Lol, thanks @The Gator.

Some people are saying that this Liverpool team is the greatest of all time, but I don't think so. I think those Barça teams of the early 2010s were better, especially with Puyol at the back and Suárez in his prime. Not to mention Messi, but he's been on another level for his entire career.

Those are called Liverpool Fans and are being referred to as "The Insufferables"

Not even the greatest EPL team of all time.

It seems to me LFC is paying a price for winning the title so early and apparently taking their foot off the gas a bit. It’s still a special season, and would be spectacular if they can repeat in the champions league, but some of the records that looked likely are now lost. No points record, not unbeaten at home.
This was no dropped points at home, right?  Until the Burnely draw happened anyway.  IIRc they still haven't lost at home in PL since early 2018-19 season.

I'm happy to go on record saying this was/is a historic Liverpool EPL team, and as dominant as any I've ever seen- post virus let-down not withstanding.

And definitely in discussion for one of the best of any league ever. Imo, Barca, RM, BM have had teams better in my memory... And United, City and maybe one of those Milan teams as well...along with pre EPL Liverpool for that matter. But they're worthy of being on the discussion.

Correct, in the premier league.  If they win or draw against Chelsea at home next week, I think the home unbeaten streak will be about 60 games.  Chelsea has the record at 86 games unbeaten (04-08), so its in reach.  Third on the list is Manchester City with 37 (2010-12).

This is, by far, the best Liverpool team i have ever supported.

I don't really feel qualified to judge teams based on the eye test, but if you just look at numbers - Man City had more points and a much more dominant goal differential two years ago.  Chelsea 04-05 only gave up 15 goals all season (LFC has conceded 29 with 2 games to play) and only lost once.  Arsenal of course were unbeaten 03-04.  If you go back before the Premier League and look outside of the league accomplishments, you can't deny the ManUnited treble season was a superior accomplishment.

Was thinking about that Chels team, but couldn't really remember the exact team. and completely spaced on the arsenal squad. But even those...I don't remember them being as so clearly dominant vs the league game to game and stats aside.

And I'm sure I'm overlooking some older squads from other leagues.

Mourinho's Chelsea teams (first stint) probably won't be in the conversation because they played a boring style (unless you really love defense). But 15 goals conceded in a premier league season is pretty dominant and a record that could stand for a while. Second place on the all-time list is Mourino's team the following season, which conceded 22.  Mourinho set up very defensively against the top teams, and there were a ton of 1-0 and 0-0 games, then beat up on the minnows.  LFC were very much a dominant team this season no doubt, but I don't think much separates them from the Man City machine of 2017-18, which won 32 games and had an incredible +79 goal differential.

thansk for that... yeah- that's kind of what I remembered about those TSO chelsea teams.

totally agree about that City team and Liverpool... but IIRC, Liverpool wrapped up the league earlier. tbh, I only remember a couple of games where the other team seemed competitive this season pre-covid- City (who got smoked, but were the better team on the day IMO) and IIRC, United. otherwise it always felt like a foregone conclusion... like ET under Sir Al. But yeah- regardless of when they wrapped the league, that City team was similarly dominant and fun to watch (I give credit to the eye test)

With a win today Leeds (Leeds, Leeds) needs 1 point for promotion. Either WBA or Brentford dropping points does the trick as well...  each team has 2 games left.   MUCH EXCITE!

WGUAFC!

Aston Villa up 1-0 over Everton.  If that result holds, it will surely be squeeky bum time for Watford/West Ham tomorrow

If I had my way, Bournemouth and Brighton would join Norwich and take the drop as I think the premier league is better with the likes of Villa and West Ham up, but you never know what's going to happen.

I don't disagree but I feel Bournemouth plays a much more positive brand of football than Villa.

Villa spent oodles just not the best buys.  Bournemouth doesn't spend.

If Villa goes down, the team will be decimated - I mean it's not unusual, but Grealish, Mings, Mcguinn will all surely be gone.  They could go into a Sunderland like decline.  If they stay up, they can spend.  I like when teams are willing to spend because that gets more quality spread around more teams.

Leicester just won, United will be absolutely desperate to get all 3 points today here.  🙏

LEEDS (LEEDS, LEEDS) IS BACK IN THE TOP FLIGHT!

1 more point out of the final two games and WGUAFC!!!!
without remembering what WGUAFCA means... they don't need any more points based on west brom losing- they're up.

who gives up a ####### cup?

eta: and congrats... when I started looking at english soccer, leeds were a big player. really nice to see them back up.

Not a Leeds fan, but happy to see them back up.  As an aside....  the first time I ever played Football Manager was in 2008.  I picked Leeds as my team to manage as I wanted to return a former power player to glory.  Bob Snodgrass and Jerry Beckford both bagged 20+ that year as Leeds WUAFC in League 1, then I repeated the success the next year and Leeds took 2nd in the Championship.  After promotion to the EPL, I was succinctly let go due to a contract dispute and ever since I've hated Leeds....  thanks to a video game.

At an all day softball tournament, but just wanted to check to to say that Leeds (Leeds Leeds) are actually GUAFC!

We're going up as ####### champions?

WTF? Replacing a manager with 2 matches to go and you're 3 points clear of relegation??

@mcgrathmike: It is understood Nigel Pearson will be replaced as #Watford manager for the final two games of the season

Should have at least gone with Charlotte FC Soccer Club as the official name.
LA has a new womens league team, Angel City FC

A loaded ownership group that features a slew of former U.S. women's national team stars (including Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, Julie Foudy and Lauren Holiday), celebrities (including founder Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Garner and Uzo Aduba) and industry leaders (including Kara Nortman, Julie Uhrman and Alexis Ohanian) and many more will steward the league's 2022 expansion team in the city, which for now is going by the moniker Angel City.

I may go to a game simply to see the owners.

Which stadium are they using, LAFC or where the Galaxy play?
