I couldn't tell you either team from watching that. :(

and never heard of this guy... Chofis?

But seriously-- incredible goals.

I think the San Jose smurf blues are easy to recognize. The white kit could be any of 14 teams in MLS.  Terrible branding by so many teams.

Chofis is on loan from Liga MX

I saw french in the background so figured one team was Montreal. That blue didn't resonate as definitively SJ to me.

Fun with Champions League group standings (since 2014/2015):

  • 11+ points - going thru
  • 10 points - 12/14 went thru
  • 9 points - 7/13 went thru
  • 8 points - 7/13 went thru
  • <8 points - going home

Win your 3 at home

Win one on the road and you are through
Draw one on the road and you are probably through.

Here is a better Philly story.  Curtain just oozes "nice guy"

So to clarify this: Jim Curtin, hours after the game, gave a mother and daughter who were Club America fans from NY and stranded in Chester, a ride back to their hotel in Center City.

Derby County - managed by Wayne Rooney - have gone into Administration, triggering a 12-point deduction, and could see a further 9-point deduction for violation of other financial rules.

According to a preseason podcast I heard, they were all but doomed to relegation from the start, and it only got worse when Rooney seriously injured one of his best players with a hard tackle in pre-season training. But this is even worse than anyone could have imagined.  One of the oldest, original English football clubs from the 1800's, and only a couple years removed from playing in the Championship promotion playoff under Lampard.

I just think it's kind of weird to close a discussion of some poor couple getting murdered by pulling some Philly cheesesteak cred.

Sounds like the murder was friendly fire. Video security footage it's Club America on Club America Crime. Still unfortunate but no Union fans were hurt in the kerfuffle

Its djax...he's a do or die homer.

I didn't even take offense to the NYC shade, tbh.

I'm just stating I'm not surprised at problems there because that's where the out of towner crowds go. There was another incident at Geno's a few months ago when a Giants fan out of town attacked someone.

Guisseppi Rossi is part of the Calcio Paramount+ crew now. Today they showed some of his Fiorentina highlights

Relegation side Juve draws 1 all vs Milan who has Ante Rebic as their daddy these days.

Union beat ORL who go down to 10 men 3-1 after being dumped out of Cocacafe Champions League by Club America on Wednesday.

After a year off the kid has started soccer again.  Between the pandemic and club she was burned out and went back to AYSO for some fun.  Her team won their opener 6-2, she scored and had some excellent passes.  Was fun to watch her play again.

And with my Men's Sunday League starting up again this coming weekend, I am reminded of a great saying....

"FUTBOL IS LIFE!!"

oh and "SHUT UP THIERRY HENRY!!!"

So…the Vice President of Suriname, who is 60 years old, is PLAYING in Concacaf League against Olimpia tonight, captaining the team he owns.
played 54 minutes in a 0-6 home drubbing.

then was seen in the opposing team's locker room with a bag of cash. at least according to twitter (there was a picture of him in there).

that dude's background is ... interesting.

I saw the video.  He was handing out bills like he was in a strip joint.  :lmao:  What a clown and pure Concacaf.

Concacaf seems desperate to regain their status as the most entertaining federation off the field.

I know it's a cup game, but United's lineup, oof.

And Phil ####### Jones made the bench.  His testimonial game right around the corner.
I was happy with the lineup and with the exception of Mata its what I thought would happen.  Should be a team that can beat WHU

Although Jones really can be let go...

6/11! And no extra credit! Some clues for you and @El Floppo

You are correct on:

1. Nicholas Anelka  - yes with Real Madrid when he was 19. That's the only time he won in his career

2. Edgar Davids - yes with Ajax during that great team in the mid-90's

3. Angel Di Maria  - Yes with Real Madid

4. Steffan Effenberg  - Yes with Bayern in 2001 right before left Bayern (and retired soonafter)

5. Luis Figo  - Figo won once with the Real Madrid Galacticos.

6. David Luiz  -  Won with Chelsea in 2012, starting for the suspended John Terry

A few hints:

Michael Ballack never won the CL - He was a finalist at both Leverkusen and Chelsea but lost both times. Bayern didnt make the final while he was there.

Cesc Fabergas has never won the Champions League - he somehow jumped between Barca and Chelsea and missed out on all the European glory!

Five more to go...
