I was unable to replicate it when I picked my kid up at soccer the other night.

So, you know... it had to be pretty good.
Same here. We only got the ball a few inches off the ground. That goal was fun to watch.

Origi and Henderson starting today.  Meanwhile City subbed on Mahrez and Jesus yesterday.

I still don't think Liverpool will be able to hold off City, but Klopp's coaching his balls off this year.

In other news...

Matip has staked a claim to the #3 CB spot IMO.  He's been better than Lovren.  Scheduled to walk at the end of the year, but he's only 27, so I wonder if they keep him around.  Maybe as a #4 behind a Lovren replacement?

Fabinho/Wijnaldum are pretty much cemented in as 2/3rds of a first-choice midfield.  Henderson, Milner, Keita and Ox are all fighting for one spot (at least on a regular basis).

Expecting lineup changes for ATLUTD tonight as we "focus on the CCL" early in the season. We should see Tito (likely Pity) and Larry (Remedi or Nagbe) starting for sure. I expect Bello/Abrose at LB for Shea and Escobar for Parkhurst if healthy. There's a thought Kann may start in pace of Guzan as well. Lastly, I'd love to see Carleton start for Barco as well. I'm not holding my breath, but he did make the 18 vs. Herediano.

Did that everton ball boy break kloppers balls at the end there with a series of sarcastic thumbups? God I hope so. Loved klopp laughing at it too

Did the weather in DC have any effect on line up changes?

Boring James Milner‏ @BoringMilner

I just asked Jürgen if he was being serious when he blamed the wind for us not winning. He said Yes, James. I said I think you’re clutching at straws, I blame Mo Salah. He said Not now James.

I assume DC went with full first team...why would the weather have any affect on that? Thought I read ATL rested some guys from/for the CL games...but also saw a lot of familiar faces out there for them, so not sure if that happened.

Pity and Gressel normally would have started for Atlanta but they did sub in yesterday.

very interesting...

MLS has instructed all of its clubs to not have any local broadcast deals go beyond 2022, as the league looks to potentially bundle any combo of its national, international & local rights to maximize its next b'cast deal

Team wasn't strong last night. Brek and Barco had rough nights until Pity and Gressel entered. Josef was frustrated a lot of the night by DC pressing everything played to him for hold up. Guzan gave up a howler, and I think it's fair to say the wet weather contributed to it.

howler

It was a different game when PIty and Gressel came on, quite a few chances created, but it's also fair to say that up 2 goals, DC sat back more to protect the lead.

I'm not worried much beyond the slow start issues we seem to have. If we can get an away goal in the CCL this week, we've played the cards right. If not..... DE BOER OUT!

Toronto has been trying to sign this guy all off season.    Hope he was worth the wait and cost

Joga Bonito USA‏ @Jasoninho10

According to reports from Belgium, #TFCLive will be investing a total of €26M ($29.5M) in Alejandro Pozuelo.

€10M ($11.3M) transfer fee to Genk

4 year DP contract €4M/yr ($4.53M/yr) salary

€16M ($18.2M) in total wages

He's now the 3rd-most expensive signing in #MLS history.

I've never heard of him. now I have... hope all that money pays off for them.

after lots of rumors, these are the 5 rule changes ratified by IFAB this weekend.

I am bummed that some will lower scoring, albeit microscopically.

==============

1. Accidental handball goal won't stand
Goals scored which have hit a player's hand, deliberate or not, will no longer stand.

Gallagher said of the change: "It will be significant as we will no longer see a goal scored hitting the arm.

"80 per cent of the handballs that referees give are not deliberate, but because a player gains a material advantage. Taking the word deliberate out will eradicate that."

Some ambiguity remains and Gallagher added: "We will still have the problem of asking 'has he made himself bigger, has he put his arms in an unnatural position?'

"There will still be the arm close to the body that will hit the arm and the referee will deny a penalty."

2. No rebounds from penalties
One of the changes Gallagher believes will have a big bearing on how we look at football is play stopping for a restart if a penalty is saved or hits the post.

This means players will no longer line up on the edge of the area or attempt a rebound.

Gallagher said: "We've seen Manchester United's Paul Pogba this year score a penalty from his own rebound and on Saturday the Arsenal penalty was saved and the players chased it down and the ball was still alive.

"Now if it hits the post or the goalkeeper saves and it comes back out to the forward, the game will be stopped, there'll be no second chance."

3. Substituted players can leave the field anywhere
To stop time-wasting, when a player is taken off they will no longer have to leave the field at the halfway line and can leave the pitch at the nearest point.

Gallagher said: "Some of the teams hanging on in the past have made a substitute when they are the furthest player from the technical area. This will no longer apply.

"Whether they decide to go to the nearest point remains to be seen, but it's up to the referee to invoke that."

4. No attacking players in the wall
This rule prohibits attacking players standing in the wall when a free-kick is being taken, a tactic increasingly employed in recent years.

Attackers will be made to stand at least one metre from the wall, and is aimed at stopping defenders being moved out of the way, such as Alexandre Lacazette's free-kick for Arsenal in their recent game against Bournemouth.

5. Coaches will receive cards
Currently, coaches only receive verbal warnings for misconduct, but the change will see them receiving yellows and reds as players do.

It will likely be similar to the EFL law adopted last year, where managers can also receive a one-game suspension.

#2 I absolutely hate almost as much as seeing someone who's a Dallas fan never been to Dallas and lives in Philly. #4 I don't like but can live with.

When the eff will Barça lose?  Atleti finally getting back to back away wins in la liga... Morata getting a brace... everything went well except that Barça needs to drop points. 😡

Unless the guy's already gimpy, when does this ever happen (rhetorical).

Rule changes.

Like 3 & 5

Hate 2 & 4

Ambivalent- leaning towards like 1
2 could be improved it you eliminate the penalty taker from touching the ball first off a save/post. I think it's brutal when a keeper makes the save only for the taker to nudge the ball home. That seems like such a penalty for making a great save.

Important to note my son is a keeper, so I'm slightly biased.

Otherwise, I agree with @El Floppo

Agreed, 3 is good and 5 is fine.

I don't like 2.  I mean nothing wrong with a live ball on a miss.  What they should focus on is encroachment.  They site the Arsenal PK from the weekend and that was a bad idea.  First it shouldn't have been a pk and second they missed the encroachment call.

4 is because refs are tired of the pushing and shoving in the wall.  Really is kind of a worthless change to me.

1 - it seems like they are trying to re-write the rules to match how the refs call handballs instead of teaching refs to call to as the laws are.  Handballs are the only one that have to be deliberate.  Yet very few of them are and they get called.  SO I agree, take the word out.  Lets make handball less confusing then the catch in the nfl.

So Wed CL vs PSG will be interesting for United.  Pogba, Herrera, Matic, Mata, Sanchez, Lingard all out.  Martial is 50/50.  They are going to go in with this lineup:

Rashford Lukaku Dalot
      Fred            Pereira
           McTominay
Shaw Lindelof Smalling Young
           De Gea

Thats quite a midfield to play with vs PSG.  If Martial is fit he goes on the left and Rashford and Lukaku move over one, Dalot sits down.

They aren't expected to go through so all I am hoping for is they put in an effort.  Go on the attack.  Whatever happens happens.  But don't play scared, go at em.

Pk is a direct free kick iirc. Pk taker can't score off the post rebound unless somebody else touches it first.

And if the gk saves it right back to him...play stops? Gk gets a commemmorative coin, and then play on?

I don't understand #1.  What are they talking about - a deflection off a defender's hand?

I'm sure I'm missing something here: "It will be significant as we will no longer see a goal scored hitting the arm."  WTF?

Otherwise:

2. No rebounds from penalties

Dislike - rebound goals are cool.

3. Substituted players can leave the field anywhere

Like - obviously

4. No attacking players in the wall

Dislike - entertainment value when the jockey for position will be missed.

5. Coaches will receive cards

Like - potentially awesome.  I'd like to see :mansion: odds for the first manager to get a straight red.
