***Official Super Bowl LII Thread*** - Eagles vs Patriots (1 Viewer)

The Eagles success is in the trenches. If Foles can play average the Eagles win. I've never seen a six deep D-line with this kind of talent.

Sorry Patriots fans, the dynasty stops here.

Keenum was a journeyman so what is Foles?  So the Eagles won 38-7 with a backup against a journeyman.  Can we call that a Keenum vs Foles a push?  Next year the Eagles get back a QB who was playing at an MVP level and the Vikings still have the journeyman.  And you fear the Vikings the most?

Anyways I need to go to bed
Lol. Did you ever argue with a guy and utterly destroy him and pick apart every lame point he tried to make but end up wondering if it's a 12 year-old and end up feeling bad?    Me too.

What I'm personally seeing is a solid team with upside who isn't quite as good as their record would indicate.

You're kind of on the verge of having a strong team, but could take a step back with a 1st place schedule.

As a Cowboys fan, the Vikings are who I fear most. They'll get a QB & when they do, with Cook coming back & that D, they'll be the clear favorites from the NFC, IMO. The Vikings with a top QB is scary.

My Cowboys have work to do, but we have the raw talent & the scouting department to get back on top. Our scouting department might be the best in the league since we retained Will McClay. There's some things we definitely need to fix, but the future looks bright.

The NFC East should be interesting next season. I expect to battle Philly for the title.
Some things you write are utter garbage.  But some things you've been writing are honest insight and good,  However...

I'm not sure if you think only a couple teams can be considered "strong", but to say that we are on the VERGE of being a strong team seems a little silly.  I think most would say we are a strong team.

Vikings won't have a qb other than bridgewater/bradford/keenum next year.  That's pretty much a guarantee.  So no, I don't think they will be the NFC favourites in the next couple years.

I do agree though that the patriots might be the 'better' team, but that we are also a great team and we're good enough to win this game.  If Foles and that D have as good of a game this week as last week, we should win.  Average won't be good enough to beat the Pats.

I don't want to get into a close game vs the Patriots.  Luckily, I think this game isn't THAT close.  I think it's an 8 point win, just not sure for who.

This is what I was going to post and ask.  I would assume this would be the main focus- tire these guys out the best they can, attack through the air, and stay patient.
As Chip Kelly showed us, that only works if you keep the chains moving, otherwise you have a 40 second 3 and out and wind up tiring your own defense.

 very true.

That said, New England moves the ball... #1 offense in the NFL (Yds/game)

6 Pats would start on the Eagles. There are 22 spots. I think you can do the math yourself.
Not that simple.  How many Eagles fit into NE's system better than the current NE players?  That's the key.

Thanks for the compliment, LOL.

I get it. I mean, you're emotionally invested in your team & you don't like hearing you're not the favorite going into 2018.

You'll find I'm a reasonable fan of my team (Cowboys) & post what I believe regardless if it's going to set off a particular fan base. The funny thing is the only "problem" I've ever had is with Philly fans. I dunno. Go figure.

I'm more interested in FF as far as the boards go, but I'll occasionally talk real football. All I can say is I'm quite familiar with your team (like I am most teams), especially since you're in our division. I've never said anything especially negative about your team. You have a good team (obviously), but you don't have the type of team that's on the verge of being great, IMO. You might get there, but you have a ways to go. Essentially, I don't believe you're as good as your record. That's literally the worst thing I've ever said about you guys.

Let's face it, you're a sensitive bunch in general (or seem to be on the internet), but I can't let that stop me from posting what I believe. You seem to be a reasonable person & may not be as sensitive as others have shown, but even you know most of your homers on the board don't like hearing anything but good reviews. That's probably the best way to put it.

As far as the Super Bowl, I think you're outmatched, especially in the intangible department, but a lot of people feel that way. I think I’m the only one who gets called out for it, but that’s the way the internet rolls. The crazy thing is I’ve actually given you guys a reasonsble chance to win unlike many others.

Anyway, getting back to football, if I was an Eagles fan, I’d be rooting for Pederson to go with 12 personnel most of the game. You can pound them out of that personnel group yet still be able to run your RPOs, screens, & have most of your best pass-catchers on the field. The key is to be able  to run out of it. If you can, I think it’ll  put them in a real bind as long as Foles is accurate.

You might actually see PHI do something their fans HATED when Kelly was running the O.....that is, have D-Linemen get "injured" to get substitutions in.

I guess I also disagree with you saying that most Dallas fans actually don't hate Philly. Like what the actual ####!  Where you been!

And yes, we're (myself included... maybe even especially) an emotionally invested fanbase. When you've never won the Sb and have to hear that same, overused jab almost anytime you debate the Eagles with someone (especially Dallas fans), it gets tough to not be. We're excited. We're passionate. We want this so bad... so understand when nerves are a little on edge here.

Also, more than one team can be considered "great". I don't see how anyone could say we're not a great team... or even " on the verge of being great". Will be interesting to see the nfc champion odds in a few weeks but I'm guessing we'll be above Minny.

As for the game, I agree. We "shouldn't" win. No reason to fault you for saying that. But we "shouldn't" have won the last two weeks either and that worked out well for us. If I had to bet my life on the game I'd be dumb not to pick the Pats. But like you say, we're good enough to pull it off if we play a great game, and I think most here are nervously hopeful that that's going to happen.

You might be right about some Cowboys fans on this board, but I don’t get the sense from the many Cowboys fans I know that we have animosity towards Philly. I know I don’t. If I had to pick a team that Dallas fans might hate it would be the Skins or Steelers which goes back a ways, but we really don’t have a huge rivalry as of now. I think a Dallas/Philly rivalry could be on the horizon, though.

Like I said, you guys do have a reasonable chance to win this game. I’m not sure why I’m getting attacked, LOL. I know you guys disagree with my assessment that you aren’t a great team yet & have a ways to go, but I don’t view that as much of a negative statement. I’ve been complimentary for the most part.

Anyway, good luck. ?

"Dallas/Philly doesn't have a huge rivalry but could be on the horizon"

"Philly isn't even on the verge yet of being a great team"

Man, get with the times!  These things are happening now, not in the future.

You are being attacked because you make silly statements and don't back them up with any facts. When I have asked you to be specific, you don't answer my questions. So I will try one more time, because you amuse me: If the Eagles are not a great team in 2017, please tell me why they are not great? What areas do they need to improve in? And please use stats and rankings to back up your points, and please don't tell me again that you have Carson Wentz on your FF team.

I think the Eagles can hang with New England.  But this will be a close game.  I will be scared to death if the Eagles only have a 4 point lead kicking the ball back to the Pats with a minute fifty and two TOs.  TB12 has been doing it his whole career.

If this were Andy Reid's Eagles they'd lose in this scenario.  But I think Pederson is a smart cookie.  He is good with in game adjustments and he doesn't waste his TOs.  I believe they can and will win this game. I'll go 28-24 Eagles.

I’m not making silly statements. YOU think they’re silly because you disagree.

It's the keyboard mentality. I've learned long ago on these boards as much as I like them, it's best to ignore those who are just looking for a keyboard fight.

The thread is already sidetracked with posts doing just that. No thanks.

The only thing further I'll say is you're really that adamant about your team being on the verge of greatness? As much as I understand the homer mentality, I don't get it. You guys have a good to possibly very good team on the horizon, but I'm not seeing it yet.

We're really close to you guys in talent & WE have quite a ways to go. The Vikings with a better QB is the team I fear most next season. The Rams are right there, too, & Wonder Boy has a Belichick vibe to him. I'd rank them as the 2nd strongest team in the NFC right now.

Aaaaaaaannnnnndddddd you still haven't addressed his questions.

What improvements would you say they need?

ETA: Who's in your top 5 teams?

Sniffing glue apparently.
LOL. Rivalries aren't about rabid fans doing stupid stuff during the game (in or out of the stadium). I'm in the heart of Cowboys country & we don't view you guys as a big rivalry in general (at least as of now).

Every divisional opponent is some sort of rivalry, but that goes without saying. Philly a huge rivalry right now? Why? Maybe in the future & the dynamics are lining up that way, but it hasn't been a big rivalry for us outside of the divisional aspect.

How is asking you to support your statements looking for a keyboard fight? And since you have declined to support your statement, I deem it silly. Keep trolling, FJ.

I would also fear Minnesota with Brady, Rodgers, Brees, or Wentz next year.. Do you foresee that happening? Do you have inside information. Please share. Because I'm pretty sure they're going to be going out there with Keenum, Bridgewater, or Bradford.

Buddy the cowboys are nowhere near the eagles in talent. Your team has zero depth. For example if you take away Zeke/Sean Lee you have a 4 win team on your hands. The Eagles 2nd/3rd string defense  was giving your offense fits. The Eagles have been losing significant pieces all year yet remained the best team in the NFC. Long way to go for the cowboys.

Ya this is another of his posts I don't understand. He said next year with a better qb he fears Minny. The chances of it not being one of those 3 guys there is slim. Unless he's predicting Minny trades for Aaron Rodgers?

So, two teams you ranked ahead of us for next season are the Vikings, who we just beat 38-10 with our backup QB, LT, MLB, and 3rd down back, and the Rams, who we beat in their home stadium and got destroyed in their wild card game?  Oh, and also Dallas, because Prescott is better than Wentz in your mind.

Seems like quality, unbiased analysis there.

Can we as Eagles fans agree to stop feeding the troll that is Football Jones? He is not a traditional troll, but the ever more sinister subtle troll. He sounds like he is being reasonable but he repeats the same inane comments with no support for them. I, for one, vow to stop falling for his click bait. I wish him well in his future trolling endeavors.

they have Wentz, Jeffery, Ertz, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Fletcher Cox, Timmy Jernigan, Derek Barnett, Malcom Jenkins, Rodney McLeod all locked up through 2020
