And I thought it could not get worse for Greenwood but now they have added threat of murder on to the charges while being arrested.  Here is the Police statement

horrible.

I cringe thinking about how long this kind of stuff happened with impunity before cell-phone cameras.

and on the flip side (hopefully) you have Rashford always putting his foot in the right place... at least off the field.

You probably can't find two more polar opposite human beings
Greenwood still a kid though, no? like 20 max? (I'm talking age, not his likely sentence).

tough to grow up being an international star, I'd think... not so much that your internal voice ever says it's ok to beat up and rape women... but certainly more things allowed that can sway that voice down wrong paths. I'd think he's not irredeemable, being so young and without a history of this kind of thing... unless more comes out.

In huge News Paramount+ during the HT of USMNT/Canada announced the Serie A Crew will be headed to Italy this weekend for Live coverage of the Milan Derby between Inter/Milan. Matteo Bonetti and Dre Cordero for the second time this year will announce the Derby live at the San Siro with wall to wall coverage. Match is Sat with a noon US East coast KO time. Pre Kick starting at 11am.

This will mark the first time a a full American Soccer Production will air live on Italian Soil. HUGE HUGE Step in marketing Calcio in America here. CBS actually cares about this league unlike ESPN

want to make another Avatar bet that you'll back out on when Milan loses again?

eta: gotta say it's fun having Inter and Milan back at the top of the table battling it out.

eta 2: oh... I mean Napoli and Inter... but Milan look pretty too!

[Stejskal] Source with knowledge of the situation tells me that the Revs turned down an offer that could've risen as high as $8 million for Buksa from a club in a big 5 European league this window. One of multiple offers for Buksa that the club rejected this winter.

One can hope but sometimes bad is bad.

I still remember to this day when Aaron Hernandez was a rookie with the Pats.  Scott Zolak has been tied to the team as a player, and now a long time radio announcer for the Pats.  Zolak met the kid in camp and then went on the radio being almost angry saying "this kid is a total punk, there is something wrong with him" and this was at a time when he was doing nothing but basically being a cheerleader for the team.

Senegal-Burkina Faso was a good AFCON game. The eventual two goal margin flattered the winners but Senegal was the better side.
I had that going in the background while I was working/whinging about the US game.

Senegal were clearly the better team... I wasn't paying close enough attention to see how many xg were happening, but two goal margin felt fair per what I watched. Mane with a couple moments of Mane that made two of the goals.

Burkina Faso got a new military government as a consolation prize.

[Fabrizio Romano] Douglas Costa’s set to join Los Angeles Galaxy. Agreement reached on six month loan - plus two year contract set to be signed, done deal. Douglas’ planning to arrive in Los Angeles on Sunday. Flamengo approached him but he’s joining Galaxy - decision made. #MLS

Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz sent off in the 90th minute of the semifinal vs. Cameroon.

It's been a dull match that seems destined for penalties. I'm hoping this works as a reverse jinx.

Just dreadful. I wish I'd been sent off in normal time.

  • MLS vs Liga MX in Champions League thru 2017:  3-15-36 (woof)
  • MLS vs Liga MX in Champions League 2018-2021:  15-4-21
So some really big gains in the last four years, from not remotely comparable to respectably competitive, but still 2nd best.

No question second best, I agree.   Although, I still think the records would change a little if the MLS teams were actually in season vs having to play many of these games in the off season.

One extra note about the two bullets you have is that the first bullet is even worse than it appears because almost always Liga MX used their reserve squads for many of those games, where as in the second bullet, they play their full team all the time against MLS teams.

This would be a nice pick up for Chicago

BREAKING: Chicago Fire and Lyon are finalizing a deal for midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri per source. Deal not 100% done but close. Shaqiri, 30, has 100 caps with Swiss national team. Previously with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

What's behind the sudden and sharp increase in CL performance?  That's a monster gain in a very short time.

I added more information to my post that the gains are even bigger than it first appeared because of what was really happening in the first bullet.

I don't think there is any one magic item for the improvement.  The foreign signings have been better and the domestic players continue to improve (even though we are selling them off at a record pace).

This makes the gains seem even better to me because Mexico sells very very few players to Europe while keeping most of the best talent in house.

Top 10 decision in my life was being a Atlanta United founding member.

Yes, that’s means I’m a loser but I have sweet soccer tickets so it balances out.

Sweet.

Yeah, I'm getting tickets. Just waiting to find out more info on which ones.

While those standing room only tickets sound fun, with kids, I think that'll get old.

Not having a license killed me for years on the Union. Uber wasn't big yet. If the Union had started now I'm probably get tickets as a founding member. The issue is public transit wise is near impossible to get to Subaru Park at the location they chose on the Waterfront. Parking is also pretty terrible too

Set those clocks for 11AM folks the first ever Live Serie A Broadcast on Italian Soil by an American crew starts and at High Noon it's The Milan Derby. Paramount is going all out on this folks and it feels so great.

Hernandez had known gang ties up in Conn/Mass area. It was well known after a while at UF and Urban Meyer didn't care. Neither did Belichik apparently. I said the worst situation for Hernandez was for NE to draft this guy and the further he was from his home town the better I thought for his NFL career.

Still deciding who what your new av will be. Might pull out the last one you didn't use.

Yeah. I'd tend to agree. I opted for the reserved seating with Charlotte as their supporters group section is all GA. Would rather lock in good seats than have to get there early.

I've done the standing room only in Munich, which was really fun. I imagine for kids it will be tough to see and they may get bumped around.

Goals, hard tackles, Red Cards, a streaker (No wonder Hakan ran the other way), Giroud scoring 2 goals in 4 mins, Milan win and CBS became the first American company to broadcast a Calcio match on Italian soil it did an amazing job. Scudetto race is wide open now.

BREAKING NEWS: Atlético de Madrid have entirely forgotten how to play defense and have given up on this season.
Traore vs Hermoso was a huge mismatch and the organization at the back was uncharacteristic of Atletico.

Classic Dani Alves match where he does the brilliant and the bone-headed.

Barcelona crawl back into the top 4. Defense is still atrocious, but the new signings in the attack are doing a much better job at pressing high.

I just don't understand what's going on with Atleti.  They've given up more goals this season in 22 than they typically give up in 38.  Not just leaky at the back, just downright terrible.  Mostly crap defending and organization, but Oblak hasn't been nearly as good as years past.

It's like they are all just coasting into mediocrity.
