Napoli very impressive today, title race will be close
Juventus is a machine; unbelievable how they managed such a drastic roster overhaul with such patience. They were 3(w)-3(d)-4(l)at Halloween, & have since won 12 straight...most impressive is how they've slowly& deliberately incorporated Dybala into their system (from lowly Palermo). He's a sensation...beginning to think they might actually trouble Bayern in CL. No me gusta.
Pogba is also starting to get on one of his absurd Pogba runs. I'm deducting points for being absolutely the last person in the world to start dabbing.

PSG keeps rolling. 2-0 at St. Etienne to make it 32 straight league matches without a defeat. Zlatan(!) with a brace.

The home fans held two minutes of silence in honor of the old PSG supporters pushed aside by the Qataris

Another deserved win for the despised bluagrana against my boys. Not their best showing due to coming in too harsh on tackles.

On the straight red for Felipe on Messi's knee, I didn't see malice in it as he actually pipped the ball first before contact on the knee. Nonetheless, it was an obvious dangerous play and deserved a sending off. Felipe was playing over line the entire time he was on the field and it really cost them. I think he was encouraged as he was having some success dispossessing Messi on the flank and breaking into a counter. Didn't mean you can come in showing studs that high. You're not Nigel de Jong.

In any case, that Suarez winner was ####### ridiculous. Best finishing number 9 in the world, and not by a little. I really wished that Alves would have left by now. His passes from deep were killer. I liked him better when he would try to play higher up and put crosses over the heads of everyone, not to mention being way out of position on defense. Enrique somehow got him to stay home and not play like he's a winger.

I do like the way Carrasco plays. He's really come on as an Arda replacement with more ability to score. Not sure if he's the best partner for Griezmann, but it allows Atleti to mix up their formation a ton in the attacking midfield. Those two plus Correa is a quality young nucleus to build an attack around. I just wish they had a better true CF. Atleti did miss the solid leadership and play of Tiago though IMO. I think he would have settled the game down a bit such that Atlético didn't end up with 9 at the end.

Fyi, I shut it off at half as I knew the game was over. I had better #### to do since my wife is in Kenya and I had the twins by myself all weekend.

Finally, they might as well give the title to Barça now. They won't drop enough points to lose the lead. Time to focus on CL.

Nigel De Jong officially signed with LA.

#LAGalaxy signings of free transfers De Jong, Ashley Cole and Jelle Van Damme cost team less than $1.7 million combined
And the axis of evil is complete
it is a impressive haul. They could start their own heel faction in the WWE right now. The racist guy, the greedy guy and the break your legs guy.

Pretty sweet collection :)

This will fail if there's a God in heaven

How does this affect a team with loads of talent and a serious chance at the title this season?
I'm not sure that it's any worse than the team assuming that Pelligrini was a dead man walking anyway. I still think they're the title winners, although the KDB injury hurts. Ihenacho is beginning to show signs of being able to spell Kun.

I'm going to miss the "This Charming Man" banner at the Ethiad.

If none of the three are good on the mike, maybe they could get Jose Morino to be their manager like an old school wrestler. The possibilities are endless here :)

It's been kind of a boring transfer day with a summer move of manager as the big news. But at least there's been a Peter Odemwingie sighting :drive:

Marseille's move for Peter Odemwingie collapses, instead pursue #SAFC's Steven Fletcher.
In 1993, Marseille won the Champions League...

They should do a whole series of Odemwingie showing up where he's not expected. Crashing weddings, showing up at seders, reporting to Google for a job he doesn't have. Great fun.

I'm kind of more interested in how it affects Bayern. Anything less than the CL title and Pep has to be considered a failure at Bayern, right?
Has to be. He took over a CL winning side and failed to adapt those players to his system.

So Marca Pappa got stabbed by his gf Miss Washington? Linkage

This story is all kinds of wild...
One of my best friends has a story like this. He came home one night and there were cops at his place. Blood here and there (not as much as this story talks about). Turns out that his roommate had a knife wound in his back and that he and his girlfriend were the only two home when it happened.

Roomie's story was that he slipped and fell while carrying it down the stairs. Cops weren't buying, but had nothing to go on. Friend has always said he believed them since roomie and GF were both as straightlaced as you could be. I always thought she stuck him.

Grant Wahl is saying Messi is going to play the Copa instead of the Olympics according to the Argentinian manager.
That must have been an impressive sponsorship battle to get that to happen.

Messi and Neymar are the keys for the tournament. US and Mexico should be huge and if both Messi and Neymar come, it should assure a well watched tournament.

I am still a bit iffy on how the ticket prices will affect things but having the big names there should only help.

I disagree.

Which players has Pep failed to adapt? Long-time Bayern fixtures like Muller, Robben, Lahm, etc. have thrived in his system.

Bayern has absolutely crushed the Bundesliga during Pep's tenure. People act like that's supposed to be automatic but Dortmund won it in 2011 and 2012.

Pep took Bayern to the CL semifinals 2 straight years, each time losing to the eventual champ, either Real or Barca. As rich as Bayern is, those clubs are even bigger.

He's met every reasonable expectation. It'll be a disappointment if he never wins a CL there, but hardly a failure.

Team Dr. Mueller-Wholfahrt is also reportedly coming back, so really nothing lost, unless you count Dante.

Luckily, the Italians have stepped into the breach.
While the reporter was Italian, it appears the report was from outside Stamford Bridge. Since the perpetrator also seems to be wearing Arsenal gear, I think we can conclude that Britain maintains superiority in transfer deadline day shenanigans.

I finally got a presale code, and frankly the prices aren't that steep even for NYC. You can get seats $65 a match and that includes a quarterfinal which may be US-Brazil.

LVG must want to be a friend to the environment constantly planting the big tree in the middle of United's lineup.
