What's the likelihood the FA suspends Spurs weekend league game against B&HA?  It seems like a very difficult situation for the league to decide when and where to draw the line. Whichever way they go, multiple parties will undoubtedly feel aggrieved.

I think there is a good chance the Brighton match will be postponed.  Its literally not safe for the players or staff to be at the training ground right now - as Conte noted in his presser, one of the players who had been training for the ECL game, was negative yesterday, positive today.

ETA - I think Brighton are dealing with a bit of an injury issue themselves, and probably would welcome the time off.

The issue for Spurs is that they already have 1 game in hand due to the snow storm, and lack of groundskeeping at Burnley.  When they postpone this one, and potentially the Leicester match - that will create quite a fixture jam at some point in the spring.

UEFA seem to be going forward with the ECL group game tomorrow - and Spurs will be sending out a skeletal crew to play - but will undoubtedly be knocked out, and create some room for mid-week fixtures starting in February.

UEFA did postpone Spurs game tomorrow. It has to be played by the end of the year, but no make up date yet.

ETA - I think Spurs are shutting their training facility for 3 days for a deep clean. I don’t think there has been an announcement about the Brighton match, but I would be surprised if it takes place.

the two could not be more different in every possible way.

Any idiot who goes on the field should instantly lose any protection.  I am 99% sure almost every ticket in the world for all sports has language like this where the fan forfeits his rights.  You are no longer spectator once you make that jump.

The yellow is just another in a long line of dumb rules in the sport I guess.

They are lucky it wasn't me. I'd have tackled him and started wailing on him. Then made claims I feared for my life and I was protecting myself. Want to play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Champions League draw is on Monday. I think the draw possibilities break down like this:

City can draw Atletico, Sporting, Inter, Benfica, Villarreal or Red Bull Salzburg

LFC can draw PSG, Sporting, Inter, Benfica, Villarreal or Red Bull Salzburg

United can draw PSG, Atletico, Sporting, Inter, Benfica, or Red Bull Salzburg

Chelsea can draw Ajax, Bayern, Real Madrid or Lille

right?

For Chelsea, I'd love to see Bayern.  My son prefers what he perceives as an easier matchup such as Lille or Ajax.

This morning, UEFA announced that the match would not be played - the clubs have not been able to find a suitable alternative date.

However, UEFA have not announced how they will treat the match yet - forfeit against Spurs for being unable to play originally, forfeit against Rennes for not being able to provide an alternative date, or some kind of draw.

An interesting dilemma.

Rennes 11, Vitesse 10, Tottenham 7

Rennes advances regardless,  but with Vitesse and Tottenham 3-3 on aggregate, if Tottenham are given the 3 points, what happens?

*Points in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; (3 each)
*Goal difference in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; (zero)
*Goals scored in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; (3 each)
*If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
*Goal difference in all group matches; (both sit at +3)
*Goals scored in all group matches; (Vitesse at 12, Tottenham at 11)
*Away goals scored in all group matches;
*Wins in all group matches;
*Away wins in all group matches;
*Disciplinary points (direct red card = 3 points; double yellow card = 3 points; single yellow card = 1 point);
*UEFA club coefficient.
If they award Tottenham a forfeit win, how does UEFA score that?  1-0?  It's even.

Spurs would have the better overall GD with a 1-0 win

But, I think a forfeit goes in the books as 3-0.

I don't think it matters, I can't see anyway this goes Spurs way, unless they extend the date to play the game into January - which seems unlikely.

UEFA should just adopt NFL Rules. If Match can't be played in a timely matter should be a forfeit. NHL basically I think if a team can't play for covid its a forfeit.

So I was going to go to the CAFE on Sunday next week for the Milan/Napoli match since Milan Club Philly is having a meet and I'm friends with the Napoli Philly Club Prez. Was going to be my first time meeting the Philly Milan guys and the president. Well I just got informed at work today they had a raffle and I won tickets to the Eagles game next Sunday that is around the same time. Not sure where the seats are but unfortunately I will miss it. Was looking forward to meeting the crew but Eagles have always come first. I was going to watch the Eagles game either at another local bar near by or go upstairs to the restuarant bar and ask the guy who tends bar up there on Sundays I know to put the Eagles game on for me till the Milan/Napoli match.

So those plans are canceled. Not sure where the seats are yet but pretty excited

I don't know much at all about it, but can't fathom how this ends up being a forfeit against Rennes.

Its highly unlikely - but if it happened its because Rennes refused to reschedule during their xmas break, which meant an alternative date was not available by the December 31 deadline.

So, if they find that Rennes was "at fault" for not finding a reschedule date -then Rennes would have to forfeit.

More likely scenario is that they find that Spurs could have fielded sufficient players - I think 13 from their A-list, and thus Spurs did not meet the criteria to cancel the originally scheduled match, so Spurs forfeit.

Why didn't they call up a bunch of youth players to fill the gap?  I don't know the rules about that, but Liverpool had 3 o4 players not on the senior squad playing against Milan, so I assume Spurs could have done something like that?

I think the practical matter with Spurs was it was 8 first team players and 5 coaches - they did not know when the positive tests would stop, so they had to shut the facility to stop the spread.

CL Draw:

Benfica v Real
Villarreal v Man City
Atletico v Bayern
Salzburg v Liverpool
Inter v Ajax
Sporting v Juventus
Chelsea v Lille
PSG v Man United

Good draws for Real, 'Pool, City, Chelsea, Juve, Ajax. Bad draw for the rest.

Atlético has played Bayern quite a few times in the last 10 years.  Nonetheless, Atleti will likely lose this one badly.

@SkySportsNews: Sky Sports News has asked UEFA to clarify what happened with the Atletico Madrid draw and why #MUFC were not put into the pot as an option for them to be drawn.

@UnitedStandMUFC: UEFA are investigating Monday morning's #UCL last-16 draw after #mufc were erroneously picked to face Villarreal before being then pitted against PSG. United have not challenged the draw but are awaiting clarification from UEFA. [men]

LMAO

@GuillemBalague: #RealMadrid will ask @uefa, if they redo the draw, to start after their ball came up (they have Benfica). Mistake was made after that

Sounds like a redraw

@MadridXtra: 🚨| The errors by @UEFA in the #UCL draw:

• Man. United drawn vs Villarreal at first (same group).
• Man. United not in Atletico’s pot.
• Real Madrid were in Villarreal’s pot (same nation).
• Liverpool included in Atletico’s pot (same group).

Official. Champions League draw will be repeated today. #UCL “Following a technical problem, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET”, UEFA announces.

wow, they even found a scape goat.

@ChampionsLeague: Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Really hoping Real draw PSG or Chelsea so we can witness the meltdown.
LFC fans are already melting down, the assumption being whatever happens will benefit United and City.  Which seems kinda dumb.

PSG, the leader in the clubhouse in terms of potential UEFA graft, can't be very happy about having to redraw and potentially losing United.
