Wouldn't be surprising to see Vardy, Mehrez and Kante split the 'Leicester' vote and have Kane walk off with it.

Lukaku should win young player IMO.  Alli second.  Coutinho third.

All due respect to the Leicester City center backs, but Alderweireld has been the best CB in the EPL this year - on the team that has conceded the fewest goals...
He's been really good. Probably from spending last season at the feet of the master.

ETA that it was probably the other way around. Soton had a fantastic goals-against ranking last year with Toby. Not this year, even though Virgil has been a pretty good find and they're still sixth in GA.

This is a great game.  I've felt like the winner has been a foregone conclusion for about 40 minutes now, but Atletico keeps hanging tough.  Now, Barcelona seems to be pressing and realizing that they may actually lose.  Fascinating to watch.

I half expected the guy who Griezmann to get a second yellow for his tackle 2 seconds after his substitution.

Well that sucked.  Congrats to Atletico as well as Z Machine.  The more deserving team went through.  Thought Iniesta should have been red-carded for the handball, and wouldn't have been surprised if Suarez got one for the elbow on Godin, though that seemed more difficult to see, especially in real time.  Barcelona had nowhere to go in 180 minutes.  They were reduced to hoping for some good deflections and bounces around the box.  They pounced on a few in the first leg, but couldn't get it done in the second.

Hope Pep and Bayern get it done now.

Barca couldn't do anything with their possession.  Just nothing.  Totally marked Messi out of the match.

I don't feel too bad the penalty wasn't called considering Iniesta shouldn't have been there to send the ball into the box anyway.
Felt like pre-Enrique where Messi spent too much time centrally instead of on the wing.

Barcelona the lesser team in each leg, but man it sucks that the penalty wasn't called at the end.

On the one hand, it's kind of a bummer to feel cheated of greatness.  It wasn't long ago that I thought this Barca team was the best I've ever seen.  But it's a long season.

On the other, I can't say that I always enjoy watching Atletico.  But I'm amazed that Simeone has been able to get that level of commitment from the team for this long.  By this time, Mourinho's teams are looking to throw him in a wood chipper.  It's not just the physical commitment.  It's the mental strength to just grind out results season after season.  All while replacing key players every year.

Simeone is a great coach and, as much as it would help Barcelona, I hope he stays in Madrid a long long time.

I'm still jittery from the game. Made a total ### out of myself at the Ruby Tuesday in the Knoxville airport.

All thep best to Arda. I hope that no playing time, big paycheck, no hard work in practice was everything you wanted. I'm hoping for no silverware for you.

True commitment and dedication to the game plan from Atleti. Loved the high press and forcing Ter Stegen to play the ball at his feet all game.  Barça looked gassed and slow from the first minute.  Maybe all three games over this season have caught up to them.

I will never know why Gabi didn't get any love for Spain.  The dude is a beast in the middle.  So smart and disrupts so well.  I'm telling you, pair him with Busquets in the middle of a 4-4-2 with someone as a false nine... I don't know who would break them down.

Very likely.  They've been lucky in several games this year, including the reverse tie.  That luck ran out today.

Arda hasn't fit in well at all.  I didn't get that move.

Carrasco has been as good as Arda IMO, but just a bit less hot headed.  Great piece of business making that move.

Felipe has gotten better and better since coming back. Both he a Juanfran aren't the offensive threats that other fullbacks ate, but they really didn't put any feet wrong tonight.   Very strong mental performance, even from Lucas Hernández, who has only a few starts under his belt.

Does anyone have the stats on speed and ground covered per player? I have a feeling that those stats are much more equal than the passing stats.
