I think we found Bob Bradley's new job!Club America looks like a steal at under $200m. They must have some serious debt.
It'd be awesome for a USian to buy Club America and stock the team with USMNT talent.
Right. Problem is that you cannot play in the midfield in Barcelona's 4-3-3 system without being able to track back well and tenaciously. He's a fine player, but I just never saw the fit (particularly for the price) unless the intent to was to play him at LF/RF.Arda wasn't a great defensive winger in Cholo's system. He was much more of a chance creator and attack facilitator. He had plenty of stupid fouls and wasn't the best at knowing when to give the "professional" foul. In that sense, Gabi is the consummate system player for Cholo, and many people see him and Cholo's lieutenant on the pitch. There's a reason he's the captain. Atleti's fortunes mimic those of Gabi. When he's on, Atlético can be a beast of a team to play against. When he's off, the middle of the park gets soft and the defense gets exposed in myriad ways. I was upset when Arda left because it removed a vital creative force for the team. Thankfully, Carrasco has picked up that mantle, and Cholo has brought in a few others to help in that regard.

I was kind of surprised by that number too. I know it is an old run down stadium but I guess I gave too much value to Azteca , which they own.Club America looks like a steal at under $200m. They must have some serious debt.

I can't speak for how they value foreign clubs but I can tell you their estimates on MLS teams are generally excellent (maybe they have better access to the local data). A few years back, they valued the Crew at $70m and the team eventually sold a couple of months after the Forbes report came out for $68m.The Forbes football club valuations should be marked, "For Entertainment Purposes Only". Exactly. They don't won't a national treasure to fail, all American-like.Christo said:Giggs ruled-out for Swans job. I suspect he's happy about that.
No love lost between those countries.NewlyRetired said:This is an interesting comment from Honda's agent about why they are rejecting the offers from China

Keisuke Honda’s agent confirms the Milan midfielder rejected Chinese offers - “we definitely prefer MLS”.
“We’ve been in contact with several Chinese clubs,” Japan Yahoo Sport quotes his agent as saying.
“We declined their offers though because of the problems that Keisuke would have in adapting to China. We definitely prefer MLS.
“Keisuke isn’t playing much in Milan and he doesn’t want to lose his place in the national team.”
Its no great surprise Honda would reject an offer to play in China. I'm surprised he got an offer, although "offer from China" seems to be on every agent's lips these days.No love lost between those countries.
That was kind of my thought too. MLS has been used in the past to artificially inflate a players worth by agents and I am sure every agent out there will be using China now as the go to case for overpricing. Its no great surprise Honda would reject an offer to play in China. It seems like the top-6 have separated a bit from the pack - but I think 1 or 2 will fall off the pace by the end of the season. So at January 1, there are 6 teams in the Premier League averaging 1.89 points/game. Averages out to 6 teams taking 72+ points over a 38-game season.
2015-16 - 1 team
2014-15 - 3 teams
2013-14 - 5 teams
2012-13 - 5 teams
2011-12 - 2 teams
2010-11 - 1 team
2009-10 - 3 teams
Will this 6-team pace hold up?
Twellman gets another one correctI love the direction the league seems to be baby stepping towards in terms of trying to have a balance between the big name 30 and over players and starting to target quality, lesser known players in their prime.

6 games in 16 days... nice one FA.The run of fixtures, described by Lineker as "absolutely bonkers", kicks off on Saturday December 16, has a midweek fixture on December 20, another clash on Saturday December 23, then games on Boxing Day, Saturday December 30 and New Year's Day.
Don't think CR7 relishes the thought of living in St. Pete when he comes to MLS at 34.I have no idea if there any meat behind this rumor but it makes a lot of sense. The rumor is that the Tampa Bay Rowdies owner (who wants to get into MLS) has contacted David Beckham in an attempt to see if he would be interested in partnering in Tampa.
Beckham of course still holds the golden ticket which has to expire eventually.
Feghouli's red is rightfully rescinded... And Mike Dean is assigned to the Tottenham v Aston Villa FA Cup tielol... and in the whoa-amazing camp, fernandinho had his red card appeal rejected.
wait... and in the whoa-amazing camp, fernandinho and city had the audacity to appeal that red card.
Anyone know anything about these two? Gerso is a DP from the Portuguese league. A little surprising to see an MLS team pluck a 19yo from the Ghana Premier League. Blessing is also on the Ghana 30-man roster for the African tourney.Sporting KC has agreed to deals in principle with wingers Latif Blessing and Gerso Fernandes, a source told The Star. The agreements will bring both players to MLS for the first time.
Fernandes, 25, has played professionally in Portugal for six seasons. Blessing, 19, was recently named the most valuable player of the Ghana Premier League after leading the league with 17 goals.
I wonder how you-know-who feels about this.Sporting KC transfer news...

One of MLS many cost savings measures over the years was to have a small central scouting team that provided information to all teams. Recently (past 5 years) many MLS teams have created their own scouting network but the core league wide group still exists for those owners too cheap to put in their own.Seems like the entire MLS has been scouting Ghana.
RHE? you worried he won't be able to pun on those two?I wonder how you-know-who feels about this.
Yeah, I Gerso.RHE? you worried he won't be able to pun on those two?
That's a delicate balance. One of the side effects of rules favoring native-born players is inflation of their market value, which makes foreign players more cost-effective in comparison. It's one thing for a league to enact controls like MLS has done but Chinese football is not single-entity and has relegation/promotion. The government can restrict work permits but again, there's a risk that that will merely drive prices up for qualifying foreign players.Chinese Government to curb the lofty spending of Chinese soccer teams

However the bubble may be about to burst, with China’s Sports General Administration warning clubs that the government would enact regulation to curb “excessively high incomes”.
The government will “regulate and restrain high-priced signings, and make reasonable restrictions on players’ high incomes,” a spokesperson for the SGA added, whilst China will also look to use “rules and policy levers to encourage a long-term culture of local players”.

Let Gervinho figure it outyeah this is not easy.
Even though the Chinese League has promotion and relegation, so much of their funding comes from the government that you could easily consider it a different form a single entity.
