***Official Super Bowl XLII Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Yes, JP. Historical. Momentous. An 'All-Time' day. The day we'll all look back and recall, "Where was I the day Laurence Maroney became a superstar"??? ;)

Seriously, I just cant recall a Superbowl in recent memory that had this kind of significance. Theyre all obviously huge, huge games. This one is clearly different. Undefeated, 19-0. It's almost strangely irrational. So much to say. So little time. Strike that. Reverse it.

Good luck today, Giants fans. Its been a tremendous season for both our teams to reach this day. Nothing but the best for you and your squad.

FBGs-

Just wanted to say, fellas. Great job this season. Its been a long, strange trip from this fan's perspective, and you guys have again provided the forum to let all of us cheer, rage, vent and express our emotions throughout this great football season. I very much appreciate the service and jobs all of you guys do here. So big-time thanks for keeping it pretty clean, running a pretty tight ship, all the great insight and info. None of us are ever all right. But making the effort is always what it's all about. And you do it well. I'll speak for the crowd here. Much love, fellas.

All other Joes-

Enjoy the game. Superbowl 42. Wow. Finally, the day is here. Should be one for the ages.

Did I just say, 19-0? My bad. 18-0 and definitely not getting ahead of ourselves.

Respect. It's all about respect!!

As much as this pains me to say, Go Giants. :penalty: I think I'd prefer to see an 'upset' (even though I don't think it would be a really big one) rather than 'history'.

By the way, anyone else saddened on this big day that the season is over?Bittersweet, IMHO.....
Actually, it depends on how you look at it. Today, it may be over. Tomorrow its just the beginning again!
Shamefully, I never take advantage of factoring "fresh" second half of year observations into my following year valuations. While you can always analyze second half stats next July, you "lose" some perspective. Even more shamefully, I'll do the same this year.

Not bittersweet for me - I got way into NCAA roundball in December.

I am actually pretty psyched to see this season end - it was a nightmare for me. I'm a Dolfan and all my fantasy teams except one pretty much tanked.

I look forward to March Madness, then the April draft, then we start writing articles again.

Is there a game today? Who's playing? :wall:

Well, Couch Potato's signing off and headed out to the PAAAAR-TAY!

The best part of it all? Free food and fermented refreshments!! Woo hoo!!!

By the way, I'll say Patriots 38-17. Eli gets picked 3 times.

SEE YA!

Man, I thought Alicia Keys was a lot thinner on bottom. I am a below average FBG, so I still think she is pretty, but she is a lot wider than I would have imagined.

By the way, anyone else saddened on this big day that the season is over?

Bittersweet, IMHO.....
Not so much this season, but I'm glad this week is over. In a day or two, I'll be able to turn on the local news and not have to sit through the first 15mins hearing about all the celebrity parties, of which 99% of their viewing audience won't be attending. :pickle:

Last minute pregame thoughts...

First, I hope that there is nothing done by the men in stripes that causes several multi-page threads here. I would love to barely notice the refs tonight. A good, clean controversial free game, first and foremost.

Next, I hope the Giants play their brand of football, execute and play well, and stay healthy. I like the way this team has fought adversity thru the season and like the way they play the game.

Finally, I hope the Patriots play to the levels they're capable of, the level they played at in the early part of the season. I want them to play like crazed men on a mission, leaving absolutely NO DOUBT as to who the better team is.

I want no excuses. I want to see my team make history. I want to see 19-0.

Here's to a great game, and a great season. I hope everyone enjoys the game. Stay safe & happy at your Super Bowl parties.

The key to the Giants keeping this game close will be converting on 3rd downs and scoring TDs instead of FGs. I don't think they will consistently do that this time around. This game will be more of what was expected for the regular season encounter.

Pats 34-13.

I'm going 35-24 Patriots

Now I know why I don't watch pre-game show... Paula Abdul got to do a l performance with Randy Jackson on guitar? Fox really milking their coverage for there own shows that arent getting ratings.

Man, this can't start fast enough!!!! I'm dying over here, lets get it on!

I just want both teams to be healthy throughout, don't let injuries or zebra decide this one. I can live with the Giants losing if they bring their best all across the board.

 :football: :football: :football: :football: :football:

And her "performance" wasn't even live. :football: The canned "screaming crowd" and way-too-loud band drowned out her vocals. Stick to the drugged-out AI auditions, Paula.

Giant homers, does anyone know the status on Burress?
Yep, He's Out.Dude, He's playing He's fine. Now if He has no catches, of course He will say He was hurting.
KFFL ReportingUpdating ongoing reports, the Associated Press reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress (ankle, knee) is not guaranteed to play in the Super Bowl after he missed his third straight practice Friday, Feb. 1. Head coach Tom Coughlin said Burress has improved and the team just hopes he will be able to tough it out one more time for them this season. "He's done it all year under all kinds of circumstances," Coughlin said. As previously reported, he took part in some of the individual portions of practice Friday; however, he did not take part in the team workout. Need to start the right two today and dont want to start a guy that may not play (however it does sound crazy that he wouldnt play after blowing up last week)

They should of held him out of the Packer game

Why should we care of football players can read the Declaration of Independence when most of our curent politicians don't give a #### about it to begin with

Sorry for the rant. NOW LETS PLAY THE DAMN GAME ;)

With all this "Spygate" stuff still unsettled; it would make my stomach churn to see BB and Brady hoist the Lombardy over another potentially scripted Superbowl. I hope for the sake of the game, the infractions don't run deeper.

So I've decided to watch Beaches instead ;)
