Monaco

On 11 October 2018, Monaco dismissed Leonardo Jardim as club manager.  Jardim's position had become untenable after struggling heavily in domestic competition, with the club 8th at the time of his departure, and disputes over the club's transfer policy.

The key word being "untenable", not unattainable

I got no problem with a coach taking 1st team guys off for thinking only for themselves. I wish more coaches in sports did this. SHouldn't matter your talent play within the teams rules and guidelines. If you are good enough the team will maybe ask for your input or let you branch out a little more. I've always said I'd be the coach in the NBA who's benching his star player for acting up or missing a team meeting. No one should get special treatment. Respect is earned not given.

We had an issue at my job a female manager stepped down from her DM role. She didn't like how my store was ran and tried to become the sheriff in town when she really had no pull. She became a miserable wreck who many of my co workers or managers liked. She ended up transferring out of my store.
So you gave her the "sack", huh?

to be fair, the defensive midfield role is one of the trickier ones to handle.

Wouldn't surprise me to see that Kaku move to Club America happen pretty imminently.  Cecilio Domingez who was just signed after wonderkid Lainez went to Real Betis just got sent to Argentina outfit Independiente.  Dominguez was really good so far this year too.  Club America has really turned into a fun team to watch after a few years playing very defensive minded soccer.  Hopefully a replacement is brought in soon.

A couple of those are really baffling.

it was as good a run in league history as any player.  (Looks like TFC could lose Jozy and Gio at the same time.)

The bad news for Spurs is that the silverware drought continues.  The good news is that South Korea choked against Qatar in the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup, so they'll get Sonny back a bit early.
Rumors of any early return for Harry Kane too...

Looks like something screwed up that put Birmingham first

So the "overnight" ratings didn't account for Birmingham programming changes, NBC says. Here are the final "national" ratings:

1 Cincinnati

2 Memphis

3 Washington, DC

4 Greenville, SC

5 Milwaukee

6 Dayton

7 Norfolk

8 Ft. Myers

9 Baltimore

10 Portland tie Richmond

Its pretty surprising to me that Milwaukee is #5, but  I don't understand these things very well.  We have an NPSL team now (Torrent) but those guys all have day jobs.  Our most established "professional" soccer team by far is the Wave - an indoor team that has been around forever and has a successful history in the various indoor leagues that have come and gone over the years.  After that, I'd say the Marquette University men's team is probably the best soccer in town, and most of those players also probably play for the Wave or the Torrent if not both.

also remember these rankings are ratings, they are not ranking total viewers.   Ratings (in this context) relate to the % of people in the DMA who watched the game.    NY for example never ends up on these lists for soccer but likely has far more total viewers than these other cities just due to their massive size.

Cliffs?
I called Trump a cuckold - but I was respectful - I said I hoped President Cuckold did not read a tweet from Ann Coulter - the one where she called him the biggest wimp to ever serve as President.

It obviously was not nice - but I don't think it was over the top, given that we just ended a shut down he started because Trump was afraid of Coulter, and then got owned by Pelosi.  I think cuckold is a pretty apt description of where he is right now.

Going through some not great stuff with the local AO chapter feeling overwhlemed by growing local MLS SG. Anyone have similar experience?

Álvaro Morata has just arrived in Madrid to sign as new Átletico player. His contract has been signed. Loan + buy option around €50M agreed with Chelsea. Here we go! #CFC #Atleti #Chelsea

Benfica Women won 32-0 today, they were 14-0 up at half time (5th time they've scored 20). Their record this season in both league and cup is now P15 W15, scored 261 goals, conceded none. Ridiculous

Birmingham was a mistake I guess.  Something about there was a last-minute programming change on another channel not picked up by the rating agencies.
Probably had rasslin' scheduled and viewers dozed off before they could change the channel.

Canada has to be sad that Bounou chose Morocco over them.  He is really playing very well for Girona with several clutch saves today (in a loss)

David Amoyal reported on the Calico Land Podcast this past week that Milan's 18M for the Higuian loan is only 9M. Chelsea are now paying half the loan. Chelsea can also extend the loan for another year after the season

FA Cup 5th rd draw:

Bristol City v Shrewsbury/Wolves

AFC Wimbledon v Millwall

Doncaster v Crystal Palace

Middlesbrough/Newport v Man City

Chelsea v Man Utd

Swansea v Barnet/Brentford

Portsmouth/QPR v Watford

Brighton/West Brom v Derby

That seems like a large buy option for a guy who just flopped.

Really interested to hear what the price is.  I am guessing $25ish.
multiple people are reporting it will be a club record buy for Newcastle.  This tweet says $27 but I don't think anyone knows for sure.

This was the last piece of the puzzle for Atlanta to school the rest of MLS.  The are not only spending more than everyone else, now they are already showing they can bring in transfer money as well (which just keeps the whole engine running).

This is also huge for so many young South American's who might see a new lucrative path to Europe while still making nice money in MLS.

Newcastle are close to agreeing a deal worth around $27m with Atlanta for striker Miguel Almiròn. A deal has advanced significantly over the past 24 hours. Will be a club record

Deportivo Cali have accepted the latest offer from Club America for Nicolas Benedetti. Looks like Club America have moved on from Kaku, and Minnesota United will finally, and officially, miss out on the player they've targeted for a while now.

Great deal for all parties.

Almiron gets his dream move to England

Newcastle fans get their man and break their record transfer fee (hard to believe)

Atlanta United triple their $9M investment when they signed Almiron two years ago and already have a comparable replacement in place - Pity Martinez -who they signed for $17M

MLS proves (again) they can attract top talent that top European clubs covet

Im guessing it wont be too long before MLS owners increase their DP spots now that they see the potential $$ that can be made from developing (and selling) top talent

As for me: ------> 😞 Go get em Miggy!!

10.5 years ago, Jozy was sold to Villareal.  That transfer fee record remained in tact, all the way until this off season, in which it was broken twice handily.  One time by an academy developed player (Davies) and one from from a South American (Miggy).

Hope this is a sign of things to come.

League Leaders in England are all L's :)
