***Official Super Bowl XLIV Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I went to a Saints and Falcons game in Atlanta some years ago and that was the best tailgaiting I ever did. All the saints fans were hilarious, welcoming, and ready to have drinks and good eats. :goodposting:

Gotta give Manning lots of credit here. Took a team that wasn't even that good, with a rookie HC to the big game and almost pulled it out. Elway like performance there. Give Brees the Colts this year and they don't even make the playoffs.
How many wins is Brees going to have with Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie as his receivers while the #1 RB averages 3.8 YPC. He'd be lucky to get to nine wins in the AFC with that team.
If only he had a 7th round pick as his leading WR and an undrafted player as his #1 RB.

Very nicely done Saints! This just seemed like the way this season should end. Great story line and very happy for Drew Brees! Guy has been nothing but classy and keeps overachieving. Apparently he really is that good.

Nice to conveniently omit 1st round picks/pro bowl players Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.

It looks like the balance of power has shifted back to the NFC for this year at least. Looking forward to next year already.

Was like New Year's Eve out here in the burbs. People around here are still shooting off fireworks.

...

I knew the Saints would need a pick-6 in this game.

I'm a 35 year old Saints fan, been watching this team since I was about 7. I honestly, truly never thought this day would come. It's beautiful. WHO DAT!!!!!!

So fitting that the INT for a TD return seals it at the close of the game. Despite owning the #1 offense in the NFL this year, it's the defense that turned this team from a good team to a championship team. They've done it all year long when it mattered and they did it again. Some will call it luck. Others will know better.

WHO DAT!!!

CONGRATS SAINTS FANS!!!!

Do not let anyone (a-holes) rain on your parade by trying to diminish this.

You won the game and played great!! KUDOS!!!!

I know this is easy to say now, but this Colts team never struck me as one of the best of all-time, so them losing means we won't have to listen to any of that "they could have been 19-0 and been the best team ever" nonsense, and for that I am grateful. :goodposting: :banned:

Big time congrats to the Saints and all their fans.

In September they came out like the '07 Pats, just blowing everyone away. Few minor hiccups along the way, but finished strong. They deserved to be champs this year - for outplaying the Colts, but also for being the story for most of the season.

Been a long time coming for NOLA. Must feel great, and I'm happy for everyone down there.

Does this put Brady back in the mix for best ever? Additional by subtraction?
It's really not even close. Manning will always be painted as one of the Greatest Regular Season QBs. While Brady will be discussed in the same breath as Montana, Elway and Grogan.

Great story for the city of NO and the state of LA. Brees and Payton are now Gods in the Big Easy. Well deserved - congrats Saints fans.

I love the logic people use in these discussions.
I was joking, but since they both have the 1 L in the big game column now, doesn't that even things up some? :goodposting:
Well not really considering Tom has 2 more rings.
Well Bradshaw has 4 rings and Aikman 3 rings. I guess they should be in the discussion too if rings are a qualifier.

Prediction: We're going to OT brahs!!!
I don't know, the game sure has been up and down...I could see a Manning interception here and the game turns on a dime. NO has the lead with about 5 minutes left...not many people had NO ahead 24-17 at this stage of the game, most thought they would fade...they didn't.
Didn't check the entire thread, but you deserve credit for this.

Agreed.....however Brady has 3 as well. The big difference being Bradshaw and Aikman both played in an uncapped era. The Cowboys bought Super Bowls and the Steelers won theirs hopped up on steroids and amphetamines.
