They were talking Soccer Mt Rushmore on the radio this morning.  Im sure it was done here before but it was an interesting topic.  They assumed Cruyff was on there, so whos the other 3?

Pele, Best, Maradonna

Are Messi or Ronaldo (either of them) worthy yet?  Other options?

Pele, Maradonna, Kruyff, Beckenfrauder.... and then we can quibble about Messi, Best, di Stefano, Garrincha, Eusebio, Zidane, Puksas and even CRo.

My five:

Pele, Maradonna, Messi, Beckenbauer, Fat Ronaldo

I never remember tranny prostitute loving CRO in my lists. TBH- I need to go back and look at more of what his game was about... I have him as a kind of poacher bati-goal type of finisher in my memory, but I know he was a lot more than that.

Get thee to YouTube!  Here's the thing about him.  There are two Ronaldos.  At PSV, Barca, and his prime years at Inter, he was a physical freak who also had ball skills.  He was so fast and so strong that he looked like a freight train out there.  Then he had the knee injuries and had to remake his game somewhat.  He couldn't dominate the game physically, but his ball skills got all the better and his finishing became deadly.   He was awesome at Real, but that was as a diminished Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is the one guy in everyone's top 10 who you can argue could have had a much better career (I suppose you can wonder what would have happened if Cruyff had played in Argentina in 78).

If not for Messi, I'd still say the real Ronaldo was the best player I'd ever watched.  In addition to all the tricksy stuff in that video he could blow by you and finish from anywhere.

  love that you even had to put the qualifier in there.
he has to put that in given the history down there.  This is what, the 4th site now they are trying?

It is interesting that the tweet came from Claure as the rumors have been that Becks has been shopping for another sugar daddy.

so here is the news of the stadium in Miami that gives a little more info.

http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2016/03/24/david-beckham-miami-soccer-stadium-land

looks like they purchased the land, I have no idea what the location is like though

======================================

David Beckham and his investing group have purchased land for a new soccer stadium in the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, the organization announcedThursday.

In February 2014, Beckham announced in  he would buy a Miami MLS expansion franchise, a perk of the contract he signed with the LA Galaxy in 2007. Since then, he has been looking for a location to build a privately-funded stadium in Miami, with proposals to build the stadium downtown and in an area across from Marlins Park all falling through.

“We have the right site, the right ownership group, and a loyal base of fans counting down the days until are first match,” Beckham’s partner Marcelo Clauresaid in a statement. “We’re all-in on Overtown, and we couldn’t be more excited about moving forward with plans to deliver the most responsible stadium in Miami history.”

Best five I actually saw play...

Messi
Ronaldo (BRA)
Zidane
Maldini
Buffon
Ronaldo (POR)
Henry
Vieira

Ok, that's eight.  But those are the guys that really stood out for me.  Neuer and Suarez are active players not on the list who are building a case too.

I was talking to my dad the last night about Cryuff and he reminded me that I saw him play live, along with Pele, Best and Beckenbaur when we went to NASL games.

I was way to young to really apprecite it though.  I think I only really remember the Pele game.

I guess it is like some 8 year old at an MLS game today watching Drogba.

Yeah, I had Diplomats season tickets for Cruyff's year.  I obviously saw all the stars in the NASL.  Mueller with Tampa.  Best with San Jose.  But as a kid, it was a Cosmos-centric league.  So the two players that always seemed to stand out were Beckenbauer and Chinaglia.  Beckenbauer always looked like the best player on the field, because he was always on the ball.  And Chinaglia just scored so much.

I only very vaguely remember seeing Pele's farewell game with the Cosmos and Santos on tv (he played the first half with the Cosmos and the second with Santos).  He retired a bit before my league watching time.

I completely forgot about this when it happened live, Messi powered a shot at goal and it sailed wide. No big deal  but it hit this chick in the stands on the wrist and at first she was crying and then it looked like she was about to pass out. Every now and then you could kind of see something in the background of the game with medical people around her and it looked like to me that she probably had gotten her wrist broken. It had probably traveled a solid 25-30 yards and still had the power to break her wrist. I think it was probably their last game or the one before it that it happened. Girls wrists are soft.

wtf are you talking about, donny?

Greatest Victory scene will always be Max Von Sydow contemplating Pele's goal before springing out of his seat in applause. I'm always amazed that nobody has ever cut that into the footage of great bicycle goals like Rooney's against City or Zlatan against England.
