Spain's best story is still Eibar. Saw a show about then when they were promoted, well done and a good watch. Then they get a lifeline after being relegated when Elche get demoted for unpaid debt and are now going to stay up again it seems.

I need a real gunners jersey

Remember the name of the show?

Villareal is always my favorite underdog.  They play in a stadium with a capacity of half the town's population and consistently flirt with success.  Plus "yellow submarine" is a quality knickname.

it really is.

but didn't realize any of that about Villareal... for some reason, always assumed they were one of the bigger dogs.

all of this "minnows" and "maribes" talk just got me thinking... we'll never have that in the US without promotion/relegation. all of the teams will be big(ish) money teams with appropriate stadia and from appropriate cities. excluding philly of course. we all love an underdog- but Colorado or Orlando winning hardware won't excactly light the world on fire in that respect.

The Chicago Cubs winning the WS might.....

I don't

It might have even been a La Liga preview show, but they spent a lot of time on Eibar and their story.

oh my eyes.

is that... b...b..baseball talk?
ssshhhh dont tell anyone.

Back to the better world of futbol. Fellaini and Huth both charged and received 3 match bans.  Huth will miss the last 2 this season and first 1 next season.  Fellaini misses the final 3 United games this season but is eligible for the FA Cup final.  Then lets hope he gets sold to anyone that wants him.

On the other hand, if the sport gets big enough here we'll have the pleasure of watching clubs use the limited number of franchises as leverage to rape taxpayers across the land for better facilities. Those silly Euro folks never get to enjoy that.

Were all fans of the yellow football team, yellow football team .... :suds:

Its unbelievable that Werder or Stuttgart (or both) could be relegated. Otto should never have left Bremen for Bavaria.
It is.  Of course Hamburg have flirted with it the last two seasons.  You have that top group of Hamburg (53 seasons), Bayern (51), Dortmund (40), Stuttgart (39), Leverkusen (37), Bremen (35) and Schalke (25) that you can't imagine ever going down.    After that the next longest streaks are Wolfsburg (19) and Hannover (14), and Hannover is already dropping.  The remaining nine teams (half the league) have been in the top flight 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 8.

The one year I lived in Bielefeld and followed Schalke they were actually in the 2nd BL. I saw several games at the old Parkstadion, which was awesome. Very rowdy crowd. Matthias Herget was on that team, and I think Jens Lehman.

Brazil names their Copa squad.

cake for the US.

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Internacional), Diego Alves (Valencia) and Ederson (Benfica)

Defenders: Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Fabinho (Monaco), Filipe Luis (Atletico Madrid), Douglas Santos (Atletico Mineiro), Miranda (Inter Milan), Gil (Shandong Luneng), Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain), Rodrigo Caio (Sao Paulo)

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Elias (Corinthians), Casemiro (Real Madrid), Rafinha (Barcelona), Renato Augusto (Beijing Guoan), Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool), Lucas Lima (Santos) and Willian (Chelsea)

Forwards: Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich), Hulk (Zenit), Ricardo Oliveira (Santos) and Gabriel (Santos)

If Ruiz lifts his foot right away I think it's just a foul.  But he held it there and followed Lallana's foot up off the ground too.  Looked like he wanted to keep it there as long as he could.

Hmm - went back and rewatched in real time - the replay I didn't see the little bit after.  Still not sure it's a red but do think that was dumb.
