Reporting is that his heart issue will force Sergio Aguero to retire.
Yup. As much as I was never an Ole Out guy, it was time (actually it was 2 weeks late). He did a lot for the club and got them to a good place, but his shortcomings as a manager have been exposed. I do think he would be a good DoF for them.
Sadly, any top candidates won't be available until summer. Zidane doesn't seem to want it mid season. Ten Haag, Rogers, aren't leaving their current teams to move. Outside chance an unhappy Poch may want to leave PSG, but what will that cost him and United? I see caretaker...Spurs played a blinder. Kept Ole in the job just long enough…
Will United get a full time manager this year or only a caretaker?

Ole never trusted his bench and was afraid to sit underperforming players if they were his guys. He kept going with the same 9 guys expecting better results. What's the point of going after VdB and Sancho if you don't give them a chance when things aren't working or rotation is needed. Why keep Bailly if you are afraid to play him when Maguire sucks for a month?
Problem is they should have done this two weeks ago and now they go into Villareal and Chelsea with Carrick at the helm. Is that better? Or more of the same. Not sure there is time for "better".

Would you take Moyes now with what he is doing at WHU?Moyes, LvG, Jose, Ole - all fairly established and not exciting hires (IMO). They've established three things in the last 8 years - replacing SAF was always going to be impossible, the United brand is a huge money maker even if you don't win at the highest levels and the rest of the top teams caught up and passed United. To me, this should be straightforward - you go after a young, hungry manager that plays an exciting style and you give him 2-3 years to figure it out. Every one of those 4 guys was just trying to play it safe and think you can go back to the winning ways of SAF. It's not happening.
I don't know that Moyes is a guy to handle big egos. He never seemed to really grab the locker room last time around... although stepping into Sir Al's shoes was always going to be impossible.Would you take Moyes now with what he is doing at WHU?
Ole had potential, but never got there.
Jose would have been good right after SAF left instead of Moyes. But when they did hire Jose, it was too late.
They need someone who isn't overwhelmed by the job or SAF sitting in the stands and on the board. Someone who doesn't let any player become bigger then the club. Most importantly they need someone who can get the team playing all in the same direction at the same time. They need structure and patterns of play. Someone who wants to build for a future as well as right now.
Who would you suggest? I like the idea of Erik tan Hag. Not sure how I feel about Poch or Rodgers. Not sure Zidane is the man for the job.

for that reason, I like Zidane- but as much as I love him as a player (probably my favorite), not sure he's got the managerial chops, in spite of how he did at RM. what about the guy at Atletico Madrid?

Today's report is that PSG would let Poch go to United now with Zidane on the radar... Makes more sense. The chance of Zidane (who doesn't speak a lick of English) voluntarily living in Manchester is too small to be measured by our scientific instruments of today.
I LOL'd today when I read that Steve Bruce was interested because he felt he could "sort the locker room."
Maguire is suspended for Chelsea so there is a chance United could win that one....If Carrick beats Villarreal and Chelsea he'll probably get a 3-year contract by next Monday.
What's up w Pogba? Injured or just out of favor?Today's report is that PSG would let Poch go to United now with Zidane on the radar... Makes more sense.

Winning papers over a lot, but I'd think Old Trafford would never be happy with Simeone's style of play. And I do not think Simeone will leave AM.
Love the Erik suggestion. No to Rodgers - Pooch would be interesting and I’ve always liked him. Zidane - no clue but doesn’t seem like a great fit.Would you take Moyes now with what he is doing at WHU?

His steady hand is probably required for the foreseeable future now that Ole has been unfairly sacked. #WOODWARDINBREAKING: #MUFC's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward could delay his departure from the club.
Injured. Out through December. Hurt in France training.El Floppo said:What's up w Pogba? Injured or just out of favor?
Zidane at PSG does make sense.

Things are looking good for United- Ralf Rangnick coming in as interim manager to replace the interim interim manager.Chelsea has appealed the Maguire card in hopes he will be available to play Saturday.
@DJackson10 insane story about yesterday's Milan goal scorer Messias. Vardy-esque.
Hard to think of two excellent things that go together worse than Press God Ralf Rangnick and Cristiano Ronaldo.Things are looking good for United- Ralf Rangnick coming in as interim manager to replace the interim interim manager.
My knee-jerk says bad for Ronaldo, good for Sancho. We’ll see. German managers seem to be the sexy trend these days and Ralf is one of the best as far as reputation goes.Hard to think of two excellent things that go together worse than Press God Ralf Rangnick and Cristiano Ronaldo.

OTOH, the odds that neither make it go down (likely killing off the slim chance the US had of creeping into Pot 1).Italy and Portugal drawn into the same playoff path. At least one will not be in the World Cup.

And Turkey would host Italy if both went through too.Turkey is pretty decent, right? Definitely one of the better pot 2 teams in that UEFA draw. Terrible luck for Portugal and Italy.
Dumb. Pot 1 vs Pot 2 in the final should be hosted by the Pot 1 team. It's uncertain either way so I'm not sure why they need to determine the host ahead of time before they know the participants. And Turkey would host Italy if both went through too.
We're 1.5 points clear of 4th place Panama with the home leg against them yet to come.I’ll be happy if the US are in any pot at this stage…
Never underestimate the ability of this team to underwhelm.Holy cow... even if Panama slips in front of us, we only have to get through New Zealand to get to the World Cup. Would help some if that was two legs instead of one, but the US is all but qualified right now.
I share your optimism but cringe with that wording. A one-off against NZL would be the definition of squeaky bum time.Holy cow... even if Panama slips in front of us, we only have to get through New Zealand to get to the World Cup. Man. I just don't get this! For like 28 of the last 31 years the US was the plucky underdog that could. Overacheived. Fought to the last breath and had all kinds of amazing results against better teams. We made the Round of 16 in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014! IMO that's kind of incredible given our talent level.Never underestimate the ability of this team to underwhelm.

One incredibly fluky cycle coinciding with a transition between talent "generations" doesn't undo any of that for me.
