NWSL looks like they may be cancelling all upcoming games.
What's very telling in the Athletic piece is how Riley left Morgan, Tobin Heath and other Portland star players alone and focused on fringe players because he had more power over them.
wow. I guess I shouldn't be shocked, but I'm shocked.NWSL looks like they may be cancelling all upcoming games.

From the BBC: Newcastle takeover: Saudi Arabian-backed deal is closeNewcastle takeover dreams are trending again with the announcement that Saudi Arabia is lifting the ban on BeIn Sports. Piracy of EPL games being left unchecked there was one of the various reasons (some insist it’s the main reason but who really knows) for the Premier League to drag their feet on approving the deal. 0.5% of Newcastle fans are excited while the remaining 95.5% of the Toon Army is so snake-bitten they’re berating that 0.5%.

Approval from the Premier League could possibly come in the next 24 hours after a consortium proved the Saudi state would not have control of the club.
Instead the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is set to provide 80% of funds for the £300m deal, will be seen as separate to the state and therefore allow the takeover to pass the Premier League owners' and directors' test.
It was believed that a resolution came after Saudi Arabia settled an alleged piracy dispute with Qatar-based broadcaster beIN Sports, which own rights to show Premier League matches in the Middle East.
But sources have told BBC Sport that an agreement between the Premier League and the consortium was found prior to the news emerging on Wednesday, with the two parties being set for arbitration on 3 January.

I loved the city, personally. Didn’t see the ugly parts, admittedly, but there’s plenty to do and it won’t be hard to be a legend there.Sinn Fein said:It will be interesting to see which players take the money to go live in Newcastle ... I am not sure that is an easy ask.
Breaking: funds received funds and shares transferred!!!! We await official word from Premier League. #nufc #NUFCTakeover latest on @SkySportsNewsMartyn Ziegler

A bit of red tape has held up the Newcastle takeover announcement but no big issues I'm told. Still expected today. #nufctakover
FixedMino has Player A at Team X and he apparently already wants to leavedo to playing timeSo Mino can get more commissions from another transfer.
Yeah...I've always assumed that was one the attractions of the Barca, Madrid, Milan, PSG, and of the London clubs of the world. Much the same way NBA guys want to go to NYC, LA, or Miami. Maybe that's not as big of a concern here with more top-end talent available.Sinn Fein said:It will be interesting to see which players take the money to go live in Newcastle ... Will be interesting to see how they do it. Might have to overpay to get a few names in, then show some movement up the table and commitment to winning and maybe they can become the next City/Chelsea.Yeah...I've always assumed that was one the attractions of the Barca, Madrid, Milan, PSG, and of the London clubs of the world. I know people say a lot of things, especially at the beginning, but the stated plan (and what the majority of the fans want) is a long term plan that rebuilds the facilities/infrastructure and builds a strong foundation. Nobody is really expecting insane splash signings. Right now the team just needs to survive the season, so Bruce will get fired and they’ll sign some solid players in January to help them stay up.Will be interesting to see how they do it. The group that purchased Newcastle, Saudi Arabia Public Investment Trust, is chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salmon (MBS).
You might have to find another mildly garbage team in England to fixate on. Maybe Leeds? Watford? Birmingham? Not a fan of this part at all. This guy is responsible for Koshoggi death and is a big supporter of terror groups including hijackers responsible for 9/11

I mean Ashley in the end should be commended as he knew he was losing money. He wanted the club to go to pretty rich people in the end and he backed his promise.Say what you will, Mike Ashley never had anyone killed...probably. He might have if he knew he could get away with it.
I'm extremely confident Stan Kroenke has never ordered a murder. Those things cost money after all.Say what you will, Mike Ashley never had anyone killed...probably. He might have if he knew he could get away with it.

I am sure there was a lot more to it, there always is. But your last line is more along what I was alluding to, esp with Raiola as his agent. Mino is all about the next move and the big payday, he never seems to be working in the best interest of the player he represents.Nah from what I've heard is GIGI is unhappy with his playing time at PSG. Apparently HE WANTED TO STAY AT MILAN however Mino and his family forced him to leave Milan. It's unfortunate but it seems like another example of parents living through their kid.
Reports after the Atalanta match when we secured our CCL spot is GIGI made his final decision and told Maldini he wanted to extend and stay at Milan. However a week before Maldini and the club made their final decision and went after Mike16. This is what a lot of fans don't understand. Gigi was pressured to leave and unfortunately had the wrong people in his ear.
It's really a question of competence. If Mike Ashley wanted someone murdered, I'm reasonably certain it would end with some Geordie thug murmuring at someone.Say what you will, Mike Ashley never had anyone killed...probably. He might have if he knew he could get away with it.
They’re meeting in person today. Graeme Jones will likely be caretaker until a permanent replacement is found. He could be the guy until the end of the season if he keeps them clear of relegation, but it might be ideal to have the new permanent guy in there for the January window.Staveley and the new regime had their talks on the club going forward and reports circulating Steve Bruce will get his walking papers in the next 48 hrs

Rumors are Ralf Rangnick could be the Director of Football. He was apparently responsible for building up RB Leipzig and is very highly regarded. I’m going to be getting a crash course on new (to me) names and some recent history across the football landscape throughout all of this.

Apparently MBS is not impressed with the recent developments. Apparently he told his aides to buy a "new" castle, and instead they came back with a #### club.
I attribute it to them spending 98.7% of their waking hours piss drunk.Irrelevant to anything and I'm certainly not overlooking the systemic flaws of these kinds of surveys but Newcastle-on-Tyne recently made the global top 15 in percentages of citizens reporting their overall happiness with life.
Maybe it's not the cold rainy hellhole that we've been led to believe. Or maybe the folks there just don't care about the weather. Regardless, I was surprised at their presence on the list.
