Reporting is that his heart issue will force Sergio Aguero to retire.

Hate hearing stuff like this is why a player is retiring. However Maldini had like some sort of obsession with this guy for a bit and a lot of us Milan fans weren't on board with having him. I haven't heard anything about their interest since a Year ago so hopefully it had cooled off. This would've been a terrible transfer maybe Maldini's worse if we had gotten him and this news breaks.

Either way you feel for a player in this situation. A few yrs ago Antionee Robinson was joining Milan till they found a heart issue. Transfer deadline day couldn't run more test and Transfer bombed. Robinson went through rehab and I maybe misquoting this but I remember reading Robinson being thankfully for it because the DRs said had this not been found he may have died at some point. You don't mess around with Heart issues ever.

All the best to Aquero

When the players scream that they don't want to play for a manager there's not much you can do but make a change.  So it is that United have called an emergency meeting of the Board.

Yup.  As much as I was never an Ole Out guy, it was time (actually it was 2 weeks late).  He did a lot for the club and got them to a good place, but his shortcomings as a manager have been exposed.  I do think he would be a good DoF for them.

Ole never trusted his bench and was afraid to sit underperforming players if they were his guys.  He kept going with the same 9 guys expecting better results.  What's the point of going after VdB and Sancho if you don't give them a chance when things aren't working or rotation is needed.  Why keep Bailly if you are afraid to play him when Maguire sucks for a month?

Problem is they should have done this two weeks ago and now they go into Villareal and Chelsea with Carrick at the helm.  Is that better? Or more of the same.  Not sure there is time for "better".

Spurs played a blinder. Kept Ole in the job just long enough…

Will United get a full time manager this year or only a caretaker?
Sadly, any top candidates won't be available until summer.  Zidane doesn't seem to want it mid season.  Ten Haag, Rogers, aren't leaving their current teams to move.  Outside chance an unhappy Poch may want to leave PSG, but what will that cost him and United?  I see caretaker...

Moyes, LvG, Jose, Ole - all fairly established and not exciting hires (IMO).  They've established three things in the last 8 years - replacing SAF was always going to be impossible, the United brand is a huge money maker even if you don't win at the highest levels and the rest of the top teams caught up and passed United.  To me, this should be straightforward - you go after a young, hungry manager that plays an exciting style and you give him 2-3 years to figure it out.  Every one of those 4 guys was just trying to play it safe and think you can go back to the winning ways of SAF.  It's not happening.

Would you take Moyes now with what he is doing at WHU?
Ole had potential, but never got there.
Jose would have been good right after SAF left instead of Moyes.  But when they did hire Jose, it was too late.

They need someone who isn't overwhelmed by the job or SAF sitting in the stands and on the board.  Someone who doesn't let any player become bigger then the club.  Most importantly they need someone who can get the team playing all in the same direction at the same time.  They need structure and patterns of play.  Someone who wants to build for a future as well as right now.

Who would you suggest?  I like the idea of Erik tan Hag.  Not sure how I feel about Poch or Rodgers.  Not sure Zidane is the man for the job.

I don't know that Moyes is a guy to handle big egos. He never seemed to really grab the locker room last time around... although stepping into Sir Al's shoes was always going to be impossible.

for that reason, I like Zidane- but as much as I love him as a player (probably my favorite), not sure he's got the managerial chops, in spite of how he did at RM. what about the guy at Atletico Madrid?

:goodposting:

Esp on Moyes.  He had no shot coming in after SAF.  Especially how he came in (Removed everyone from the backroom staff and tried to change everything around the day to day, banning certain foods/meals/etc).  Had Moyes come in and over the year transitioned to what he wanted and his backroom staff, he may have found more success.  But taking a title winning, veteran team and changing everything day 1 wasn't going to work.

And that is exactly how I feel on Zidane. He had a loaded team, prime Ronaldo and a league that allowed him to gear up for CL days.

And I do not think Simeone will leave AM.

The chance of Zidane (who doesn't speak a lick of English) voluntarily living in Manchester is too small to be measured by our scientific instruments of today.

I LOL'd today when I read that Steve Bruce was interested because he felt he could "sort the locker room."

Today's report is that PSG would let Poch go to United now with Zidane on the radar...  Makes more sense.

If Carrick beats Villarreal and Chelsea he'll probably get a 3-year contract by next Monday.
Maguire is suspended for Chelsea so there is a chance United could win that one....

What's up w Pogba? Injured or just out of favor?

Zidane at PSG does make sense.

Love the Erik suggestion.  No to Rodgers - Pooch would be interesting and I’ve always liked him.  Zidane - no clue but doesn’t seem like a great fit.

Injured.  Out through December.  Hurt in France training.

Milan and Stefano Pioli have agreed on a new contract (Contract was up after this campaign) till at least '23. HERE WE GO from Romano Vitello reports contract should be signed tomorrow and then Milan will work on renewals of Theo (almost done) Kessie and others

Turkey is pretty decent, right? Definitely one of the better pot 2 teams in that UEFA draw. Terrible luck for Portugal and Italy.

I’ll predict Wales, Poland, and Italy as the three coming out of the UEFA playoffs.

And Turkey would host Italy if both went through too.
Dumb. Pot 1 vs Pot 2 in the final should be hosted by the Pot 1 team. It's uncertain either way so I'm not sure why they need to determine the host ahead of time before they know the participants.

🤔 I’ll be happy if the US are in any pot at this stage…
We're 1.5 points clear of 4th place Panama with the home leg against them yet to come.

And even if they threw in a 40 yard once-in-a-lifetime bomb, Gonzalez Robinson volleyed in an impossible own goal and every other game had inexplicable flukes -- and we finished 4th -- we'd still have a decent shot of beating the 5th place CONMEBOL team.

Odds the US qualifies are probably north of 90%.

btw... can anyone find odds to QUALIFY for the WC?  I've looked several times and can't find a line on each team's likelihood to make it to Qatar.

Holy cow... even if Panama slips in front of us, we only have to get through New Zealand to get to the World Cup.  Would help some if that was two legs instead of one, but the US is all but qualified right now.

I share your optimism but cringe with that wording.  A one-off against NZL would be the definition of squeaky bum time.

Never underestimate the ability of this team to underwhelm.
Man.  I just don't get this!  For like 28 of the last 31 years the US was the plucky underdog that could.  Overacheived.  Fought to the last breath and had all kinds of amazing results against better teams.  We made the Round of 16 in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014!  IMO that's kind of incredible given our talent level.

One incredibly fluky cycle coinciding with a transition between talent "generations" doesn't undo any of that for me.

So true.

This teams history is one of complete overachievement since 1989 forward.  They had one bad cycle and the fly by night "fans" think they have underachieved for decades.

And even if we just focus on this current team in particular, they have won the only two trophies they could this year, and are in second place in qualifying with an easier schedule than the team in 4th place going forward.  And they are doing this with the youngest national team in the world.  It is pretty much the exact opposite of underachievement IMO.

I'm hearing that Fox Sports might not be part of the next #MLS TV deal that will start in 2023. It would be the end of an 8-year relationship between MLS and Fox.

TNT / TBS and HBO Max (WarnerMedia) emerge as favorites for bundle B cable and streaming.

Juventus HQ's raided

42 operations under the magnifying glass of GdF including the exchange #Arthur - #Pjanjc between #Juventus and #Barça and the exchange with #OlympiqueMarseille between babies #Tongya and #Akè (evaluation € 8M for both). Among the suspects Andrea #Agnelli , Pavel #Nedved and Fabio #Paratici per Nicholo Schira

GdF survey on #Juventus has 2 very different solutions. On the sporting level, for the NOiF FIGC Juve risks a fine or penalty points (there are no objective criteria to quantify the value of the players) on the criminal level false accounting is a crime punishable by imprisonment

Could be big implications at Spurs with Paratici

Italy's financial police have carried out searches in Juventus' headquarters at Continassa. Juventus' financial dealings in the transfer market from 2018 to 2021 for sums up to €50 million are being investigated.

Andrea Agnelli, Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici are among the six people under investigation for false communications regarding certain transfers and capital gains.

There was also Rumors Inter could be involved as there is about 62 possible transfers involved. Napoli was also mentioned in a tweet but what I got out of it was the only one would've been Osihmen which seems ok
