The key to the team for me is Kante.  That dude is just everywhere all the time. 

More than anything though, is they're just so disciplined.  Whether it's staying home, not getting cards, knowing their roles.  It all goes together.  And unlike Floppo, besides for the breakaway Southampton flubbed, I never thought they were truly under pressure.  Kante had Kone's number and Pelle couldn't do anything with Morgan/Huth.  Southampton was also on their best run of form all year. 

The best part of the team though is that they play an exciting style of soccer for a 4-year old to watch even though he is a Chelsea fan (damn Willian :fro:)

 
What a weekend.  Liverpool Tottenham was very entertaining.  Kane is a stud.  Anyone who suggests that Rooney should play in Euros over anyone let alone Kane or Vardy isnt watching.  Basically going by name recognition.  Asinine to think Rooney deserves anything other then a spot on the bench.

El Classico was entertaining as well.  Ref was a disgrace.  Ramos should have seen red earlier (but a yellow for decent that early was harsh), Suarez and Messi should have seen red.  Bale scored a great goal that had no business being called back and Barca's corner leading to the goal should never have got a chance to be taken.

Fitting that this season Martial is the one to score United's 1000 home EPL goal.  He and De Gea are the teams best players this season.  Up next Tottenham away which will make for a tough game.

Conte confirmed as Chelsea's next manager.

interesting that the last two are the only ones in that last (maybe Martial can get there) that aren't what you'd call "all-timers".

love what Kante has done this year- but he definitely needs a drinkwater for when he's parched.

I don't know that they were in trouble against Saints, but it felt like they were on the back foot for more of the game... as they are in most of the games I've seen them play this year. the year-long frenetic defending is what's amazing to me. they're the anti-arsenal... let the other team play around their box and then whammo. 

yeah- totally disciplined and every player on board to do all the extra dirty work to get themselves into the spots they need to be on both sides of the ball.

eta: funny- I thought Mane looked great against Kante, but kept getting doubled up by Drinkwater or somebody else. Also thought the rest of the Saints matched up well until it mattered... but certainly, as the article discusses, Leicester absorbed the match-ups and didn't get challenged on goal too much.

I noticed that too.  Martial looks the part if Jose doesn't come in and give him the lukaku treatment.    Kagawa probably wasnt going to be one, but he, like the rest of the team, got Moyes'd and never was given a chance.

3 games against Barça this year, three identical scorelines.  Atleti score first, then give up 2 goals.  Hopefully they can figure it out on the return leg, but I doubt it.

 
The most terrible part about this is that I have a work meeting next week during the return leg and won´t be able to see it unless I can get to the airport early and convince someone to turn on Fox Sports.  I guess I could find a place to get the internet and stream the game.

Always a grind against Atletico.  Not happy with giving up an away goal - don't know what Pique was doing rushing out and abandoning Torres.  Would have liked a third given the amount of pressure Barcelona applied, but I'll take the win and hope for a good result next week.

Amazing to see Rafinha out there less than 9 months after tearing his ACL.  Getting him in-form would be a huge boost to a tired squad.  Iniesta, Rakitic, and Neymar all look completely gassed lately.

 
Wolfsburg up 1-0 on  Real Madrid with a PK.

From the replay I saw it was questionable.  The Madrid player might have barely clipped the heel.

Holy hell, I can't believe Zlatan has purposely missed twice in one game.  He's pulling the ultimate rope-a-dope on Citeh.
