Pacquiao and Khan both tweeted out that they're set for April 23. Hope Pac sends Horn some money for dicking him over.

Also Roc Nation reserved the Mandalay Bay for June 17 for a Ward/Kovalev rematch.

ETA: More boxing on FS1.

Looking forward to the Thurman/Garcia fight tonight.  Gut feeling tells me Thurman by decision but the layoff concerns me.

I would like to see them fight again.  Great fight.
Meh. Danny can't do anything if Thurman uses that much movement. Seems like Thurman needs a new nickname. He doesn't have 1 punch power (any power?) and really wins through movement and quickness. Keith "The Artful Dodger" Thurman maybe.

115-113 for Thurman here. Loved his gameplan, but thought he needed to continue to book rounds instead of letting off the gas at the end, he cut it close. Still, he is a brilliant fighter.

Id like to just see thurman vs the winner of brook/spence near the end of the year.

I agree.  Skip a rematch, at least for now.  Thurman vs Brook/Spence winner is the match to make

The one caveat is that it sounds like Brook's getting really close to having to move up. Hosting Thurman in the UK would be a massive fight, but at some point he's going to have to bail. The only issue is that where there are big $$$ fights to be made at 147 (Khan, Pac, Thurman, Broner!!!!), 154 is full of dangerous fighters with nowhere near the financial upside: Lara, Andrade, J-Rock, Hurd, Lubin, etc. Fascinating division, but a fairly chaotic one.

I'd love to see Pacquiao fight Thurman, but again, don't think he's going to put himself at risk like that. It's gonna be Khan, then either Marquez again or Broner or some ####.

I would rather see a Porter rematch than a Garcia rematch. That was a better fight and Porter was more successful  than Garcia was. Broner seems bound to fight Garcia or Thurman at some point. What's Bradley up to? He would be an exciting fight for Thurman.

In the post-fight presser, Thurman basically said a lot of options were avail., be it a huge fight against Brook/Spence, something else, or just a stay-busy next. But he seems amenable to making big/interesting fights happen, so that's good.

Brook is legit but Spence can be a once-in-a-generation talent.  While not a given, I expect Spence to beat Brook.  Thurman-Spence should be easy to make after that.  If Khan fights and beats Pac, he could fight the winner of that to truly unify the division.

On the flip side, Garcia-Porter would make a lot of sense.  Winner could start the line to challenge the (possible) undisputed champ or perhaps Broner.

It's a good time for welterweight boxing!

I like this.  I would like to see this.

Dunno if anyone caught it on the Haye/Bellew :lmao: undercard, but man can Katie Taylor ####### box. I hope Hearn starts pushing her quickly a la Lomachenko, she needs some legit opposition. There may not be much tbh.

they kept comparing the fight last night to the Leonard / Hearns unification fight ....huge fight  to live up to...not many fights have the drama and story changes that the leonard /hearns fight had....an all time classic

That's the biggest issue with female boxing: lack of competition.
Hopefully people like Taylor and Shields can push it forward some, even if most of their fights are mismatches on bigger cards.  Or for Taylor, maybe a few real fights against Persoon.  But I think it's a good look for guys like Hearn to try and push the demographics of the sport and open it up to women. Taylor's already slated for a spot on Crolla/Linares II and Klitschko/Joshua in the next couple months.

Are Taylor and Shields in the same weight class?

ETA- I looked it up.  Shields is lightweight, Taylor middleweight.  25 lb difference.

Yeah, don't think they're ever gonna see each other. Boxrec lists 23 active super middleweight boxers, where Shields is fighting. There are no female boxers above her in weight, except another 25 or so at heavyweight. May not be a very far climb to the top.

Pac/Khan called off, the money that some unvestment group was gonna put up never came thru.

Pac now targeting a July fight, which cant be Khan b/c Ramadan is in may, iirc.

Was rooting for Curtis. I was a fan watching him on NBSN a few years ago when he was knocking everyone out. He's a good fighter but probably time to hang it up. He just was short of being able to hang with the champions.
Yep. KO aside, he was getting hit way too easily. Don't think there's much left for him at this point.

Brutal.  I really would like to see Lemeuix vs Canelo.  If Canelo wants to get to GGG i think he should have to beat a Lemeuix first and taste that power.

Canelo has earned a GGG fight. I think Canelo boxes Lemeuix's face off just like GGG did. Good fight but Alvarez boxes too well.

I think it would be a good matchup and could see a case made for either winning.  But if im Canelo, if im going to take that risk, better take it against GGG.  But if they still cant make that fight for September i could see a situation where this one gets made and i think it would be a good fight.

I definitely could see it happening. You really think Lemeiux can hang with Carmelo? I know he always has a punchers chance, but I think he's way behind in skill level.

who knows.... also who knows if he will make weight!  :lmao: he looked a little chubby last night and i think he would have lost if it went 12 but... he was banking on it not going 12.

if it goes 12 with canelo, canelo definitely wins.  I'm interested to see how canelo handles that type of power.

Canelo would mop the floor with Lemieux.

It'd be a good first couple rounds...but Canelo would catch him with a combo by 4th or 5th and put him away, if not earlier.

Anyone else gonna be in the building for GGG Jacobs on saturday?
Jealous. Having Chocolatito and Cuadras on that card too, even if separately, is a pretty nice night.

I'd favor Canelo against Lemieux too, but Canelo's people have always done well to keep him away from any real dangerous power. He's fought some good hitters past their primes, and some good in-prime finesse fighters (Mayweather obviously, Lara), but Lemieux would be somewhat new territory for him. Not to mention GGG. I'd like Lemieux's chances more than I like JCC Jr's.

HBO has a really cool special up about Chocolatito's fight against Cuadras.
