Anyone saying you guys have no chance are insane. You’ve got a helluva team that has a great mindset for this game. They seem loose and confident.
The test is if they can keep that mindset once they walk out under the lights. Luckily you guys are well coached and have several guys who have “been there” before (notably Blount and Long) who can help calm the guys down and keep them grounded.

That said, I won’t be surprised if the Eagles win and eventually I will probably even be happy for their fan base. They have stayed loyal to that team through decades and decades of losing and not getting it done, similar to Sox fans prior to 2004. Eventually the worm turns, don’t think it will be tonight but if it is good on them.

I lived in Minnesota and hated Vikings fans. And they weren't a successful team at all. It was annoying to see so many people jump on the bandwagon each year, then all jump off at exactly the same time once it became clear the season had fallen apart (again).

There is nothing that can drive discussion like a SB between 2 passionate fans bases like NE and Philly. We’ve all had or fun in here but I hope win or lose everyone stays classy. Eagles win their first or Pats win their sixth. Either way it will make for an epic story. I hope everyone enjoys the game and is safe!That’s the spirit!

SB is finally here! I've been trying to stay out of this thread, but will be around tonight.

I think a lot will come down to Peterson/Foles, and how he decides to trust him and come out of the gate. The last thing you want to do is let the Pats keep within a score for 3 Quarters while you run the ball all game, but even worse would be to go down by a couple scores and MAKE Foles have to be the hero or to have him come out shaky. I think the NE O's strengths match up OK with the Philly D so they and use Danny and Gronk to soften them up. If Philly puts somebody else on Gronk or takes away coverage downfield, you have 2 burners in Hogan and Cooks that can make them pay.
Of course I am picking the Pats, but I could see this either way, and I am just hoping for yet another close and entertaining game like all their other SB appearances.

The more I delved into the past two weeks, part of me wonders if NE stops the Eagles pass rush that this could turn into NE winnIng handily.
Philadelphia reminds me of the 92 Bills team. For those too young to remember, current PHI coach Frank Reich subbed in for an injured Jim Kelly and led his own 28-3 miracle comeback against the Oilers. (Somewhat mirroring Foles leading the charge instead of Wentz).
In the divisional game, the Bills defense came alive, beating PIT on the road again with Reich 24-3. They followed that with a 29-10 thumping of Marino’s Dolphins in Miami (with Kelly back).
Meanwhile, the Cowboys sailed through the Eagles 34-10 (similar to the Pats vs. TEN). They battled the Niners in the NFCCG, holding on by a single possession before a late TD sealed the game.
I remember the talk at the time that this time it was Buffalo’s year, they were confident, they were clicking on offense and defense, etc. Then the game came and the Bills got blown out 52-17.
While I am not suggesting that NE is going to hang 50 on the Eagles, I would not read a ton into the Eagles defense being stellar the last couple of weeks and the team is bursting with confidence.
If the Eagles do win, they will have beaten a team that has been the healthiest it’s been all season with the greatest QB of his generation and likey the greatest head coach of all time (certainly the best in the free agency era). On top of that, PHI would have beaten 3 head coaches (with the NE coordinators moving on next year). Bottom line, PHI would have earned a victory again a really good team.

Good post, I think that’s very realistic and I am getting sick of all the media on how confident the Eagles are and people picking them. Pats are easy favorites for a number of reasons including the ones you mention but fee we have a punchers chance. If they do pull it off you couldn’t have written a better script including many reasons you mentioned and how great the Pats team and staff is.

Grew up in rural Texas. Went to college in the city now I'm back in the town I grew up in.
Cowboys fans are extremely obnoxious. Every year is "their year." And they love saying Eagles have no rings yet they have 1 post season win in 20 years.

Will be fun...the two best teams in football...I feel confident because the three biggest difference-makers (BB, Brady and Gronk) are wearing blue and white...I also think a huge x-factor is the Pats had to play a big time D in Jacksonville in their last game...if they were going from an average D like the Steelers to Philly it would be more of a shock going against this unit...anything is possible in a one game format but I definitely have a very calming confidence because we have BB and TB12...just seen them deliver in this scenario too many times not to be optimistic..

I agree that PHI has the advantage on the lines, but obviously Brady and Belichick would be 1 and 2 in a draft of elements on either teams.
The more that I have thought about it, it is going to come down to Pederson. Is he up for the task and can he make the adjustments necessary with the playcalling and keeping the players in the right mind frame? He has shown a lot of this this year, and I really think this is what the game will come down to.

I call BS. Big advantage to Philly's front 4 on defense. Fletcher Cox is a living god. Huge money is coming in on the Eagles side of the line. Philly has demonstrated a lack of doing stupid things. Teams that lose to New England do stupid things (hello Jacksonville).

I LOVE being out on days like today. We NE fans do it right. EVERYONE is out in Patriots gear. Hats, caps, jerseys, jackets, shirts, pants, sweatshirts, scarves, buttons, signs, whatever. From babies to 90 years olds in wheelchairs to workers at every place of business. Not a lot of talk about the game all week. Then the sea of endless support. No need to shoot down the Eagles. We’ve done this so many times we know how to do it. Then you bump into and discuss which year is the stuff they are wearing from. Pretty much every woman out today is in a Brady jersey. He plays for the ladies. Lol.

Foles is arguably the best backup QB in the league & he’s done a fine job as a starter. The Eagles OC has a great play action game plan to help him succeed, and the Eagles have so many weapons on defense they can beat you short, intermediate & deep.
I haven’t seen Foles fail to execute since he became the starter.
No offense, but this is a terrible take. You’re dramatically underrating the eagles here IMO.
