Shame to have Toure and Ronaldo out for a match like this.  Very hectic so far.  

Also, it is much more fun to watch these on European time than in the middle of the afternoon :banned:

So much for the game in hand.  The Dons are still five points up with two to play in the race for the final playoff berth.

 
First things first; I'm convinced Antonio Conte is Satan...I mean, just look at his eyes!  If that ain't "Old Scratch"...the devil is in the details.  I abhor the fact that he's intent on raiding Serie A, especially Roma.  My beloved Radja is his next apparent target, along with Pjanic, Manolas & Rudiger.  The frustration lies in that although Chelsea won't have CL next year, they can pretty much double all said players' salaries.  CL play used to be the incentive, but with the absurd amount of $ the PL is guaranteed, it seems the money talks & alas, the bull#### follows.  Mama Mia!  Che fatta?!

Any time there's a coaching change, the rumors of the new manager bringing this player or that with him are inevitable, but how often does it really happen? I know there are examples, and I'm sure Conte has some targets in mind, but its natural at this time that Serie A players will be the subject of the rumors, even though in most cases there's nothing behind them. I advise patience.

 
The obligatory butt kicking at the hands (feet?) of Citeh is coming up for Saints this weekend. Can one of you tactical wonks explain why this matchup is almost never competitive?

I'm a Roma fan, patience isn't in our DNA.  I know what you say to be true, it's just that I think the new PL deal  has changed the scope & parameter of the transfer market...especially when evil worlds collide...Juventus, Chelsea & Satan are not strange bedfellows...

Liverpool are still favored to win the Europa League, but not sure I'm buying it with Sakho, Henderson and Can out.  That's the defensive heart of the team missing.

 
I have no idea what is going on with Beckham now.

* Recently his group purchased land for the stadium in Miami

* Yesterday it was reported that Simon Fuller (Becks partner) put so many demands on the Qatari group they were courting that the group backed out of joining the ownership group

* Also yesterday, Mark Davis, owner of the Raiders, stated that Beckham was going to join him in Vegas to pitch a dual use football/soccer stadium

I was just reading some news this morning and the amount of press this has generated in Detroit is huge.

I had first assumed this was a "kick the tires" type of thing but the more I read the more it seems that Detroit may have jumped up the expansion queue.  The two billionaires have a meeting set with Garber to give him their full pitch.

The biggest disappointment for me will be if Chelsea supporters fail to exploit the potentially classic "Whoa Black Betty, Nainggolan" chant. They dropped the ball on "Ba Ba Ba, Baba Rahman" gift-wrapped to them this season.

Sang a few "Whoa Black Betty, Radamel" during the Falcao era at United.

 
Simeone got a 3 match ban for the ball boy rolling out a ball to try and prevent a Málaga counter attack.  I can't really argue with the decision and I don't really comprehend why Simeone would instruct the ball boy to do that.  Pretty poor judgment IMO.  Maybe he didn't give the instruction and the ball boy was acting on his own volition, but it didn't look that way from the few replays I saw.  Shame as they have 3 games left and if they win out and Barça falters in any way, they can snatch the title.

CL is today and pretty important though, so the focus is there first obviously.

He has other priorities now that he has signed with Polk High FC.  I expect a higher work-rate than he has historically been used to.

 
Why didn't Atletico give them a name?  As I understand it the manager is only suspended in the event that the culprit can't be charged.  Seems crazy to have Simeone take the fall.  Maybe he actually did it or instructed someone to do it?  Or it was another player more valuable to the team?

Hendo I don't mind.  Can and Sakho hurt.  This year whenever it's not Sakho/Lovren, we have been crap at the back.

The unnamed gambler put 50p on Claudio Ranieri's team to finish top before the season began at odds of 5,000-1.

But he cashed out after an opening day win for 5p less than his stake and will now miss out on a £2,500 pay day.

An interesting note:

In '74 Bayern started 9 Germans and Madrid started 10 Spaniards.

Using each clubs' last CL match, Bayern started 4 Germans, and Madrid started 4 Spaniards.
