Chelsea didn't have three good scoring chances in the entire second half.

Another weekend, another sad result for United. But man did they look good for the first 15 mins after halftime. Why? NO FELLAINI! Damnit that guy is absolute crap. No movement, not possession. And despite what LVG and the announcers say he is NOT needed and would NOT have prevented the goal.

1 shot on target and it was by Blind?

Are they bulldozing the carriage stables? (inside NYC joke...our moronic mayor is proposing to "rehabilitate" these stables on Central Park as a giveaway to the horse carriages that tourists use...the corollary is that all these horse stables on the far west side of Manhattan would then be open for redevelopment...coincidentally a bunch of the builidings around them are owned by a guy that gave a million dollars to his campaign).

The serious answer is that our current mayor is so inept at these inside political mechanisms that I seriously doubt he has the political ability to get anything done in NYC anytime soon.

I don't have access to SBJ as it is a subscription service but I could read the first couple of paragraphs.

In that they indicated that the holding company recently raised the credit line from $175m to $300m.

$300m is probably what it would take to get the stadium built (assuming the million other variables are solved first) and seeing as how there is not much need for the Yankees to need that money, SBJ might just be making the leap in speculation.

I don't know of the rest of the article provides more concrete information or if was entirely speculation.

Ramires set for £25m move to China
Midfielder Ramires is set to leave Chelsea to become the biggest signing in the history of China's Jiangsu Suning.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/35404103

25M pounds? We may be in 13th place but we own the transfer window :coffee:

Ramires was the un-Brazilian Brazilian - no touch or rhythm to his game. But he had a great work rate and scored a sublime chip at Camp Nou which gave 10-man Chelsea that memorable win in CL semi's. Farewell and good luck!

Atlanta signed their very first player ever today.

23 year old keeper Alexander Tambakis from Panathinaikos.

This is a solid first signing for a number of reasons

1) he already got a small taste of play as a pro in a decent Euro league

2) he has dual US and Greek citizenship so he will not count as an international

3) by coming over a full year earlier, he will have plenty of time to acclimate before starting MLS play in 2017

4) by loaning him to their USL affiliate in Charlotte, they begin to build that relationship between the two teams.

5) they got him on a free transfer

Really well done by Bocanegra.

Good week to purchase Greizmann
Are you referring to fantasy sports? Or like he's going to be sold in real life? I haven't seen anything substantive on the latter.

Regardless, it was disappointing not to get the 3 points at home, but Sevilla is a quality side. As I've been saying for months, Atlético need to find some more people to score. Winning 1-0 late in the game will get you 3 points, but it certainly is too close to the edge to be sustainable.

Barça is obviously in the driver's seat here for the title, and they must be getting pretty good odds.

In other news, Atlético lodged their formal appeal and they will likely try to push the transfer ban out to the winter and summer of 2017, allowing them to make moves this summer.

Thought he looked lively too. Should've been more selfish, IMO, especially when Remy proved inept

Just enough time left in the season to entice Real. I expect some vintage Hazard displays. Kind of the same way that Fabregas seems to have figured out that playing penetrating 20 yard through balls to Costa can give defenses problems.

Adebayor is back in the league - signing with Palace on a free transfer until the end of the season. I think Spurs still are paying him also...

Gervinho to Hebei China Fortune where he'll play for former Atletico and Serbia manager Raddy Antic
Finally...Roma managed to rid themselves of Garcia's boy-toy & sign El Shaarawy in one fell swoop today. Roma can now choose between The Little Pharaoh or the Unfrozen Caveman Egyptian upfront. They are actually the same age, but Salah could "pass" as his father (God knows he can pass "for", not pass "to", any of his teammates). Ahhh, Roma...such a tease, such a mistress...such a mess...but therein lies my attraction...?

P.S. Tokoyo Sexwale

The Galaxy have officially announced the signing of Jelle Van Damme and Ashley Cole (what are they going to do with his corpse?).

Van Damme is the guy that Onyewu sued in court for calling him a "dirty monkey".

How can you NOT vote for this person?!?!?

It seems Chelsea have indeed sold Ramires to a Chinese club, while signing Pato and Matt Miazga. Sad and strange - continuing a bizarre run of disconnected, confusing transfers.

Kind of a sad commentary on poor Pato's career when a lot of people are like "Ok, I can see Miazga as one for the future, but Pato?" I remember when he was going to be the next Original Recipe Ronaldo.

And A$hley the next day. What a likable team! They should try to get Nigel de Jong if only to have an entire team of Bond villains.

They were rumored to be looking at de Jong a couple of weeks ago :)

we have been discussing the Miazga move in the US thread.

As a Chelsea fan, how do you see him fitting in?
I honestly don't know anything about him, and expect a loan is most likely. They will probably keep him at the club this Spring and hopefully give him a look on the U21 team. Chelsea's U21 has been very successful in the FA Youth cup and the UEFA Youth League. Its a great spot to land if he ends up playing there. There is definitely a future need for a CB on the senior team, but I've no idea whether that's in the cards. In any event, its a great youth program and they certainly know their way around the loan system. It would be a great sign if he goes to Vitesse, Chelsea's de facto farm club. There's really no doubt this is a great move for this kid.

He will fit nicely on the bench at Vitesse
That would pretty much be worst case scenario for him. At least he would still get paid, probably ten times what he is making now.

It would be a disaster for a player to be loaned only to sit on the bench, and that does happen from time to time. Chelsea obviously knows the loan game pretty well, and will want to find a place he can play and will likely get some assurances, but that is always a risk. They have a young CB who was with the senior team in 13-14 who started a few games, including a huge one at Anfield and a CL game - Thomas Kalas - who then had a terrible loan at Cologne and is now in the Championship, apparently doing better. The other young CB we're all looking at is Andres Christensen who is at Gladbach, also doing well. Those are the two main young CBs who are the current competition for Miazga. I would not be surprised if CB is a target in the transfer market this summer though.
