I am not sure I will live long enough to see a full pyramid in the US, but we have to start some where

BREAKING: The #USL is set for a milestone vote on the adoption of a promotion and relegation system, per source

• Plan for 3 pro tiers
• Potential restructure in 2024, pro/rel in 2025
• Sources optimistic, but vote may have opposition

This thing must be ridiculously complicated to take this long

For those wondering why no official announcement ahead of Sunday's unveil...Messi had not yet signed his contract as of early Friday. Deal is in final legal stages and is expected to be done and signed imminently. Announcement expected before Sunday.

Athletic reports that Jordan Henderson can quadruple his wages
Reportedly 700k pounds per week. i.e. ~$40MM a year. Fabinho also reportedly a target. Liverpool seem willing to let both go provided they can net 60-70MM from the sales.

Would be the mother of all midfield makeovers, especially if Thiago leaves too.

Ok, next five Saturdays are planned out:

Tomorrow: Stockport Georgians v Pilkington (pre season friendly)
22/7: Avro v Lower Breck (pre season friendly)
29/7: Chadderton v Litherland REMYCA (North West Counties Premier League)
5/8: Either Sutton United v Notts County or Colchester United v Swindon Town (both League Two), trains down to London booked but actual choice of game uncertain
12/8: Sheffield United v Crystal Palace (Back in a league you can all watch)

this would be 55,000 miles traveled in the US :)

It is still my intent to do something similar to the Northwestern/Bears/Cal/Raiders trip I did just before big cold again, ideally at a time of year where MLS is still going on and can tack on a game to see what the crack is

Fabinho off to Saudi Arabia. LFC reportedly to get 40MM for him. Henderson traveled to Germany with the squad despite agreeing personal terms to move. Clubs apparently not close on the fee.

this was coming... and I read something a week or so ago about him being super pissed about it. something like, "only in MLS would a guy happily on contract be treated like this"
that is not quite true, IMO. We see players with contracts in Europe being treated similarly when they are also not wanted by a team.

I bet Swag does not enjoy the fact that he was told he can't even practice with the team he is contracted to for one of a million examples.

I hear you... but the sense I got was that he was being booted because he was a DP- a spot they need for Messi.

United States right-back Sergiño Dest said he intends to fight for his place at Barcelona after an ill-fated loan spell at AC Milan last season.

"I see myself staying," Dest said Friday, ahead of Barcelona's preseason tour in the U.S. "Obviously, I have to prove myself during the preseason. I'm fully focused on myself at the moment, so it's up to me and I feel like I can and I will prove it. My mindset is to stay here and to have a really nice season."

I need to visit Barcelona soon, because living in this city must be amazing, because no one wants to leave.

we have been chatting about this in the US thread. He wants to stay mostly because he is being paid a huge salary. We were speculating that he is the highest paid American right now

It is a great city, definitely recommend.

Messi finally signed and was officially announced today
They had to figure out exactly what percentage of Miami he world end up owning. And I'm not talking about the football club.

Realllly good read.

Inter Miami has been talking to this guy for 3 years. They bring in their media partner, Apple.

And all possible because Barca really could not afford to bring him back.

Hmm, I wonder if the Libertadores news was confused with this or if they are really two different things.

This below is almost certainly 100% Messi related

ANDRES CANTOR
@AndresCantorGOL

A new mini-tournament with teams from Conmebol and Concacaf will be announced on Monday in Florida in February.

Rice to Arsenal complete.

I've said it before... but I just don't get the hype abot this guy. every time I've watched him (granted- not a lot), he's pedestrian.

Since this is a safe place for dumb Americans, can I wonder out loud what Adams is worth in a world where Rice, Enzo and Caciedo are all over €100mil?

Not in STL last night

Speaking of which, STL City with another win last night and still atop the West with a 3-0 win. Of note, I wanted to mention someone on City's roster that was recently called up a few weeks ago due to the injuries. Sam Adeniran is a striker and only 24 but has only been called up a couple times to MLS until recently with City.

Might be the homer in me and I'm sure there's something lacking up until now or he would have been called up more, but after watching him score another really Big Boy header last night, I'm intrigued at what he can do moving forward and if there's ever a chance for him with the USMNT.

Here's some Adeniran highlights. I watch that and wonder why he hasn't had more of a chance. He's definitely looked the part for City this year.
